Had a quick flick through the last few pages i had some colleagues over recently from Belgium, Switzerland, Germany and Italy i took them to the bottle garden (fancy aperitif), blue boar (a bit of Britishness), Sonrisa (nice building and passable food)…. A quick pic with Ricky 3 and a stroll up past town hall square… “Leicester’s a really nice place, I didn’t realise it had all this history” it has it’s iffy bits, but a lot to commend it too…. We’re our own worst critics!

It’s hardly the low risk approach and I suspect their resources to fight it will be greater than his if they choose to kick off, but it’s not unheard of for this to happen…. Loads of ex employees consult for their former employers….

I’d double or triple that overhead cost, but you’re spot on…. Calculate what it’s worth…. And over how many years…. Keep the idea and clearly communicate it’s value…. do ask someone what’s in it for you…. They’re not a charity, so remember that the conversation is less awkward for them! Some of the expectations expressed on this post are ‘ambitious’…. But if leads to a promotion or pay rise then it’s all good 👍🏼…. Any good company would recognise an outstanding piece of work… Someone earlier mentioned patents too…. There maybe a work process for submitting a patent? If you’ve designed it on the work clock/ equipment then it belongs to the company generally…. I have ~30 patents with my name on them and some of them are worth £millions…. I get a bonus for everyone I submit and that’s that…! But my job is too develop new products, so it goes with the territory… Finally…. Well done…. Innovation and problem solving can be immensely satisfying…. We need more people like you!

They’re a factory team… I’ve been to the Bayer plant with my job…. It’s like a small city…. I had no idea they were still sponsored by them, but a a quick google suggest they are!

He wouldn’t have to play a congested low block all the time, which should suit him Totally likeable, but at £8m it’s an expensive punt… I understand both views on this thread in equal measure Either way I hope he goes on to have a good career as he clearly has ability
