Pompey 1-0 LCFC, post-match thread

If any of the starting 11 today start for us on the first day next season then we've had a poor summer. -

Rowett's comments before acknowledged that this was a must win game and then that's what we serve up? Shocking. -
Think he tried to poke it through the keepers legs

Daka seems to have a reputation for it which I don't know where it started. He consistently gets no decisions though.

The labelling is apt on those stats...rank.

Relegation, League 1, financial implications
Number 6 replied to splinterdream's topic in Leicester City Forum
As much as I'd like King Power out, I wonder if there is the middle ground option of selling a minority share. Similar route to Wrexham. Might allow an off ramp for KP; stick around for sentiment, allow cash injection with league 1 rules, and hopefully allow the football side to be controlled by the new investors. -
I think it's very hard to judge how a team will do in the Prem based on their Champ season. Sunderland finished on 76 points last season, were outplayed in the playoff final, and yet could finish in Europe this season. It's all about the summer you have between promotion and the end of August. If Cov don't stay too loyal to the team that got them there then they could well stay up.

I think there are two routes. 1. An older safe pair of hands to steady the ship, probably only on a 12 month contract. We've had 3 relegations in 4 seasons and there will be huge turnover of players next season. It needs a sensible head to start the healing. 2. A young gamble. Someone still learning the game who will be around for a while and we start the whole thing fresh. I think 1 is more expensive than 2. 2 has more potential upside but is more difficult to get right and could badly go wrong. In an ideal world I'd look for an option 1 with an option 2 as assistant with a view to a handover in 27. But I don't think we have people capable of that level of planning.

West Brom - Potential PSR breach

I suspect there might be a nominal deduction when they're basically already safe just to say a punishment was applied. -
I'm sure he believes that, I just don't honestly think he'd know. He's not close enough to football or us to know what's going on.

West Brom - Potential PSR breach

Apparently the amount they missed the limit by is around £1m. Would be insane to potentially end up relegating a club for that. -
Don't think Top is necessarily distracting a style or formation now, but perhaps influenced a lot of the purchasing strategy which has left us with a squad incapable of doing anything else. Ultimately it's why successive managers have landed back on something similar and found it not to work. Top could sit there watching us play 4-3-3 or 5-3-2 and he wouldn't know the difference.
-
Yeh we've almost no margin for error if we were to finish above them. But entertaining us getting 12 points feels as fanciful as entertaining us getting 3 tbh.
-
Entertaining hypotheticals you'd have to include Blackburn and Portsmouth because we play both. As much as they require fewer points both games represent an opportunity for a swing in our favour. We won't take the opportunity of course, but if you're looking at hypothetical scenarios I wouldn't discount either.

They're custodians not owners. It's our football club.

Surely Nelson will have to be sold this summer?

It's so frustrating to watch slightly promising situations open up and we turn back, recycle, and let the opposition get back into shape. -
Our most successful season was built on sensible spending and recruitment. Abandoning that was the biggest mistake. Back to the KP model of spend spend spend like they did under Sven. And it was always part of their plan I think. Vichai was already talking about how much baht it would take to get top 5 when we got promoted.

If that had been one of our players they'd have got to the half way line and then turned and passed it back. -
Like the players, knows he won't be around next season anyway so doesn't give enough of a shit.

Team on the beach played like they were in a relegation scrap. Team in a relegation scrap played like they were on the beach. -
He's both not close enough, and too ****ing close.

Highlights everything wrong with the club. A club where players put their own interests above those of the club and their teammates. A club who pay massive wages for average players. A club who think possession of the football is the most important thing about the game. Can't wait for him to leave.

Just meant from a mathematical sense it's not just Portsmouth. Though Oxford have got Sheff Weds, Portsmouth have got us. Don't think West Brom are quite safe yet. Do think it's likely to be one of Portsmouth or Oxford who join us though. -

Depends on West Brom who have been dragged back in due to Oxford and Portsmouth winning.
