  1. It isn’t going to be the same money. Everyone knows, agents and players that clubs now have the 85% spend restrictions. It’s the perfect opportunity for everyone to pull back on wages, with the perfect excuse and everyone is in the same boat. So any other offers are all going to drop as well
  2. Indeed. It is what is is, we don’t have the budget to be spending fees on loads of players. Whether the new man wants to play a certain way or not is frankly inconsequential at this moment in time. We desperately need bodies, we are already likely losing: Albrighton, Ndidi, Iheanacho, Praet. On top of actually needing some other players and replacing the loans of Doyle and Casedei. Losing him would mean another player we need to buy, more money, time and resources bringing someone in. And if anyone mentions Nelson again, we already had him, he was already in the squad. Using him isn’t replacing a player, whether he’s good or rubbish.

  4. What if we are relegated? Still our best striker by a country mile.
  5. I’m suggesting he did a better Job at Swansea than the mighty Potter did.
  6. Good enough for what?
  7. Cooper 5 points ahead, Nuno 10 points ahead. So he extended it by 5 points over more games. Sounds like exactly the same job…. How about comparing all the games rather than selectively ignoring the first 5 games
  8. The Potter who got them 10th compared to Cooper’s 6th and 4th?
  9. So we are now apparently totally two new cost control measures as well as the current rules https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5546232/2024/06/06/premier-league-cost-control-rule/#
  10. Fatawu wont happen until after June 30th when the new PSR calculation kicks in IMO.
  11. I think people forget how much basically everyone on here said they had zero chance of staying up because of their bat shit recruitment. The fact he managed to keep it all together, despite losing so many players from the championship team and bringing so many people in, for me is a positive. It's a skill to manage a group if players like that!
  12. I've explained why in another post. I like him, it's holding a mirror up to people slating Cooper for what's arguably a better record. I'd be happy with him.
  13. He's pragmaetic with his style, Forest were very entertaining in the championship and he's said he likes to play attractive, passing, attacking football. But seems realistic that it might take time to get to where he wants to be.
  14. I should also point out, that the manger he took over from at Swansea after they finihsed 10th was Graham Potter... after Potter went they improved under Cooper with the 6th and 4th finishes. I'm no giant Cooper fan, I'm pretty relaxed about the whole thing. The reaction has been ridiculous about him, hence my defence of the guy.
  15. Unfortunately he's burdened by the fact he's called Steve Cooper and Seve Coperious. A modicum of digging into him and you see there is a bit more than meets the eye in terms of his past, his style, his influences.
  16. That's fair, it's hard to adjust to the fact we are here. But here we are.
  17. I had to tripple check it.
  18. I like him, but it's not that much more of a standout career. I'm being purposely slightly dismissive to hold a mirror up at the ones saying the same about Cooper.
  19. I'll repeat, they were already 5 points clear, finished 6 points clear.
  20. He started out in the Wrexham academy, Liverpool took him on, then after impressing there they put him in charge of the youth team. Moved on to manage England youth, reaching the final of the European Championship and then winning the World Cup Final. He was known for an attractive style of play, and has been a lot of times. Look at his interviews he certainly wants to play attractive football, but he's realsitic in that it can take time to get there. https://www.swanseacity.com/news/profile-steve-cooper
  21. Forest were 17th when sacked, then finished 17th. How is that saving anyone Cooper played some fantastic stuff for Forest in the championship, we ignoring that? Is that not the sign of someone pragmatic?
  22. Copper took over Swansea in 10th, finished 6th and then 4th before leaving. Took over Forest bottom of the Championship and finished 4th. Kept Forest in the premier league despite everyone on here writing them off. Was still 5 points clear of relegation when sacked. Anyone attempting to suggest that is the career of someone at least not competant as a football manager is off their head. He's not some over the hill manager, he's 44 the same age as Maresca. If he had Coopers CV people would be creaming themselves over him. We are not an attractive proposition to proven, high quality mangers without any sort of question mark over them. As I've said before, we are only attractive to people lower down the leagues, out of work managers, or total unknown risks. People might not like it, but we also need an eye on next season which has a high likelyhood of being in the championship. Corberan has potential, but so far he's just managed to not get two teams promoted. And each and every other option has potebtial issues and question marks.
  23. I didn't ask you.
  24. I'm going to presume the other teams form was far worse below them then, considering they had only picked up 8 and 9 points in 17 games, so the notion he was getting them relegated is just supposition.
