  1. Again, you may be right. But some awful players played well on Tuesday. I hope he's one of those guys that will play better with a Dutch voice behind him.
  2. Ayew might be slow, but he is sharp. Again, i will reserve judgement under a new manager.
  3. Nelson and Alves were in the picture before my stroke. Braybrooke I sorta remember. Monga and Evans are new to me - I will look them up. Thanks!
  4. Isn't it usually the case players can be called back or sent back in these deals, but fees are involved?
  5. Okay, I admit I have been slightly out of action since early last year, and seriously have no idea about the youth setup (I used to follow it quite closely, I promise.) Do we have anyone in the current youth team that might be on the verge of stepping up?
  6. Well, any crowd might be a problem ... I now have scar tissue in my brain, and am prone to seizures. However, I am taking medication, and have been able to handle watching at the pub. But probably need an official okay for a stadium.
  7. We will certainly have a better impression of Ruud after a week, after a wonderful impression after 36 hours. I definitely have hope, if not confidence.
  8. In all honesty, I would like him to be a very successful youth coach, and stay at City. No senior manager lasts more than a few years.
  9. This was really, really good. Thanks!
  10. Not boring for me! When growing up in Texas, QPR and Wednesday were the two teams with "weird names" - so I always noticed them when the results were published. (In the 80s and 90s, you got one list of scores in the Dallas newspapers on Sunday. Sorry.) I actually might try to go to this one - see what the doctor says about the crowd size.
  11. Face it, not being Steve Cooper is a massive benefit!
  12. It reminds me of Okazaki-Ulloa role ... my dream is that Vardy still has the tools to play the Totti role, and play until he is in his early 40s!
  13. Very true. But I am happy to be looking forward to it, as opposed to dreading it.
  14. December is such a weird month - these four weeks could see us safe ... or near death. And there are several other teams in the same boat.
  15. They all mean it ... until they don't. I think if we get our finances in place, and have a better season than we have under the last guy, we have a good enough reputation to hang on to him until next year. Although I admit Top doesn't have that "photos of me squeezed your ears" attitude his father had.
  16. I certainly agree deep down. But I think attitude is important ... we won big, despite playing poorly. Who is going to be worse affected this weekend: Us or West Ham? I just hope by the time we play QPR, Van Nistelrooy is comfortable enough to play a strong-ish team (and Ward isn't in goal.)
  17. Yes, he has been in charge for less than half-a-week, but we are above the drop, and you can definitely feel like he can only make us better ... and frankly, there are more than three teams in the league that seem to be going in the opposite direction. A good December, and a few good signings in January, and who knows what the season could bring? I would love a mid-table finish and a fun FA Cup run.
  18. I thought the defence was shocking the first half, and improved the second half. My real concern is our passing: It was horrendous most of the time and not even Championship level. But I am sure Van Nistelrooy knows this. The players are better than they have been playing, even if they won't be challenging for Europe. If Van Nistelrooy can even slightly improve these two areas, we will be safe. (In other news, I am starting to feel much better over the past few months and might even try to see if I can make the FA Cup game. We will see...)
  19. Again, if Van Nistelrooy can get these guys to play the top of their game, we should stay up. If we get some good signings in Jan and the Summer - next season could be truly amazing. (Yes, I realize I am getting ahead of myself- and the team's self... but still.)
  20. Ruud gives a great interview.
  21. For me, the biggest positive is it hopefully shows Van Nistelrooy can improve our players. Because I think we will be lucky to get 3 starters in January.
  22. It also builds confidence. If they players "think" the manager will improve them, that can do wonders. It's a big month. If we do well, the psychological effect on the team will be huge. It will also help us recruit in January.
  23. Good to get a win. Good for the manager to have lots of talking points.
  24. For a first game, good for the manager (obviously), but we were horrible. But 3 points and lessons learned.
