We were 2 nil up and conceded within a couple of minutes which was sloppy.... then giving away a stupid penalty, even sloppier. I am surprised there aren't more people here eating more humble pie given the state of the match thread before KO. If there are people on here not earning good money as professional moaners, they are really doing themselves a disservice!

Which tackle from behind are you referring to? Skipp, who tackled from behind and got the ball, or Tielemans, who tackled from behind and got the ball? My main gripe was from the start of the second half villa wasted time and tried to break up play as much as possible. Fair play to them. I just don't expect the ref to completely facilitate that.

We didn't start negatively against villa. Negative, to me, would have been sitting deep inviting wave of attacks. And with the lineup, that's howvi thought it would go. That just wasn't the case.

On a positive, I thought yesterday, even though the team selection was on the negative side, we didn't have a negative mind set. We were pretty front foot from the off, and I appreciated that. Let's not kid ourselves, Tottenham (h), Fulham (a) and villa (h) is a tough start, and apart from the Fulham game we have acquitted ourselves OK. Is it possible that Cooper is new in the job and we've had a number of new signings and he will eventually find a better approach? Let's not for get, when Claudio took over, I think he was playing schlupp and de last as full backs for the first few games ad he was playing kante as a winger because he thought he was too small to be a central midfielder. Let's see where we are in ten games, but I am taking some positives from yesterday. And finally, we have been competitive enough to keep our goal difference down, and that could already be worth and extra point against our relegation rivals...

It's interesting. Everyone loves Pearson but our season back in the Premier league had some unbelievably negative line ups!

I think, given the recruitment's we've made, and some of the early formations, is Mavididi going to play more as a striker this season? I think that could be the plan.

This iscan extreme example of what chelsea have been doing for years... imagine being a young player going on loan every years for 4 or 5 years to different clubs,rather than being able to put down roots for a few years forva bit of stability. I don't think it does those players any favours. Injury aside,and it being a man City player, but is callum Doyle really going to be well served starting a third championship campaign in a row at a third different club, rather than just having moved and growing with a club?

One of the most underrated goals was claridge against man u in league cup(I think). A ball in to the box and Heskey's back-heeled volley and then claridge volleyed in.

A goal so good, they retired the 'angle 9'!
