Exactly and hence my point. Lcfc are lazy and useless, it's a legacy discount, to reverse it would be PR disaster. But it makes no sense today. They should not be giving baby boomers (most economically affluent generation) any discounts. Baby boomers should be subsidising match tickets for the rest of us as they've hoarded all the wealth. If the club really cared they would be giving women and minorities a discount, groups who have an earnings gap in the present.

In Baku last year, there were plenty of Brits who had initially travelled to Georgia who all said it was incredible scenery. Proper travellers not your south of France types. Mate I’m not a salesman so I cannot give you the economics 101 of OAP discounts. But I think it’s obvious that commercial enterprises like lcfc are not giving anyone a discount to say thank you. And I think it further sums up how lazy and bad lcfc and others are by giving the most economically affluent group in the country a discount.

Do you really think a KPI of commercial depts across the world is saying ‘thank you’ to old people.

Again that is missing the point. To derive wealth as a senior your house price has gone up, you’ve been granted a generous pension or economic conditions and infrastructure have been in place for you to thrive. None of which you are personally responsible for. The hardest working people in the world are probably those in third world countries working 18 hour days doing physical labour. Hard work does not equal wealth.

These days Colin is retiring from 40 years in a public sector keyboard bashing job with a final salary pension and a house he bought for £50k worth 7 figures. Colin does not need a discount.

All depends on the individual. I prefer short fixes, flexibility, allows bigger overpayments, 5 years is a long time. You’re young and may want/need to move. What you can afford today may look very different in a few years time. Then again certainty of 5 years of a guaranteed payment gives comfort
