I just can’t see us shifting enough to need this many incomings, or being able to afford it. You’d certainly hope a few more will leave if we can get rid of Jannik and Victor. But so far it looks like we will still be stuck with the likes of Hamza, Skipp, Mavididi & BDCR for another year Stolarczyk / Vieites / Bausor Nelson / Faes / Okoli / Wilson-Brown / Gray Choudhury / Aluko / Thomas / JJ Skipp / Winks / Braybrooke / Page BDCR / Mavididi / Alves / S Thomas Ings / Evans / Otchere / Hutchinson

Ings reminds me a bit of how Russell used Armstrong at Southampton. Not the most prolific but works hard and links play quite well up top. Quick but not rapid and not a huge physical stature. I think Evans has a similar profile too, so hope Russell gives him a chance. Evans also looks to be a top finisher.

Yeah been in pre-season. Currently got: Evans, Otchere, Hutchinson & Opoku. Imagine Opoku could be sold, and maybe Otchere loaned out to L2?

With my optimistic hat on, I think Nelson could stay. Has featured pretty prominently in coverage so far and seems to have led our new kit campaign. Could see Martin really liking Nelson and building the defence around him. Would obviously need him to sign a new contract… maybe a new contract with a get out clause for a reasonable amount if we don’t get promoted straight away?

Great discussion this. Agree with both your points. Only thing I would add is based on this we are currently overloaded in CDM. So unless we can offload a few of these, which obviously most of us want, then any additions in this area would surely be overkill? I can also see Braybrooke being used in a more advanced position, especially initially. Believe he played as a 10 a couple of times last season and looked capable there. Could also give you balance then on each side to either go a more attacking player (BDCR & Chaplin) or slightly more defensive (Page & Braybrooke) depending on the situation. Sadly I just can’t see us shifting all 3 of Skipp, Hamza & Winks. 8/10: BDCR / New? 6: Skipp / Braybrooke / Winks / Hamza 8/10: Page / Chaplin?

Crazy stats from Sammy. Out of interest if he wasn’t ours, ie. Was currently a Chesterfield player, how would he rate compared to those others on your list?

Fair play to him. Looking on transfermarkt Bradford don’t currently have a single CM on the books, so will probably fancy his chances of playing more there. Also would’ve been behind: Skipp/ Braybrooke/ Page/ Hamza and Winks atm for a CM spot with us.

I thought he might’ve been useful as a back up option. Hope this doesn’t suggest we’re not gonna be able to shift the likes of Winks & Hamza etc

Fenerbahçe have just agreed a deal to sign Nathan Aké from Man City. Hopefully that isn’t instead of Faes!! Can’t bear another season of watching him play for us. Very clearly does not want to be here

I would imagine fee will be close to £5m up front, with add ons (some easier/ some harder to obtain) taking the total package up to the £10m figure quoted. Either way I think it’s a fair deal all around. Sadly best cause of action is to probably to use the funds to offset against any losses getting the deadwood off the books, and can then reset using our academy lads.

Imagine Andy King as first team coach, and maybe Begovic player/ GK coach. Although would rather Kingy work with the academy lads and get a more experienced coach in, suspect this could be the solution.

Some genuine positive news from the club. Also given how negative opinions of Martin generally are, surely the fact that Gill isn’t coming with him having followed him everywhere previously is good news? I prefer the thought of Martin + Hourihane compared to Martin + Gill, even if it is just because it’s slightly more of an unknown.
