I think bar one midfield position this team is already as strong as it's going to get. We've got dodecahedron to cover the front line. He could be our 10 and winger. We're clearly after one midfielder but after that I wouldn't expect anyone better than we've already got. We might get a striker in but will they be any better than daka?

Yeah they didn't work out. You can see why some managers like premier league proven players, at least you know they have what it takes and can evidence that. Maybe Coopers alleged comments on wanting domestic players makes a lot of sense after all, there's far less risk involved. He probably looked at our squad and thought there's a lot of duffers there holding the club and him back.

Yes but then those players value increases or they leave so you either keep them and pay them more, sell them and try to replace them but the replacements want salaries they other top 6 teams are paying or you decide not to compete. I'm glad we at least tried to compete with the big teams for a while. It might not ever happen again for any club.

If we can get proven players in of his quality I'll eat my hat (which is made out of straw so probably ok. But I just don't think we're that attractive as a club right now compared to 18 other clubs. PSR and an unknown points deduction maybe 2 and if we get relegated another punishment potentially makes it a pretty hard sell. I hope I'm wrong but look at who we've bought bought so far.

He's a steady player who knows what it takes to survive in the premier league and is a consistent maybe 6/10 player. While I doubt the link is serious it's not that crazy, we're short on numbers right now and would he be worse use to us then say Dennis Praet, Nacho or Soumare has been recently? This is going to be a tough season and we need players with the right mentality and experience, hopefully we supplement that with a bit of skill and creativity too.

I just don't think we were ever really serious about Soule. We're not spending 25-30M on one player. A player worth that much won't come to us anyway.

Can't blame Cooper really. Do you actually think that he looks at all the players available in the world and chooses the likes of okali and ayew? It's where we're at as a club right now. We put the feelers out to see who might be available and want to come here and keep going down that list until we find realistic prospects to bid on. Depressing if we're at ayew already though...
