There is a campaign to have the super rich pay a 1% wealth tax and this would fund most public services, not what you are asking for, but the knock on effect of such a tax would be astronomical. Giving money to people is risky I tend to agree as people are stupid, I know I am.

No doubt those making the most trouble likely do, but there will still be plenty of journeymen who are along for the ride.

When does a protest cross the line in the simplest case, maybe too simplistic to say the individual vs the whole,local justification in the face of national disapproval.

What about if a given individual or group wants the action but not the reaction? Is there a space for feeling the action is justified, but the reaction is too expensive?

Why do you think @coolhandfox is incorrect? Unless you are gaming FFP then you only pay what you are willing to pay, and this must therefore be their worth to the buyer, their value. The fact their value increases after this is irrelevant to the price at that time. You are time travelling with your valuations and @coolhandfox is fixing the price at a point in time.

Sorry @honeybradger that a silly argument. Was Vardy worth more than £1 million when we bought him? Absolutely not. Was he worth way more eventually? Damn right. His eventual value does not define his historic one.
