Manager for the Championship rebuild - who do you want?
TeaMen Tom replied to Happy Fox's topic in Leicester City Forum
I'd rather they keep Smith. At least he has somewhat of a track record managing - unlike these two. -
Thanks Brendan ..... you useless f....

Make no mistake - he deserves most of it. Of course the Board that kept him charge way beyond his due date should get a lot as well. -
Leicester City V West Ham - Pre Match thread

Have a hunch that regardless of what happens, it's gonna be memorable. Don't think relegation is a forgone conclusion. Also think Smith will select the guys who are up for the task. The question being are there 11 of them? -
Leicester 0-3 Liverpool Post Match Thread

They need to change the entire personality of the midfield. There is just no fight left - and a couple of them seem to be out of shape. No matter who is managing LCFC have become a terrible club. The 'not fit to wear the shirt' chants are accurate in more ways than one. -
I like this lineup. Harrison and Aaronson could be pains in the neck buzzing around the MF. Mendy/Soumare/Praet should be able to neutralize. I can see Youri getting caught in a bad moment or two given his current form.
-
Think about this for a second. This whole current mess may have sprouted from this one decision. Managerial malpractice. Anytime thinking of hiring him should think twice, just based on this.

Dean Smith New Interim Manager - Official

IF they can somehow get a result vs City, that would be just the jumpstart this outfit needs. At the very least, the air seems to be clearing...finally. -
Start Cags in a back 3. It's a chance to find out if you can get anything out of him the rest of the way.

Giving Marsch a 3-year deal made absolutely no sense. I like this move better. I wish Game 1 wasn't vs City, but it is what it is. -
One thing I will say about sports in the US - when a team goes down the toilet, the reason is usually incompetence somewhere in upper management. I would agree with you - do a short term hire and then make a long term decision over the summer with a plan in place. That they didn't do this tells me that upper management is either panicking or is clueless about what to do next. It's one of the two.
-
That guy will work for peanuts and without any budget. This Marsch appointment has to work or it could be Sunderland Till I Die - the sequel.
-
It doesn't matter who manages the rest of the season, the club is going down. The current situation is unsalvageable because there is too much crap on the roster. The next appointment has to be about beyond that. Whether Marsch is the guy to get them back to the PL, that's the question. And he really doesn't have much of a track record.
-
What I will say about Marsch - he'll be the polar opposite of Brendan in terms of trying to light a fire under some of these guys. I think a few of them are too far gone but maybe he's helpful to the younger guys. And if we go down, I would expect a few hungry US players making their way to King Power - maybe what you need for a team looking to get back on track.
-
I'm not sure how pragmatic his tactics are. But totally agree that 9 games won't be enough to find out. To be fair he was kind of screwed this season because Bamford regressed and they sold Raphinha.
-
US supporter here - not much of a Marsch fan. The knock on him here among some pundits was that, as some felt about Brendan, if Plan A didn't work - there was no Plan B. But seriously, when things deteriorate to this extent, the problem is management - and not just Rodgers. It goes all the way back to Top and the Board. This club has been going down the toilet pretty much all season and it seems like no one was willing to admit that relegation was a possibility. You have to be realistic in assessing your own squad and it doesn't seem like anyone who's opinion matters was able to do that. The change should have been made back in early February. No manager is going to be able to come in off the street and stop this slide. At this point you basically have to trot Iheanacho out there every match and hope he gets hot. That's about the only way to save the squad from going down and a caretaker manager can certainly do that.
-
If the board is confident they'll stay up, they are living in a dreamland.
-
Also have to think about the financial hit of relegation in terms of job loss at the club, wouldn't you? Big Boy decision coming up and there's no obvious path.
-
This is kind of how things get done in the world. Brendan leaving by 'mutual consent'. Potter sacked at the same time. Wouldn't shock me at all if Potter is in place by tomorrow.

Wonder what the players thoughts are?
TeaMen Tom replied to howiemark's topic in Leicester City Forum
I'm not that they players care all that much at this point. Certainly the new ones might, but for a lot of these guys they're probably thinking 10 more games and they're out of here. -
Centre midfield crisis on the horizon?
TeaMen Tom replied to Bourbon Fox's topic in Leicester City Forum
I'm a huge McKennie fan. Personally I think he's the best current US player, period. I also think he'll be available when Leeds goes down. But, to me, his game is similar to KDH's. Given McKennie's price tag, assuming he returns to Juventus, I think using the money he'd cost in other areas might be a better move. -
The MLS does an annual draft - mainly from Div 1 college and some decent players have come by that route. A couple of others recently are Matt Turner (at Arsenal) and Tajon Buchanon (Canada/Club Brugge) - who actually came from the same program as Opoku. Supposedly Buchanon is signing with an EPL team this summer - already agreed to.
-
Leading scorer for them. Think under the radar signing. Jack Harrison played college soccer in the US too - same league.
-
As long as Amartey is starting, relegation is a possibility.
-
Lookman just scored again. Created the goal himself. #12.
-
After 20 games played, do you think we are going down?
TeaMen Tom replied to ozleicester's topic in Leicester City Forum
I was on the Yes side till I looked at goal differential. LCFC have about the best among the 'contenders' to drop. I think they'll put a run of matches together at some point. But I still blame Rodgers for not getting enough out of the available talent. Iheanacho and Cags should both be playing and should have been playing thoughout this mess.
