Tbf could go either way but of course after much dithering and delay
-
I understand the point of view that there is no vacancy to comment on / RVN is under contract and should crack on. But when you have suffered your second relegation in 3 years, results have been honking, the owner claims in his program notes that they are planning for the summer and your manager suggests there has been no discussions it ain’t surprising speculation ramps up. If RVN stays he will need a good window, start well and hope he can win over the doubters. With a potential points deduction, a suspect recruitment system, disinterested owner and split fan base he has an uphill battle. I would make the change but I increasingly think they stick with RVN.
-
Thanks. Suggests there is possibly little to separate much of the league........and so there is potential to be dragged down or have a promotion push. Just underscores need to get our act together.
-
does that factor for points deduction?
-
Are we approaching flip of a coin territory - that we wait for 1 July find the cash for Röhl or punt on Dyche or run scared of PSR and keep RVN? And if we stick with RVN is anyone really happy RVN - having repeatedly said there have been no discussions on the Summer and he struggled to say outright (when questioned by Owynn) that he even wanted the job (which is a bad joke!)- this option is hardly ideal. The players - we know there is a group who are definitely out ....but maybe this is less of an issue if the Club can clean house early. A large section of fans I don't see coming around.......unless from game 1 there is a Martin O'Neill style rejuvenation and we p*ss the league....and that's unlikely (especially with a points deduction). Meh

Agree it would be shortsighted and v. Underwhelming but I could see them appointing Dyche. Not in a job so no release fee Could start immediately Has his back room staff ready to go His teams have an identity Can organise a defence Probably gets us promoted
-
Exactly this.
-
Good shout. Feels like there is a decreasing pool of options, increasing the prospect of a low ball offer. I worry that with the being all over the shop we may need to sell other assets like Nelson who ideally we keep and build around.
-
If Chelsea pass on Mads what other realistic prospect of raising a sizeable fee is there? Obviously we don’t want to give him away but doesn’t our summer spending depend on selling Mads for a premium.

If RVN stays after all this time and deafening silence, the Club backs him in the summer window (whatever that looks like, raising funds from player sales to bring in his own players probably & maybe Top providing a bit more cash) what’s the chances that Top & co buckle and sack him, if we make a slow start within the first 10 games. I just can’t see it working out and that we delay the inevitable. Keeping RVN I think would be more the Board kicking the can down the road to avoid a decision rather than having faith that he is best placed to lead us. -
With the current recruitment setup I wouldn’t be that confident
-
Hopefully we have some flexibility. That £30m will have to stretch a fair bit.
-
Obviously given PSR funds will be v. limited, but the key for next season will be recruiting a reliable striker (supported by Evans).
-
Looks like we will have limited funds to rebuild due to PSR and I wouldn't trust RVN oversee a rebuild of squad as he hasn't shown an ability to motivate / organise / lift performances and the reality is he would need to work with the majority of this same squad. Also I would be concerned he brings in players and we move him on within ten games and end up with another manager who isn't having the squad.
-
The Club is much different to what it was then - and Little was a young manager with back to back promotions I seem to recall - so I don’t remember the appointment being that controversial (but maybe I am forgetting). I think a lot of fans would get behind a young progressive managerial appointment- the support for likes of Rôhl and Muslic are examples of that.
-
You would imagine with his injury record there won’t be many buyers. A quality player, who seemed to care about the badge but, if there is a buyer then would expect the Club takes the cash and bets they can replace him.
-
No, he didn't become a bad manager overnight. Trouble was at the height of his powers he pushed for greater influence (see Congerton) and Rudders / Top etc couldn't / didn't want to push back. We made signings that didn't work out (it happens), we lost control of the finances (Rudders, Board accountable) and could never recover, we couldn't simply buy again, replace the dross, move out the deadwood and in parallel Rodgers lost a number of the squad. Lots of blame to be shared around.
-
Early Brendan was undoubtedly up there as one of the best managers in our history. no question. If that initial success was sublime, the decline which followed was ridiculous, pitiful and pathetic - though players, Board and Rodgers all share the blame - and his legacy is tarred by the impact of that relegation and bombscare the Club is now. His status is particularly a consequence of him bringing in Congerton who was a disaster and transfer dealings towards the end but, the Board / Top was as much to blame with this and culpable for not reigning him in / sacking him earlier.

The biggest issue with Brendan was him trying to expand his power base / influence beyond coaching / Top agreeing to bring in Congerton. We shouldn’t never have moved from likes of Walsh and Macia. -
With each passing day it increasingly looks like KP are delaying the decision on RVN until the next financial year 1 July. If that’s the case and we waste 4 more weeks then that will surely have a knock on impact on our transfer business (incomings) and early results if organisation and patterns of play haven’t had time to be embedded. Even if RVN ends up staying he can only think the club couldn’t find a better option - hardly a ringing endorsement- and again doesn’t set us up well for the new season.
-
KP leadership playing 4D chess……..RVN and fans don’t need to know the plan.
-
Wouldn’t be my preferred choice no (would prefer likes of Röhl, Muslic, Urs Fischer, Bo Svensson to name a few)

Premier League has charged LCFC with an alleged breach of PSR

A game not determined by who has the best XI but best lawyers…….another nail in the coffin for the beautiful game. Let’s not have this drag out indefinitely, deal to get a reasonable penalty and move on but, Top you need to take a hard look at who is minding the shop for you and take appropriate steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again
