  1. Genuinely just let him go on a free. The absolute worst case is him staying and sucking up those ridiculous wages for another year.
  2. It must be tough being an "in the know" and trying to give inside information what the club is doing when the executives at the club dont even know what the next steps for the club are.
  3. I think his most dangerous positions are down the middle near the box threatening the goal rather than out wide taking on players. Also consider that we're light on strikers and have arguably too many options on the wing and I think that striker is where he should get the most minutes.
  4. Jake Evans has everything you would want in a striker. Pace, finishing, technical ability, movement, work rate, directness. I say give him a fair chance to prove that he is a worthy starter for us in pre season and watch him be a key player for us in the championship. If he was 20 years old he would be considered as a more viable option, which is insane as his youth just shows how ridiculous of a talent he is.
  5. "We have 2 number ones" in reference to f'ing Schmeichel and Ward. Now Ward isn't even number one at Wrexham. Rodgers has a long list of absolutely ridiculous quotes and that one is right up there.
  6. They're all going to be asking for high wages for the championship. Experience always comes at a price
  7. If it's not fit for purpose we shouldn't be offering to host a the England women's team in my opinion.
  8. Surely if youre going all the way back to 1970 for the best world cup you should go back 1 more for the one that we actually won?
  9. Absolute rubbish. Crystal Palace and Newcastle have just won their first trophies ever/in decades. Historically smaller clubs like Brighton, Bournemouth and Brentford are thriving in the top flight. The dream for small clubs is very much alive and well. As much as it has ever been in fact as TV money has meant that a club's success is no longer about its crowd sizes, it's now about recruitment strategy. Let's be clear, the reason we are in this situation now is not because of PSR, it's not because "we flew too close to the sun" or "we dared to dream" or "we challenged the status quo and they didn't like it". It's because we threw a bunch of money around with very little strategy or planning and ended up with a team full of expensive crap players on high wages. The likes of Vestergaard, Faes, Soumare, Daka, Skipp costed us £15-20 mil each, if we buy players that are actually worth those transfers fees then we are still sitting comfortable in the PL. We absolutely deserve to be a championship club simply because we are definitely not in the top 20 best run clubs in the country. One day in the next few years it will finally dawn on our fans, when Brighton, Brentford and Bournemouth are still sitting happy in the PL, that collapses like ours and Southampton's are not an inevitability for clubs that find success through the model of being better at recruitment. Ours are unique situations where Southampton changed ownership and we have had a generational run of terrible decision making over the last few years that will not be recreated for a while.
  10. Sometimes it's not just about performance, it's about what they represent. I dont want to see players like Winks and Vestergaard who dont respect the badge and who are collecting ridiculous wages wear the shirt next season. Also Winks's performance level dropped significantly at the tail end of the championship season and looked out of depth against QPR this season despite us winning comfortably. There's no guarantee he will play with the same form he had at the start of the 23/24 season.
  11. I am just dreading having to see Winks and Vestergaard on the team sheet again.
  12. We paid £7mil for him 2 years ago btw. Ridiculous fee for a £1-2mil player. Genuinely think Rodgers spouting off about lack of leadership and 'young squad' made the people running us lose their heads and forget about everything else.
  13. He was probably thinking of Essex
  14. It's been mentioned but I have no idea if he does.
  15. Louie barry will be too expensive for what he is. Just give Jake Evans a chance instead. Same quality of player minus the lower league loans but at least he's already our player!
  16. There's almost always a sell on clause. Not sure if it's possible when there's a release clause involved though.
  17. Him and Evan Ferguson. The kind of players where people assume they are still the same as when they were in their purple patches but are currently absolute dogmuck.
  18. The fact that all but 3 of those are players we currently have at the club as well... It makes me shiver thinking about it.
  19. Ings Ayew Reid Ndidi Skipp Mcateer Kristiansen Keane Coady Justin Begovic Sean Dyches dream team for the 25/26 championship season!
  20. Some people are sick of our owner twaddling around not getting rid of Van Nistelrooy. I'm sick of the EFL not giving us a transfer ban already!
  21. I'm not guaranteeing that Ivanovic never becomes anything better than what he is now. He could spend a year with us and improve a level. For now 12 goals in the championship is what we should be targeting for a backup striker with potential, not a dream signing. At this point Ivanovic isn't anything particularly special.
  22. What a sad state we are in as a club where a striker with 12 championship goals last season is considered 'the dream'
  23. To be honest we still probably go up again with Ruud in place. We stomped a full strength QPR in the FA cup last season who gave us a hard time last time we were in the championship with Maresca. If we cant get someone good then it's probably best to not start a manager merry go round.
  24. Vardy says he hasn't had any clubs contact him. I was hoping that a la liga club like Valencia or Real Betis would go for him, considering they've managed to make a player out of ayoze perez over there.
  25. We already have bench options for striker in Daka, Evans and Ayew (and sadly Greenwood isn't an upgrade on any of them). If we sign a striker it needs to be a starter, no more sub par 'options off the bench'!
