  1. Chelsea for me. Can't underestimate how much emotional energy a Champions League final build up would take from their players. it's all they'd hear about until the game took place. If this tournament is going to benefit us in any way now, it can only be the draining of Chelsea players. Additionally, if they make it tonight, it is likely to give Man City that extra smidgen of determination to beat them this weekend.
  2. He had to start doing it didn't he? He'd have stayed in their 'B' team otherwise and only had cameos. Now Mahrez appears settled there and Guardiola has confidence in him, he looks their most dangerous attacker. Adding work rate was going to be a must to play in their biggest games.
  3. PSG were rancid. Don't give two hoots about Man City but I am pleased for Mahrez & Foden as a young English player. It's scandalous that players as good as those at PSG behave like that. Absolutely amateur outlook.
  4. Far from a snowflake. PSG have been disgusting.
  5. Whatever you think of Man City, it should be a pleasure to see this PSG team get eliminated.
  6. I don't care if he was a bit mardy, I'm pleased for Mahrez. Hope he wins the thing.
  7. If Mahrez bullies you physically, you know you're a bit of a fanny
  8. Ah, I dunno. Hasn't that always been the case, and England always flatter to deceive in the end. Despite some of the antics from both teams, when you watch these two play, it reminds you of just how good some footballers are. I'm not sure England really have enough of them to do anything special internationally. Not when it comes to the absolute crunch. Hope I'm wrong but I doubt it.
  9. No doubt he should win a hatful of caps. Just a shame he'll never play with the same level of team-mates for England.
  10. I'd swap Inzaghi for Rodgers if I was placing a word in scrabble, otherwise, no thanks.
  11. Granted, his past record in that department isn't great. However, many of these players were like it before he got there. I sense I'm in the minority on here, but I'd rather Man City put them to the sword than the other way around. Either would be funny, mind you.
  12. Footballers aren't known for their stoicism in general but this PSG bunch are such petulant tossers.
  13. That was his sister, the volleyball player Milena Lewandowski. I think we were thinking of signing her to field Kaspers goal kicks.
  14. That's an old Muhammed Ali line that one. 'I don't care how small the ring is, I'd fight that chump in a telephone booth'.
  15. Football you say? You Wolves lads are easily pleased...
  16. I stand corrected. I'd forgotten about that.
  17. When it comes to the big ones, Selby has massive nuts. He must be a nightmare to play. 3 finals, 3 wins so far. That's some record with a 4th edging closer.
  18. Selby always comes across as a gritty character, I reckon it fires him up. In his 3 finals, he's beaten O'Sullivan, Ding and Higgins, 18-14, 18-14 and 18-15. That takes a lot of nerve. He's simply one of the toughest competitors when the pressure's truly on.
  19. I don't think that's true at all. Trumps ambition to that ascend to that position seemed to begin during the Obama regime, and more specifically, when Obama, among others, took the piss out of him at the White House correspondents dinner in 2011. Many political commentators seem to believe that was the point becoming president became his obsession and he hadn't been at all serious until then. One look at his face as Obama delivers the following and the crowd roars with laughter, suggests that was really the moment. Trump has money as his God, until he felt he'd been belittled publicly, then a fire was lit under him. I really don't think the presidency has been a lifelong ambition for him. Obama "All kidding aside, obviously, we all know about your credentials and breadth of experience," the president told Trump as the audience laughed. "For example -- no, seriously, just recently, in an episode of Celebrity Apprentice...at the steakhouse, the men's cooking team cooking did not impress the judges from Omaha Steaks. And there was a lot of blame to go around. But you, Mr. Trump, recognized that the real problem was a lack of leadership. And so ultimately, you didn't blame Lil' Jon or Meatloaf. You fired Gary Busey." "These are the kind of decisions that would keep me up at night," the president concluded. "Well handled, sir. Well handled." The audience roared as Trump sat, stone-faced, enduring the president's mockery.
  20. The one advantage we may get from yesterdays postponement, is that Man City can win the title against Chelsea in their next game. I'd feared a bit of a no show from Peps lot in this one due to other commitments, but they'll be eager to win it on their own turf, under their own steam now. The fact they can do it against Chelsea, with that bit of revenge for the FA Cup semi final and a possible precursor for the Champions League final and I think they'll be desperate to stamp their authority and win this one.
  21. I hope it doesn't clash with his Peaky Blinders commitments.
  22. My memory (though it fails me a lot these days), is that we were pretty much scrambling around by that stage just to get someone in. You're absolutely right that even Stevie Wonder could have seen that he was unlikely to have an impact. It's unusual that a new signing has such a negative response from such a sizeable group of a clubs fans, but many weren't impressed from the get go. I seem to remember comments from (some) Monaco supporters who were astounded at the fee we paid too. Yep, a very strange signing from an otherwise pretty astute manager. There were other mistakes (alongside his successes), but none nearly as costly as Ghezzal. C'est la vie I suppose.
  23. More likely just a huge misjudgement by Claude Puel about his capability to add something to our squad. To be fair to Puel, didn't Soyuncu, Pereira, Maddison, Evans and Tielemans all sign during his tenure? I think he just made a huge mistake with Ghezzal. No manager gets it right every time, though poor Rachid never looked like a player that would prosper in this league. How Claude didn't see that, we'll never know.
