After a long season, a long tournament and with a new season looming the players want to get off on holiday for a couple of weeks. Not hang around to play a game noone cares about.

We need to start thinking about Kane not being at 28 either, he might be buy we need to looking at players before then rather than giving Kane more games to stat pad. Can't see who the next striker talent is though.

Easy from your sofa though isn't it I don't necessarily disagree with anything you'd said there but it would be a pretty huge call to take Kane off as first sub with half hour still to play. The midfield in the squad with Henderson and Mainoo has back up always looked light to me. I wonder if he would have bought Henderson on if he wasn't injured? Bit of leadership but also not afraid to wind them up. Mainoo clearly not rated which makes the choice of him ahead of Wharton staggering. For me, first subs should've been fresh legs out wide for Rogers/Gordon or as you say, Mainoo in the middle but for Gordon/Rogers rather than Kane at that stage.

to be fair I think it's a little easier now we are in league 1. Players have no interest in sticking around now.

You'd like to think he's got enough about him at this level still. Probably prefer not to offer 3 year contracts but he's under 30 still so probably demands it.

Surely Vietes is trying to leave? He's a weird one because we know nothing about him and I'm still not sure I could pick him out of a crowd but he must rather be somewhere else. Not happy with contract size but going to sit on the fence with this one and see how it goes.

Subs were poor yes but players need to take some responsibility too for their inability to control the game after the goal. The 10 minutes between scoring and the hydration break, we failed to manage the game. That caused Tuchel to panic and go defensive way too early. We will never win tournaments and beat the best until we can control a game with the ball. Kane is a brilliant goalscorer, one of the best but he is a hindrance against better teams. Not so much for Bayern Munich because he's surrounded by world class players and they are rarely under the cosh. But for England in the latter stages of tournaments, he's far too deep and we have no focal point high up the pitch. He's also knackered at this point. I don't think Tuchel has changed anything compared to Southgate. But I'm not sure anyone can with the pool of players we have, this is our level, just behind the very best. It's also a mentality thing, if Argentina scored first would they have sat back? They'd have been dirty, horrible and disruptive but they wouldn't have sat on their own box.

Tuchel pretty much decided we aren't good enough to beat them without going full defensive. His squad for me reflects that he didn't really rate us going forward, he picked a squad to see us through games but its not worked tonight. It's an acceptable tournament overall and I think we are about where we deserve to be. This squad is not a world cup winning squad.

Not a lot changed from Southgate really. Just not good enough overall against anyone who is decent. Too many average players.

Once again Kane is awful at the latter stages of a tournament. The reaction to the goal from Argentina was good from the goal and that caused Tuchel to panic.
