  1. I would think if we don't see the Plymouth match as the benchmark then we can't go beyond the Stockport match for real signs of improvement with at least 7 points from the 3 league games with goals and a solid defence.
  2. Spoiling us now with the Burt Bacharach Herb Alpert Casino Royale. Those trumpets! Marvellous
  3. Currently enjoying the James Bond Proms. Always liked John Barry tunes in particular
  4. The evolution of Fleetwood Mac from the Peter Green days to Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks was amazing. So different yet brilliant throughout
  5. I feel sorry for decent people in the area blighted by the scum. I don't blame over stretched police but as soon as any anti social behaviour raises its ugly head even at minor levels it needs stamping on immediately. Of course we also need the carrot as well as the stick
  6. Probably too much class for a lot of the single buyers out there at the time. Some big hits that made no 1 make me cringe
  7. Probably better to build a loyal fanbase buying albums helped longevity.
  8. Sign him on a Hot August Night
  9. The cheating didn't do her much good health wise it seems. I'm reminded of Kathy Smallwood-Cook who was not a cheat but a talented athlete who achieved medals in major championships but had to compete against others later found to have cheated.
  10. Lots of lovely rain down here at last
  11. Absolutely horrible
  12. My late older brother did his National Service from 1959 to 61. He was in The Royal Lincolnshire Regiment (The Poachers) in 1960 they amalgamated with the Northampshire Regiment (The Steelbacks) to become the 2nd East Anglian Regiment. In 1964 they became part of The Royal Anglians as mentioned by BKLFOX.
  13. Cheers. Very interesting. You might be able to find his medal roll card online. I suppose he may have served with his local regiment. Later on blokes went to regiments that were not necessarily local to them. You might have a Leicester man in a mob from say Somerset or a Londoner might be in a Lancashire regiment etc.
  14. Well Burma was no picnic I would think. The Silver War badge suggests your great grandad was either wounded or sick enough to be invalided out. Apparently blokes would wear the badge on their civilian jacket or coat to show they had served their country and a honourable discharge. This would stop anyone passing them a white feather. There are plenty of stories of chaps on leave from the trenches going out in civvies and some twerp giving them a white feather. There is a SWB list that you might be able to find details of. You might also be able to find details of unit etc. Seems your relative signed up before conscription came in 1916. Possibly part of what was known as The New Army that replaced the old regulars and territorial casualties though that early date meant he may have gone over in 1915. Pleased to know you are keeping their memories alive in your family
  15. Sorry, I didn't mean you in particular just a general point
  16. What medals did they earn and do you know their units? Just interested
  17. What worries me is what appears to be lawless don't give a damn about anything good or fine underclass parasites that stains our society. Don't confuse this with the traditional working class.
  18. Looking for any mitigation on the part of the idiots is pointless. They were a holes
  19. One of the incidents happened in the Republic of Ireland
  20. I wonder if that was the first time they allowed themselves to be a passenger in a reckless situation. Of course their families don't deserve this but I wonder if in time they will reflect on why the younger ones in particular were out at half past three in the morning with others putting innocent lives in danger.
  21. Yes a sort of probationary period. Doubt it though
  22. In the past moronic behaviour of various types that makes life a misery for others has been dismissed as youth hijinks
