It is. Jakub has been outstanding at times - as a GK learning he is going to make mistakes. You will find the longer you play Begovic the more mistakes you will notice. Lets use him for backup and to help develop our no1 choice and academy keepers.

No chance should we fall into this trap. He has done well but not been without mistakes. His booting it upfield was pretty poor against Stoke. And at his age his career is only going in one direction. He should be treated as backup and we should be developing Jakub (and using Asmir's experience as part of that).

Agree. As we saw against Cov, we are capable of limiting the chances of the better teams. Our issue will be when we are dicking about and making mistakes. Still not convinced Mavadidi or Daka are 'fixed' either, although i thought Mavadidi had a good game against Stoke. Really interested to know what the line up will be. Defence is a real headscratcher tonight. I just cant see this being Aluko's first start for us - its such a risk.

The general consensus was that we were going to get thumped by Stoke. They huffed and puffed and probably deserved a draw, but there are games we deserved more than we got. It seems there is no making anyone happy even when we graft out a result. I would argue Stoke lost yesterday because they tried to play their own game and didnt exploit our weaknesses enough. Majority of their chances came from us dicking about. If they had pressed Vestergaard and Faes more they would have had more chances. Actually don't think Robbins did his homework on us enough, or he felt as a top 3 side they should come and play to their strengths rather exploit frailties. A take major issue with your first point: First half of last season, this defense did well. 2nd half it got worked out, which is why we dropped points alarmingly and we worked out by lesser team. But Vestergaard is NOT a good defender. He got rinsed by Scotland only a few days a go and has been a defensive liability for years. He is the only international in our defense who gets some sort of regular game time for his country. Faes no longer features, Okoli fringe at best, and RIccy / Thomas as no where near international level. Worth pointing out that after starting this season well, Riccy has been really poor. Worryingly way off the pace. This is not the same defence Enzo had in that 1st half of last championship season.

Horrific weather, and the continued prospect of having to play one of either Ayew, Soumare or Vestergaard. You would think after his disastrous game against Norwich and a terrible international break, Vestergaard needs a rest. He surely cant be starting today. I would go: Begovic Ricardo - Okoli - Faes - Aluko Winks - James Fatawu - Page - Mavididi Daka Bring Bobby on for Page at about 65 mins, as Bobby has proven to be a decent impact at No10. Thomas can step in for Aluko if he struggles there. Monga for Mavi. Just keep the slow plodders out of it.

Watch it again. Vestergaard would have seen the Norwich player near Ayew and that player also anticipated the pass and was running before Jannick even passed it. Is a terrible ball to play at that moment. It hasnt worked since the first half of Enzo season. Teams worked us out in the 2nd half, which is why we started losing to Millwall, Plymouth etc.

He plays a sh1te (and lazy looking) pass to Ayew, and because we get caught out there is loads of space. So the goal was caused by our need to play through Vestergaard, caused by Vestergaards crap pass, and because of the way Vestergaard plays the attacker had loads of room to work with. And apparently, this is the best part of what he offers.

Any news on him? Watching the Denmark game last night, the thought of seeing Vestergaard line up for us makes me foam at the mouth. Sh1te at all levels and an awful defender that we have made our talisman. Can't bear the thought of Nelson being out for months.
