Choudhury looked good at left back when he came on. Maybe one for Stoke there to rest Justin. Coady and Faes has a lot going for it. Enzo has a genuine dilemma there but i think he will play Vestergaard next game as we were a bit more side to side on the ball tonight which i dont think Maresca will have liked . Akgun and Fatawu could start the next game with Mavididi taking a rest. Might be time to try Casadei from the start to build him a bit of confidence. Dewsbury Hall looked better today, Preston are half the footballing side Blackburn are but are just better coached defensively.

Preston are very very limited and yet were joint top until a couple of games ago. This is not a good championship year

i think with Mavididi, Akgun and Fatawu they have that competitiveness built in< I don't think we ever have to worry about them not tracking back. It's either good scouting or very fortunate. Going forward it's clear Maresca wants them both to go for it when they have 1 on 1 with the full back. Bcause of how we play into the middle and out wide i think he basically just wants us to have to beat 1 man to then have the chance to cross shoot or pull back, with the onus on the striker, 2 number 8's and opposite winger to be in the right places. It's so reliant on Winks/Ricardo doing the business in the number 6 positions and the defenders picking the right passes, but the rewards are constant overloads if the opposition dares to push on to us. Explains why we are doing so well away but have looked less fluent at home.

Mavididi to get a blow in favour of Yunus. Save, Casadei, Vardy, Mavididi in case we need some impetus to break them down. Ricardo tucked in off the left, Choudhury playing normal right back.

Our physicality is looking pretty poor. They are first to everything and stronger in the tackle this half.

Blackburn are down the league because they routinely conced, 2,3,4,5 goals. Good going forward but i imagine will concede 4 in this game without us really playing well.

My view on us sticking to the tactical approach is that we will get more proficient and less clunky in when we switch formations etc as the season progresses. the point about us not being able to deliver it in the prem implies that we wouldn't recruit new players into the squad if/when we return. We'd clearly sign about 7 or 8 players to upgrade capability to deliver the tactics, so it's kind of a moot point. I'd rather us create a succesful way of playing and then recruit to that blueprint. If we are on, say, 14 wins after 16 games (ie same again as we have just achieved) then i think Top, Rudkin etc will start looking prettyy early toward 24/25 season at 'who do we bring in that would upgrade us at CB, low pivots, number 8's etc). I think we can already see that there are 2 or 3 new players in the set up that have potential to be premier league quality ie Fatawu, Akgun, Doyle, Winks, Hermansen - and McAteer if he continues to progress.

Our game needs the extra quality of Winks, Hall, Ndidi to work it seems. They probably wont like pace of Mavididi, Fatawu or Daka either

Like the idea that we could put on 2 or 3 subs at half time and look to go at them without over loading the players.

Has Matterface seen any championship football this season? Under rodgers last season we would have had 25% possesion and conceded 3 by now.
