I don’t agree with the Ghezzal comments in the slightest BUT kinda see the “currently lacks end product” debate. However, Fatawu is 19 has all the raw ingredients to be an extremely successful PL player - I don’t think we can say that about a huge percentage of our squad. Let’s not write off a player new to the country, 19 and super talented before a third of a season 🙈

Not with Kelechi’s current performances. Say if others did start scoring, very little of that right now is down to Kelechi’s positive involvement. It’s ok for us to admit that he has had some valuable purple patches but similar to someone like Rashford (one good season in three) that his overall time here has been a disappointment considering his potential.
-
I know they’re not mutually exclusive and I have been very vocal about Jannik next season (still am to a very large extent). BUT I think I’d actually be more annoyed at the club offering Kelechi a new contract at this moment in time. He has been below average at best.
-
I never thought I’d mutter this but of the two - offer Jannik a contract extension and let Kelechi go in the summer. Not that we could only keep one but Kelechi’s flaws are on full show right now….dare I say, this years Youri? Winding his contract down with minimal effort.

The only goalless game in the Championship so far 👀
-
Why do people think it’s ok to defend what has been on show for weeks now? Enzo is still our future but after he “spent time with the wingers on an individual basis” the other international break they have been so risk averse it’s painful.
-
It’s great to see Leeds drop points who have been putting a bit too much pressure on for my liking. A comfortable home victory tomorrow would be a perfect return to club football (I hate the international break).
-
What have I just watched mate? Not sure if should like or hate it?
-
Wingers are streaky by nature but in the main, I’ve been more disappointed than excited by Stephy. His numbers are low for a side that have won 13/16 but most importantly his technique, particularly in the most crucial moments have been found lacking. He has an engine on him, tracks back and will be on relatively low wages hopefully so happy if he’s a back up player (if we get promoted) but would have loved more from him at this level.

I thought that I’d learnt to not let Leicester ruin my mood but here we go again. As others said, it wasn’t the worst performance BUT it also wasn’t good enough for the following reasons - 1) Too many players playing the full 90 when they had been 4/10 at best, I’m looking at you Kelechi and Stephy. 2) I said it on the match thread and yes we’re hugely missing Wilf in that 8 role but Doyle’s progressive passing/left foot lines are missing even more IMO. 3) Enzo ball as others stated looks good when win but boy is it extremely frustrating (almost limiting) when lose.
-
Of course people are emotive but don’t feel there have been as many “OTT” posts as some have suggested. Enzo and his mid game management have definitely been lacking the past couple of games when most needed him. I also hope that I don’t hear RL say he’s smiling after a defeat like the previous two, at first that’s a cute response but further on in the season it’s ignorance to our issues.
-
Can we now please stop talking about Kelechi’s goals per minutes this season? How he played today hasn’t been an isolated issue. Below par.
-
Whether he’s getting doubled up on or not, he is lacking in confidence/decision making. Been desperate to take him out of the game but playing the full 90 mins is far from ideal leadership.
-
Come on now. I think most comments have actually been fair based what has been on show this afternoon. There was talk about only being in second gear so far this season but starting to think we don’t have any other gears 👀
-
Totally agree that we’re scarily missing Ndidi as that 8 BUT also think Doyle and his progressive passing/natural left footer playing is a HUGE loss.
-
Careful mate, pretty sure he’s completed his full redemption arc on here and should be offered a new deal 👀
-
Changes make sense but that starting 11 in the PL would scare me. I know to focus on the now but my head went straight there.
-
I hope I’m not an “idiot” for suggesting that a PL paid striker who is in his peak should have similar numbers for a team that’s won 13/15. Even Kelechi’s biggest fans surely would give a balanced view of his overall performance as 7/10 at best this season.
-
Genuinely not trying to be that guy but if I read your post correctly you’ve implied that Youri and Madders drive the ball forward at pace? That is definitely NOT something that I think we would say were either of their strengths if being honest. If you said, look up and play a killer ball with minimal fuss/thought process - I’d agree though.
-
Mendy may have been paid very well, he also may have not thoroughly enjoyed his time here. He may have had his moves blocked etc etc. A lot of maybes but I come with one certainty….Rodgers is a cock.
-
Please no more Vesty to be offered a new contract. How 95% of opposition sides this season will respect us and not put any quality pressure on the back line. Whilst in the PL, even the lower table sides would offer the same respect. The thought of Jannik running towards his goal, having to defend against a pacy/physical striker still makes me very uneasy.
-
To be fair, Enzo has numerous times said about the importance of KDH and his number 8’s arriving late in the box or they won’t have the opportunity to score. Against Leeds neither KDH or Casadei made runs into the box so not sure what they were instructed to do in that game, maybe we feared their pace on the counter but we definitely didn’t play our natural game when look back on it. A week on the training ground practicing what to do when our wingers have the ball and up against a FB surely will happen this week as we were extremely wasteful in this position on Friday night.
-
I am so conflicted on this one. I started to loathe our arrogance, “we’re going to batter QPR 6-0 etc etc” BUT why are we comparing Boro to Leeds is beyond me. They haven’t spent £35m on a striker like Leeds have (Rutter) and the only names I recognised from their starting 11 yesterday were McNair and a 35 year old Howson. Not saying that we’ll walk all over them but if our PL wage bill (let’s face it, that’s what we have) and very, very good coach in Enzo can’t muster up a bounce back after a below par display then maybe we’re not as good as the previous games this season have suggested? 🤷🏻♂️
-
I find the comparisons between Cags and Faes quite lazy. I tend to forget when Faes was named in the Bundesliga and Premier League Team of the Season.🙈 Cags clearly has(had) his faults but how Rodgers did him dirty is still one of my biggest gripes towards him.
-
I normally agree with a lot of your posts but see this totally differently. Firstly, I need to say that Leeds (begrudgingly) deservedly beat us on Friday night BUT that wasn’t because of the “pacy” strikers. I think that all the credit your post gives Leeds strikers being the closest to PL quality is so far off the mark. I will break down that rationale by simply saying the following - James was a laughing stock at Man Utd, Fulham couldn’t wait to get rid and Championship football is likely his level with pace to burn but zero end product. Rutter before Friday night had scored 2 goals in the Championship so again (fair to say) a tad overrated on here. Summerville is probably the best of the 3 but is he any better than a Palace/Bournemouth winger? Probably not. So saying that based on the above, Jannik is PL quality is too much of a stretch for me. As I keep saying, thank him (hopefully) for his part in getting us promoted and let him get a (last) half decent signing on fee somewhere else.
