Bournemouth (H) Pre match thread (05.10.24, 3pm)

Bournemouth are a good side, lots of pace and score goals. Much better side than us. We need a win badly and I recon Cooper will go slightly less anti football and they’ll do us 3-1. I have no hope in Cooper Ball, it’s neither here nor there, no identity, slow and static. The only patterns of play we’ve put together have been left overs from the Enzo play book. We start slow, concede too many and don’t make chances. We’ve massively over performed our XG and I don’t see how we’ll keep that up with his tactics. I’m genuinely normally so optimistic, this is the first season I’ve not had hope and here we are. -
Very true, it’s similar with Chelsea also. I think it’s a northern thing, fan culture is just much bigger up there, they are more loyal I’d say as well. Even United were singing still in the second half yesterday and their club is shocking right now. You’d never get that in London. Compare Newcastles with Brightons and there’s my point. Although I know Newcastle are a far bigger club.

Terrible system does him no favours, non of this is his fault. He’s still slotting them through the lines and getting us up the pitch, great player.

mad Jj, Wout, Okoli, Kris Winks, Skipp Bueno, Ndidi, Mav JV Apparently

Any last minute tickets ? Can meet at stadium
-
Still looking for one, will pay more than face value now as need it desperately. Can meet in London or at the Arsenal ground today or tomorrow
-
Still after one for collection at the ground/ London either today or Saturday, would be a huge help
-
Anyone still selling 1 ? Can buy two as a pair if needed
-
We miss his quality playing through the lines a lot I think. He must have done something as this is a game he’d play in
-
Where is Vestergaard ?
-
Biggest issue is the system he’s set upon, it’s far too inflexible and doesn’t get the best out of the squad at all. Leaves you with only one winger and relies far to much on a fullback on the other sides quality in attack, which neither are good enough at at this level. When we’ve needed to be proactive with the ball we’ve been disgusting to watch, slow and indecisive, no patterns. It’s only in breakdowns and we play it forward quickly when there is space that we have any joy. Or from a set peice (decent positive that we’re scoring from these now). The only other positive is that we won’t have a lot of possession, and if we can make more turn overs we can get chances, but even then we’re playing with one had behind our back as we only play one winger, and Vardy can just be doubled up on. Not sure where Cooper goes from here as he’s gone all in on this system and it’s just too conservative.

Anyone have 1 spare ? Can meet at the stadium if needed

Awful, seen enough of the way he lets us up to know that we will are not going to be good enough this season. The fact he will never play Mavididi and Fatawu in the same line up due to his obsession with using a full back as a winger is just stupid. Done with him he’s out of his depth. I didn't even turn on Rodger’s until Palace, this is far more obvious

Was at the game, great first half, boys fought hard to hold on. Let down by poor subs too late in the day, momentum had swung and the goal was coming

Palace vs Leicester - Pre match thread (14th September 3pm)

Recon he’ll go: Mads JJ, Wout, Okoli, Victor Winks, Skipp Fatawu, Bueno, Ayew JV -
Still after one please

I agree but in both the examples against Villa, it is when Mavadidi Is on. It’s a different system than what we start in. Kristensen starts games as a left mid and Fatawu at right mid in possession with Ayew playing inside to make a 4 in midfield with Ndidi. When we made the changes with Mavadidi on, Cooper flipped it and played Mavadidi at left mid and JJ right mid,. That meant Kristiansen played LCB and picked it up much deeper and as you can see in those clips, it suits him. In turn playing that system could get you Ricky playing RM which would suit him. Issue is if you start with that, you’d have to drop Fatawu unless you have him playing the high 8/10 roll which I don’t think Cooper would do.
-
Looks a much better player after his loan, has the right attitude for the fight. However the system Cooper plays has him in the left wing position in possession and It doesn’t suit him. He’s much more of an old school full back, where he plays it into the LW and then makes the overlapping run beyond like Fuchs would do. I did think when we brought on Mavididi and swapped the system where he was then the LCB, he looked much better as he was coming onto the ball in deeper positions and then able to make that run beyond. If you play that system it then allows you to use Ricardo as the RWB.

Absolutely embarrassing from us, Jon’s pants are firmly down ( Cooper would have played Bobby anyway )
