What? . VAR worked perfectly then!!
-
What was that from Sterling And why are people moaning about the red? Last man so always been a red. Surely it was only the double jeopardy ruling that prevented it being a red initially. Once it is not a pen why wouldn’t it be a red?

Shouldn’t be! Tugged outside then he trips himself!

BBC in keeping up with play masterclass

First time Fatawu has done the ball through to Ndidi, needs to do it more as it was one of my favourite parts of our play before Ndidi was injured.
-
Like to see Albrighton and Marcal come on at HT. Both wingers just out of form. Not bad players, just not in form.
-
I think Cardiff lost to Portsmouth when they won it, possibly 2008…ish. Millwall lost to Man Utd around 2004 as well.

Sadly you can see what will happen. Posters like these will just piss so many off by doing this to posts and posters that aren’t actually negative and if the worst happens, they will be called out for it. Those calling them out will then be accused of wanting us to fail so they can so ‘I told you so’. But I agree with you. I don’t know about the first poster (only joined a few days ago to the forum so possibly a WUM). The second poster I do recall doing the same last season, shouting down anybody who questioned Rodgers even up to his final days in the role and anybody who suggested we could go down. So I would say their opinion means very little.

I’d say they have a decent chance. Leeds an excellent chance and us somewhere between. I still can’t shake off a possible Leeds, Ipswich and us 3rd even though there were some positive shoots of recovery at Hull last week.
-
Why? What’s the justification for saying they have no chance (which is factually incorrect anyway)
-
Also get your point. It does feel like penalty at Hull aside, Hermansen’s shot stopping has been non existent for a few games. Not that that tells the story when the likes of QPR and Boro only had 2 shots on target anyway and it’s not like he was at fault.
-
Yeah, I figured you were referring to the gap to third (the important one) in which that was correct anyway. But yeah not good coming off the top!
-
I agree with the defence, midfield we have little options anyway. With Ndidi it’s whether we start him or give him more time coming on as a sub but with potential extra time, it’s an unknown how long he’d end up on for so I suppose if you want to manage his minutes, starting him may be the best way to do so. The front 3, perhaps Cannon for Daka but agree with the wingers. Just disagree about the goalkeeper though. I think it sends a bad message to Jakub to drop him when he’s done well. Outfield, a lot are interchangeable for example Doyle and Justin so it’s not a clear cut. Also it’s not like Mads has been his best self recently so I don’t think we are weakening ourselves. Jakub for me is a better shot stopper and I think that could be more important tomorrow!
-
And down to second albeit on goal difference.
-
Potentially could be 120 minutes like a Bournemouth so plenty of minutes to go round. It’s not just about keeping 11 players fit, we need the squad to be sharp and ready for the run in!
-
Those saying start the strongest team, well perceived strongest team presumably you mean those who’d imagine are in the starting 11 most weeks in the league, do you not think some of the others have earned their opportunity by winning in previous rounds to get us here? Goalkeeper a good example, I’m seeing people put Mads in for Jakub. Jakub has been very good in his cup appearances so it’d be wrong in my view to drop him. Marcal another example. Came into the game well at Bournemouth and Stephy has been poor recently so why not give him another chance. In midfield we are so light that we probably do need to give significant minutes to the likes of KDH and Winks.
-
na he’d just manage it in training instead, Seagrave right!
-
Wrong forum to make this point. We managed this just a couple of weeks ago ourselves

I agree with your definition of howler for pens. Re the Daka goal, I was initially really annoyed but even then, I can see why the lineman’s got it wrong. It was a crowded situation and they don’t have the benefit of seeing it again. Perhaps the referees view was better? -
Promotion is the priority for me but that’s not to say I want us to go out the cup as seems to be the accusation levelled by people sometimes at those with this view. What I don’t get is why a lot of people are treating this as a unique opportunity to have got this far in the cup….we are actually very good in the cups at getting to the later stages so this is hardly a rare opportunity for us that is worth throwing away a seasons work for.

All entitled to our own views of course. I think my differentiation between soft and howler would be that to class as a howler, I’d be talking a pen given for a handball when it’s come off a knee not a hand or a clear dive no contact at all. Don’t get me wrong, the game in general is a lot softer than I’d like to see, but in the current day, those are given. He’s come across and put his arm across. They are given elsewhere on the pitch. Even if theirs was in the box not outside, I’m not buying it is any less soft than ours! Anyway, all penalties are subjective and divide opinion. The one truly shocking one was him failing to apply the basic rules and not booking Seri for the sole reason he realised it would be a sending off. -

The only thing that went our way on Saturday was the penalty we did get. That was not a ‘howler’. Whether or not you think it is soft or not is something people will view differently but absolutely not a howler! Even the one that Hull got was as soft if not softer and out the box but gets conveniently forgotten about because they missed it. -
Tough one. Of course we want to give it a good show and we do have a break after from a rest point of view. But the fact we lost Ricardo in the last cup game gives me doubt. Stolarczyk - he has earned his chance during the run Hamza - not really got an alternative Nelson - give Faes a kick up the backside Coady - played well and I don’t think you play him with Vesty Doyle Winks (but peeping through fingers if he goes down as we would be in a mess without him) Yunus (not sure Ndidi will be ready to start but definitely should play a part) KDH (same as Winks above but what alternative do we have in these position Fatawu Cannon (see what he’s got and Vardy to come on later) Marcal (give Stephy a break and see if Marcal can build on his last showing It’s also about rewarding those who have played in the run so far. Particularly with Marcal and Stolarczyk.

Yep. Woodwork as well. You could have a tame shot straight at the goalkeeper like you say or a piledriver that smashed the post, beating the goalie and leaving them stranded. One of these counts as a shot on target and one not…

Does make me smile you were all about winning the league by March earlier in the season But of course, I agree. The team who wins the playoffs might do best (Luton are better than Blades and Burnley this season). And yes it is a good points total to be on. But after being so many points ahead it’d be a bit of a damp squib no? And I did state that I would take second now so I clearly am saying promotion first. I have been all season whilst some were getting by very arrogant and carried away. To be fair, it was the level with Man City thing on the most second tier titles I wanted to beat so more than just about this season. One for the history books!
