  1. They would. The 2008 team were excellent defensively (second best in the league), just couldn’t score. If you put this side against them, this current side wouldn’t score but the 2008 side wouldn’t need to worry about creating chances and scoring as the current side would do that job for them! So yes, 2008 team would definitely win. Plus they got a better points total than this side and finished 22nd, relegated on the last day. This team will be relegated with 2/3 games to spare and finish 23rd (and only because of Wednesday).
  2. He said team, not the club. But this squad of players, ownership and fanbase are much more dislikable than our rivals currently. Derby and Coventry have very good owners and have built themselves up from their own lows. Granted Forest have an absolute t**t in charge. I have never had a problem with Derby fans. They are a much more passionate fanbase than ours who care for their club. Coventry not so much but we are their biggest rival. Obviously don’t care for Forest fans either. All 3 are street ahead of us anyway.
  3. Remember all those on here who were adamant it was the only way to play and sneered at anybody who suggested it wasn’t what we are good at, and that we would be better off pursuing a style that was more direct, quicker tempo and based around pressing, energy and utilising the opportunities to break with pace?
  4. He’d already been dropped from the starting 11 to the bench. Maybe injury has caused him to be left out the squad then. Either way, even if he was in the 11 for the rest of the season, relegation and his contract situation would still see him sold. It might only be a couple of million we get but still profit and we will need anything we can get to stay afloat.
  5. In all seriousness (as your figure there is silly based on your dislike for him) but even as a young player, we will get at most about £2 mill given the circumstances. People will kid themselves we will get more. Shame we had an England U21 defender who’d performed really well in this league and it’s come to the point he has both failed here and will go for a pittance.
  6. Leicester 0-1 Cambridge L Thomas (OG)
  7. Nigel speaking highly of her is very telling. Whilst not without faults, clearly 99% is on Aiyawatt and Rudkin.
  8. With their crimes against football they are lucky we are only talking about misconduct in their contracts
  9. Lots of sensible and fair comments. Personally I think Vichai gets far too much credit when people put the success down to him. He wasn’t crap in that we were successful but you can’t say he was a knowledgable owner with a plan, such as Bloom at Brighton and Benham at Brentford. Their rises have come as a result of their owners. Ours was due to the manager and his team. Where you can credit Vichai is being able to admit his mistakes and taking decisive actions which his son is incapable of on both counts. However, the culture of KP over LC and financial recklessness date back to Vichai. As others have said, hogging the trophy, removal of nods to our prior history, Thai king picture etc. Let’s be honest, we were probably all guilty of just not calling it out at the time because things were going well. But when things go wrong, it brings all this to light. The statue should be in the memorial garden and I have said my piece on that enough before. Ultimately what has happened to the fan base is the worse bit. This cult devotion is embarrassing and a stain on the club. I can’t wish these fans away from the club fast enough. You just know if we had a new owner, these same people would be kicking off and behaving toxically.
  10. Monga is still a 16 year old kid with high potential and will barely cost anything. I’m sure PL sides will be licking their lips a the prospect of picking him up even as a youth signing for the time being. Nelson has a year left and has been dropped. With our relegation, how much can we really ask for? Couple of mill? We could play hard ball but it will only mean he goes for free the next summer. I reckon lower PL or promoted sides, or even the relegated sides would be interested. We’ve seen with players doing well elsewhere that not succeeding here, in this version of the club does not break a players career, particularly not a young player. Charles similar for Wednesday. A year left and clear high potential. PL and Championship clubs will be across a bargain there. Ordinarily, in this scenario, you’d be thinking yeah, pick up the cream of the league we are dropping into. Players like Ballard at Orient. But I’m sure we will be dealing in frees and loans and not spending any fees on anyone.
  11. Nelson and Monga will be gone. Charles won’t be coming to us. All these will get offers from at least the Championship. Hopefully we can keep Aluko and Page and build around them and Braybrooke who will be ready to step up to L1 after a strong season in L2.
  12. Talking mid-season? Rodgers had a great remainder of the season he joined and up until Christmas the season after before it all went downhill. Not mid-season Maresca.
  13. Portsmouth 5 ahead, they get a point against Ipswich in the week and beat us, could be 7/8 points with 3 games to play. So midweek after this one coming when we play Hull.
  14. Oxford have now joined West Brom and Blackburn as being on a points total that we will not reach so yes, we are down now. Oxford might still go down but that depends on Portsmouth. We are finishing 23rd. Second worst finish in our history.
  15. Yep, agree. I feel sorry for people who work for them but not for the ‘family’. Live a normal f***ing life like the rest of us. But I just want my club back really. If he’d just sell, I wouldn’t give a damn either way what happens to him or his business.
  16. And you can already comfortably say we will be closer to being relegated again to L2 than we will anywhere near promotion back to the Championship. If we survive the season actually in business.
  17. 17 wins in the last 90 league league games after this today….
  18. Top scorer in the league vs our defence? Nope.
  19. Ok, call it the final straw. Bear in mind any conversations about next season I have already been clear Nelson is not part of that (in my view) so my opinion he will be leaving this summer is not based on his exclusion today. But it could be the final straw if there was any doubt.
  20. Being excluded for a large chunk of the season at the start, being heavily criticised for his performances, being dropped again for the last part of the season and having just one year on his contract collectively does determine his future I’d say.
  21. Tells us all we need to know about Nelson’s future at the club. It’s a shame. Centre back situation in that squad today is a concern. No pace firstly. And you have Lascelles who can’t get through a game, Vestergaard who is just back from injury and Souttar who if he needs to come on will get injured standing waiting for the 4th official to hold the board up. Absolutely would not surprise me to see us get through 2 of them today and be left with only one standing by the end of the game.
  22. Yeah I mean Middlesbrough have been doing a great job recently (5 winless) and at home to the dross of the league (no wins against Blackburn, Leicester, Oxford, Bristol City and Charlton). They haven’t played Wednesday at home yet. Got a draw all over it.
  23. Let’s be honest, the only teams we need to have our eye on are Portsmouth and Oxford. Looking at the games today; Leicester v Swansea - draw Middlesbrough v Portsmouth - draw Oxford v Watford - Oxford win No doubt people will be surprised if/when Portsmouth take something back from Middlesbrough by lazily looking at league positions but it won’t be. Middlesbrough are awful and have dropped points at home to us, Oxford, Charlton, Bristol City in recent weeks and Blackburn earlier in the season. Oxford that is a very favourable fixture for them.
  24. Chris Davies would be grim. Rodgers yes man assistant. Got promoted from L1 with Birmingham through signing players for obscene fees not seen at that level (mainly Stansfield). Now being found out at Championship level. Would be a crap appointment and would continue to see us deteriorate. But it would be absolutely lazy and expected recruitment from Aiyawatt and Rudkin. Let’s not kid ourselves that McCarron will actually be other than a puppet to deflect attention from the clowns above.
