Yeah I am referring to the overall situation. We have been in administration before. But that was down to the collapse of ITV Digital. We have been down to the third tier. But for his faults, Mandaric knew football and made the right choice for us to bounce back. Our costs were not through the roof then. Like you say, wages were high but even then, Vichai made the right choice to bring Pearson back who sorted it and yeah, no punishments then. Its like all the worst individual situations we have been in look to be coming together to all hit at once is the best way I can describe it.

Your comments on the boycott have come across as critical. If that wasn’t meant to be the case then fair enough. I did comment on your subsequent post about things like sit ins and that is fair. The issue is, when those who are in defence of the owner and shout down any criticism are challenged, they never actually give an answer. Obviously you have come across very much neutral. You aren’t defending things but have said the old seen it worse. Personally I think the worst this club has faced has been in that 2002/2009 range which most of us will have been around for. Genuinely, from here, what would have to happen to move you from that mindset to being angry at how the club is falling? I feel a lot of people aren’t necessarily devoted to the owner but just of a similar mindset to the one you have described. It feels like more people will get there and people do get to their tether at different points which is natural. It is just a shame that most of the fan base can’t be more proactively united to do more about it whilst it is happening than letting it go on….

Fair enough and those would also be effective, perhaps more so. The issue being we have a number of fans who are actively fighting (literally and physically) against pushing for change. You have to start somewhere and it was an effective start as it raised some awareness on the media and with other fans. You can think other ways would be more effective without pulling down the efforts of those trying to do something.

But you haven’t seen a situation like this before because it hasn’t happened. When have we been in this kind of position with the finances, paying out so much above where we are as a club, with people in charge who are showing no desire or capability to improve things. The closest you could suggest would be 2002/2009 time and even then, we weren’t in the same level of bother with the authorities and paying over 100% of our turnover on player wages! But your ending part clarifies your thoughts. Sit around and wait for something to happy whilst criticising those trying to do something about it.

All this on top of Aiyawatt’s golden boot in 2015/16, very impressive!

I think a lot of us have long since been uncomfortable with things like the parading of the trophy, Thai king, status of Vichai over any of our actual past playing hero’s, inside the ground displaying stuff like the club only started existing 2010 etc, it goes on. Oh and Aiyawatt when we won the league with Maresca and the Thai influencers being the pits. Honestly, due to the success we were seeing, I suppose it was grumbles but not enough to cause a revolt which is hardly surprising when you see how many people still won’t say a bad word. Ultimately, had there been criticism back then, it likely would have been shut down but I agree it is reflective of KP that all this has happened. These are things we can take back. The statue should be in the memorial garden, not on the entrance to the ground. They can’t erase our history though. It is what amazes me when all these devoted followers all claim to be supporters for 50+ years. They are blind to all this and the disrespect that KP, even under Vichai, have shown the history of the club.

Thats the spirit Maybe it will, maybe it won’t. It certainly raised awareness in the media. To be against the boycott and mocking it means one of two things; 1. You are happy with the running of the club. 2. You don’t think the club is run well but think it will magically improve by doing nothing. Take your pick…..

Interesting take. I had a different view that assumes that people can be quite intelligent in their wider/earlier lives but not when it comes to this. Essentially, it is a cult and intelligent people can get sucked into cults. It’s more about strength on the mind. My view was that many are of the boomer generation, and likely from the county rather than the city. I am from a relatively affluent part of the country myself and know the types. Many of these people had had their careers and mortgages etc during good times, property prices cheap and career trajectories good. Being able to spend your career with the same company and not be worried about constant restructures and redundancy risks that happen now. All of this changes someone’s perspective on value for money, particularly later in life when mortgages are paid. And this would mean people just pay the season ticket and don’t give it a second thought. It becomes habit. So intelligent people who have done well for themselves, albeit in easier times that we have now, but just can’t snap out of this obsession with KP. And to be clear, this is not tarring a whole generation as plenty of people that have been down there for 50+ years are critical and angry at the state of the club. It is just a reason I think (and from people I know) that seems to be an explanation for some of them.

Was going to say something similar (without giving Rudkin any credit though ) We only have 2 loans so we know there is plenty of capacity for us to bring some in from that perspective. So it comes down to cost and wages. Ramsey is quite young and coming from Burnley. We can read between the lines and know he will hardly be on high wages. If we can’t bring a couple of loans because of not being able to send back a loanee on modest wages compared to many of our squad, Ramsey isn’t really the issue is he….

Good post. Obviously Vichai had things Aiyawatt doesn’t. He was decisive so if he made mistakes (of which he did many), they were at least addressed. He was a better businessman as well and at least kept the finances under control at that point. But it’d a stretch to suggest he really understood football and had a strategy. Look at clubs like Brighton and Brentford where their rise to the top flight and remaining competitive is known to be down to the strategic set up throughout each club by Tony Bloom and Matthew Benham respectively. We’ve never had that. We pulled a couple of gems out of France but we’ve never searched wider. All the good stuff behind the scenes, sports science and the good scouting we did do for a time was down to Pearson and his team. To a lesser extent, the work of Puel and Macia paved the way for better times again. But things like fitness, sports science and mentality have been in decline and lacking since Pearson left and as those he brought in moved on. It’s always been built on weak foundations as you suggest. And yes, making the success all about them is what has caused the cult that we see today. So devoted and brainwashed that they can’t even think critically and accept there are any failings.

No idea. Is the population and demographic of our city and country that different to Derby and Nottingham and their counties? In terms of those who are coming out with this rubbish I mean. I don’t think it’s a midlands thing as it does just seem to be us. I know it has been mentioned that Leicester are self-deprecating but there’s a difference in having humour in the dark times and taking the piss, compared to the outright lies in trying to cover up what is happening at the club. The fact they are so desperate to put the low attendance down to the cold weather than the boycott is an example of it. They say it like it’s something to be proud of compared to a boycott. Most other fan bases, if being run to the ground like us, would see the boycott as a source of pride. There’s nothing to be proud about not attending a game because it’s a bit chilly, if you are a genuine supporter. Fair weather fans, couldn’t give a toss and the apathy has set in.
-
Not hard to figure out it was a combination of all with the planned boycott being a big factor in that though is it? Doesn’t take much sense to realise that no? Nobody is saying every single of those empty seats was people supporting the boycott out of principle but sorry, saying it had no impact is one of the biggest loads of crap written on this forum.

The league positions masked it though. It was obvious from fairly early in the 2021/22 season we would end up relegated before long. And that was just months after the FA cup and Community Shield and whilst we were still in Europe.

Like judging a pug by Greyhound or Whippet standards….

I like it. We had an away kit in the early 00’s with these colours, Alliance+Leicester sponsor. Unfortunately, when I just looked to see when that kit was from, we have also had one with KP on in those colours in recent years so it is not completely separate from KP…
-
In fairness, on the general type football pages on FB for example, among the entitled comments (of which there seem less) I noticed a number of supporters of other clubs asking what has happened at our club to cause this fall. I think most of the entitled comments are from rival fans, general idiots or trolls. Unfortunately, there were fans of ours giving context and explanations about it and then you get the KP lot jumping on it telling other fans that we are happy with things and it’s a small amount of our fanbase being entitled and thinking we should be in Europe and winning trophies every year. This is why I can’t stand KPFC fans. The outright lies. The pulling down of our club. The propaganda they operate on behalf of Aiyawatt. Who literally expects us to be winning trophies and competing in Europe every season? What we do expect is not to be bottom of the distance covered and sprinting stats (I.e basic effort) in the second tier. It’s embarrassing and you can’t blame other fans if they get that impression when some of our own so called supporters are spreading this misinformation.

Premier League has charged LCFC with an alleged breach of PSR
LCFCJohn replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
Yeah but other than all that, what have they done wrong? Only team to break the rules and get so much worse though. Achievements are achievements -
Yeah I agree. More making the point that any ambitions of being at the top end can be quashed now. How far down the league we are is another matter. That said, I can’t imagine the sides coming up from L1 being as strong in terms of ambition and investment as Birmingham and Wrexham. Not a criticism of the sides likely to come up (Lincoln, Bradford etc) but Birmingham and Wrexham spend crazy amounts at that level.
-
Well it looks like the relegation places are done and dusted in the PL, barring a freak come back from West Ham but realistically, that was their chance last night. Assuming we stay up (relegation to L1 is still a possibility until we know about the points deduction, I do think without it we have enough), it will be a hell of a tough league next season so we can already realistically rule ourselves out an automatic promotion push next season. It will be a case of whether we can get our act together enough to have a run at getting in the play offs. West Ham Wolves Burnley Southampton Ipswich - likely to go up though Birmingham - if they keep investing and finally bin Davies Wrexham - finding their feet and getting stronger Sheffield United - likely won’t be as bad
-
Both very good points. Of course it was a success, it is being widely talked about! Maintaining this is another thing but last in isolation was a success. And the point of why didn’t they call come out to make their counter point? The answer, there are likely many people in the middle who aren’t devoted to Aiyawatt and will slowly get there in terms of joining the effort. The hardcore defenders are probably less in numbers than we think.

In seriousness, it is generally clear based on the post. More just wanted to highlight the shit post above mine

I feel like we need a reaction that differentiates laughing with someone at a post that is funny and laughing at someone making stupid comments like the one above this ^

Yeah about 15000 people stayed away because it was a cold school night. Ok…. You're clearly worked up about this and it isn’t hard to know why that is! I doubt it would work as well at another game but that is because many of our supporters are wet and devoted to a Thai billionaire!! Another way to look at it, why did only about 12000 home fans make the effort to go if the strength of feeling is that we should support our supreme leader? Surely more would have wanted to make a stand against the boycott right? Right?
