  1. Southampton managing to flog some deadwood to clubs in Italy and Turkey! Meanwhile no noise for any of ours and if we get any interest from these countries you know it’ll be loans with us paying most of their wages! 19m ago08:38 Onuachu set to join Trabzonspor Southampton have agreed terms for striker Paul Onuachu to join Trabzonspor. The 31-year-old is set to leave St Mary’s after a two-and-a-half year spell, in which he scored four goals in 40 appearances.
  2. I said it somewhere anyway, so what if Rohl came, did really well and got poached. With Dyche, there is only one way it ended and that is sacked. He won’t get poached and managers don’t tend to leave at the end of a contract. Yes he would be free in terms of incoming compensation but he would be on higher wages and at some point, have to be paid off. I’m not saying it would be really soon, just that it is the ultimate end game of his tenure if he came. With Rohl, yes you have to buy him out (might be better news on that with what is going on at Wednesday) but his wages would be less and there is as much chance he makes us money (like Maresca) as there is we end up paying him off. Cifuentes is another interesting option that is now free but could have the perks of Rohl in wages and likely success.
  3. Which wouldn’t really be an issue if we had a contingency plan and strategy such as the likes of Brighton. We’d get money for him and use that to bring the next guy. It’s only an issue as we’d probably bounce back to another Steve Cooper or Dyche!
  4. We clearly wouldn’t be ok.
  5. Given the time ahead of him he has in his management career, without knowing him of course, but with the mess they are in and not getting paid etc, you’d imagine that maybe, this would be a case where for Rohl, just getting out and being free to go to a new club will be a win for him rather than haggling over compensation from Wednesday to him.
  6. And the award for dumbest post of the day on FoxesTalk goes to…..
  7. I put this point to a particular poster known for defending KP/Aiyawatt constantly and just had a reply that Leicester being relegated is always to be expected! So some people will just do mental gymnastics to defend him no matter what happens!
  8. The same guy who has just got Lyon relegated to Ligue 2 for financial reasons? This is despite all the dodgy dealings single handedly keeping Forest under PSR limited. Texor has either caused Lyon to be in financial meltdown as a result of being more interested in dodgy PSR deals with Forest or continued doing this despite the club being in trouble.
  9. Yep, and they brought two off them last summer for big money. I don’t think it’d be an exaggeration to say that the dodgy deals specifically with Lyon is what is keeping Forest afloat, PSR wise. Could be big if so!
  10. You say that but I wonder how much we paid in sign on fee, agent fee and wages for this year. I bet it wouldn’t be far off, if not £9mill. And let’s be honest, he hasn’t offered anything this season. So not so much a blinder as covered the cost of the new contract and year of wages.
  11. I agree. People say Rohl is a risk but the floor as you say; is a lot lower and much more financially draining with Dyche than with Rohl. The potential rewards are much higher with Rohl also.
  12. Let’s say the two most likely candidates are Dyche and Rohl. Take away the footballing factors for a moment as well and just consider financial. Dyche - would be free but probably commands higher wages. Also, given that managers rarely leave due to their contract expiring, it is poached or sacked. We know how it will end with Dyche and it will be sacked and cost us a pay out. Rohl - a small (relatively) compensation to bring him in but lower wages to offset that. There is though a big chance that he will do well and get poached at some stage so we would get compensation for him. So if the reason is that he cost to bring in, I still think that overall, it would be a better financial package for us.
  13. I’m going to go out on a limb and say those who haven’t heard of him are those who are just the day trippers, probably active on social media as well, attacking anyone questioning the club. It isn’t hard to know about a manager who we faced twice last season and who has physically been in our dug outs. Not knowing who he is means you’d have to have very scratch the surface level knowledge of football (so probably applies to Rudkin and Aiyawatt)! I really don’t think these are the kind of ‘supporters’ we need to be trying to please to be fair.
  14. Chansiri says hi
  15. Agree re DCL. Probably a bit harsh on Ferguson. He’s only like, what 20, so stagnated development might be the case. DCL seems like he just had a purple patch like you say.
  16. Anti. Nothing personal against him as I think he is a decent manager and gets a bad name based on style etc. However, I might be falling into what I am suggesting above, perceptions basically, but I don’t think he is the right person to draw the best out of the youngsters we have coming through. Not to say he wouldn’t play them at all, I just don’t see him as the best fit. And like others have said, I’m not keen on the idea he is close with Rudkin who it seems a unanimous view among the fans, isn’t fit to be in the role he is.
  17. The c one yes I’d agree. The F off comes, in my opinion, from a place of frustration more than personal abuse. More often it is things like nepo baby and man child. Nepo baby is actually factual, defined as ‘"Nepo baby" is short for "nepotism baby." It refers to someone who has benefited from family connections’ Man child, well some of the programme notes like having a go at the fans is pretty man child like. One for opinion I guess but not vile and abusive by any means. Supporters are passionate about their club and community. To see those running the club into the ground showing the opposite of this is going to stir up strong feelings. At the end of the day. Aiyawatt makes and is responsible for his decisions. If he isn’t happy at how supporters feel, he has it in his power to change his decisions.
  18. Fair enough. Still think you’re being overly negative about the one single positive thing we have going for the club at the moment….
  19. You did state you disagree with everything in the post that had at the end ‘The fact we've got so many young lads in an around international football is certainly a sign that we're improving the quality of players we're bringing through’
  20. You disagree that having more players in international football at youth level is an indication the quality of players coming through is improving on what it was before? That’s a bit of an odd view but each to their own!
  21. It should really bother us more that our owners are on the brink in their business right? But no, I guess most of us are unbothered by this or actively pleased. Of course I feel for the every day people in Thailand who work for the company and hopefully they will be on whatever happens. But the idea of Aiyawatt losing his business and money and having to work a normal job is quite amusing (as unlikely as that scenario is).
  22. Take a compliment man Fair enough. But was that loose link on the back of you….
  23. Correction, @Ric Flair was interested in Kerkez. The club however will still never have heard of him despite him playing against us this season!
  24. Fair enough. I think to appreciate the job he has done there, you do have to be aware just how much of a shit show Wednesday are, on and off the pitch. It has been a much better job done than it would look on the surface. It’s actually another thing in his favour, the fact he has been used to working in a shit show. Aiyawatt isn’t as bad as Chansiri but there are similarities in terms of their character. Thin skinned, can’t take accountability, man child mentality etc. Rohl wouldn’t be phased I don’t think. But yes, it’s always a risk as sometimes it either just works or doesn’t for players and managers and doesn’t necessarily mean they are bad if it doesn’t work at a particular club.
  25. That was me who made the comment about not having had a long list of previous jobs. And I was taking the piss of course. You are basically writing him off because he hasn’t had loads of jobs and hasn’t already gone to another club. He hasn’t had loads of jobs because he is very young. And in terms of not having gone to other clubs. There’s a few reasons it could be. Maybe he hasn’t higher aspirations than some? Maybe they are looking at free options like Middlesbrough and Edwards. You mentioned Sheffield United. Of course Wednesday aren’t going to do business with United! And Norwich have gone for Manning who is from Norwich and a supporter of them. They are the only ones I think who have gone and got a manager in a job. And maybe the situation at Wednesday is just too complex for other clubs to deal with. It’s far too simplistic to look and say these clubs have gone new managers and it’s not Rohl so he can’t be any good. In terms of what you are missing. You are calling his job at Wednesday just alright! This view suggests you are ignoring all context. The job he did to avoid relegation was phenomenal. Finishing 12th the next season was a good performance for a club with a largely league 1 squad, not being paid and a psychotic owner. Finishing 12th with Sheffield Wednesday is not compatible with other clubs. Finishing 12th with Leicester would be failure. Doing the same with Millwall for example would be ok, about par. And with that Wednesday side it was a great achievement. Who would you want us to bring in?
