  1. No need to be so pacific.
  2. People forget we’re not that Leicester team. A newly promoted teams picks up points at home if they survive. So far, we’ve done that. Fulham are no pushovers and the shoreline was respectable (albeit we were not great) but the -1 on the GD is what counts.
  3. Oh, it’s not the club. It’s the position the club find themselves in. It’s not us alone, everybody is incentivised to sell academy players which will in later years also have affect on the national team.
  4. This is what’s wrong with football though. It’s a system that encourages the sale of homegrown talent. I also heard that Barnes requested to stay and help us get promoted to which he was told ‘we need to sell you for FFP/PSR’. I’m not sure how true it is, but if it is it’s ridiculous. Boys grow up dreaming of being professional footballers and the ones that make it just become assets. Same with Connor Gallagher at Chelsea
  5. Agree with this. Think this will be a very underwhelming but good signing. Same with Skipp. I do think the fee for both is quite bizarre though. Signing them I’m ok with, but the fee’s I’m unsure how we have potentially spuffed 33 million on them.
  6. It’s simple, He’s never been a bad player and I always said this. He should never have been signed by us though, he was never going to suit us with our playing style. Its the exact same scenario with Maguire at United, he didn’t turn to trash overnight and no surprise he was brilliant for us and England but woeful for united. Square pegs and round holes and all that… They both are brilliant players in a low block but god awful with a high line Edit- When I say he should never have been signed I meant at the time, he will do well for us in this playing style.
  7. Of course the FA Final from Kasper but if I’m ever asked about saves I always seem to remember ones against us for some reason. Kasper again, I’m sure was on loan at Cardiff? The season we were relegated from the Championship and it wasn’t one in particular but he made about 10 top drawer saves and we somehow drew 0-0. For this game alone I was over the moon when we signed him. Another in terms of top drawer save was away at West Brom and I was in the WBA end and Steve Howard had a bullet that was destined for the top corner and to this day I have no idea how Dean Kiely saved it.
  8. wouldn’t say it’s harsh, I rate him as a manager but he had no interest in trying to get the fans connected to his style he just said ‘If none of get behind it I will quit’ Coopers first post match he came out and said I could understand if the fans would have got frustrated first half etc. Nothing against Maresca I just already think that Cooper is better at that side of things. Who do I think would be more likely to succeed at a big club… Enzo due to his strengths but Cooper rode the wave at Forest by creating an atmosphere and that’s why he’s trying to achieve here I think.
  9. I love this. A manager that try’s to create a connection between the the fans and the players on the pitch. Maresca and Rodgers were both poor at this. I saw fight in us the second half and it was so much more entertaining than possession football. Loved it, considering I went into the game so negative i’m shocked at how happy walking out I was.
  10. I was hoping that having that start of Liverpool and then Man City would batter the confidence but at the same time I didn’t really gain any confidence from that one as even when we were a good prem team losing 2-0 at home to Liverpool wouldn’t shock anybody. Jury is still out on Ipswich for me until they play somebody they should probably pick up points from. As for Everton, they will avoid the drop they somehow always do and I hate them for it.
  11. Southampton losing to a 10 man Newcastle (after 28 minutes) has gave me the only glimmer of hope i’ve had all summer… Until Monday
  12. No, sentiment won’t help us. I’d rather progress our youth than do that. I think he should go somewhere he’s going to play every week. He deserves to be playing. Unless he was looking at getting into coaching then i’d take a punt on him for his experience around the players and let him learn his trade.
  13. Hopefully you’re right with them being in a similar position to us but what i understood was he was happy with the squad they have. Whilst we are walking a tight rope but have a squad that isn’t nearly ready. I think that would put them in a mini league above our mini league. Its strange what a year of not watching Prem football can do to your knowledge of other peoples squads because in all honesty I know we are in a bad way but haven’t got the foggiest about anybody else at the minute.
  14. Didn’t the wolves fan on here say he was really confident for them this season? Or am I making this up
  15. I don’t think I do have my head in the sand. It’s a business, and you want it run properly yet you are not happy with price increases? The outlay of the club will have increased substantially due to a crazy inflation over the last few years and we don’t expect them to recoup that in the things they can sell? That’s basic business, your outlay increases and your revenue has to. What you’re actually unhappy about is inflation. we froze tickets for years and years, you simply can’t do that forever otherwise you end up making losses, even if that can be funded by our owner we’d be in a worse state for FFP
  16. What do you actually base that on though? He is willing to pump money in but his hands are tied. Let’s not forget where we came from.
  17. I have never understood the thought process of ‘Get rid of KP’. We could have a multi billionaire in charge and it would make zero difference due to FFP being a 3 year rolling thing. People want transfers and want transfers now yet in the same breath lose it how we got ourselves in this financial situation by offering silly contracts. The reality is we based our business plan on coming in Europe and got relegated which didn’t just screw our revenue for 1 year it messed it up for several. The problem KP did was try and compete but if we hadn’t we wouldn’t be happy about that but it’s easy in hindsight to say we shouldn’t have. The issue is FFP clearly ring fences clubs and we were the ‘best of the rest’ at the worst time as it was just before it all exploded in terms of them actually enforcing it. Now as a club we are being sensible financially to try and start again and the reality of that probably means we are not going to be able to compete and will turn into a mediocre championship team until all these contracts are up (yo-yo team at best) and then we start again. FFP is the problem not our ownership. Rudkin is a massive t*at though… He is incompetent and needs to go. Multi billionaires don’t solve your issues, look at Chelsea as a club. He’s ruined very solid foundations. Look at Newcastle, ran well but by being sensible they can’t break that ring fence and will likely probably come about 9th this season. Having the biggest wallet isn’t the one anymore like it used to be.
  18. Found my old N64 recently in the loft and I can’t find any of the games which is frustrating. I am going to start a new collection if anybody has any of these for sale let me know: 1. Zelda- Ocarina of Time 2. Donkey Kong 64 3. Mario 64 4. Mario Kart 64 5. Smash Bros 6. Golden eye 7. Pokemon Stadium 8. South Park 9. Starfox 64
  19. No difference between that and Barnes wanting to stay and us saying you’re going. Its a business and players are just assets. Agree, it’s rubbish.
  20. I don’t think he will go. I think Enzo will want him, we will price him too high and they’ll go for somebody else on the shortlist for a reasonable price. We will have him for one more season and if we stay up or go down we end up selling him next year for 30 mill to a champions league team. I think most of the talk surrounding him and Chelsea is lazy journalism. No doubt he will be on the shortlist but for the right price and I don’t think ours and Chelsea’s valuations will be anywhere near each other’s currently.
  21. I said this to my friend the other day. The strategy is spot on. They get a crack at staying up and if they fail they will have a squad that won’t get completely raided and will have a team capable of winning the league. It gives them great foundations for coming straight back up and then spending to establish themselves in the prem. A real long term, sensible approach from them in my opinion. If they’re really smart when/if they get relegated they’ll keep hold of Mckenna as well. They have to appreciate survival after back to back promotions would be massive as they went up with what was basically a league one foundation. I’d be very happy if I was an Ipswich fan, I think we will see them in the prem over the next decade more than they’re not wether they stay up this season or not.
  22. I agree with this, he is extremely one footed for a pro footballer. I don’t actually think he is technically that good for a pro at the level he is (although that side of his game has improved dramatically). I think where he really makes up for that is his intelligence off the ball and reading of the game. He is also very smart with his body positioning allowing him that extra second on the ball that others do not get. Such a shame to see him go and hope he proves me wrong in thinking he’s not quite good enough for a top club because i’d really like to see him do well, and best case scenario not too well and end up back in a city shirt.
  23. It wasn’t a dig at Enzo, I think at his age he needed to learn more discipline in terms of when to go at somebody and when to go backwards. I think Enzo would have done him a world of good in that sense. It wasn’t to suggest he in particular had shackles on, it was in reference that Enzo played football like chess and moved the ball about to create space. It was just me saying i’m excited to see him in a more direct style of play which I imagine we will have under Cooper. I fully expect us to set up in a 4-2-3-1 and expect us to be a quick, direct counter attacking team (As let’s face it, we’re going to be in a relegation battle) and I think Fatawu will be very exciting in that system
  24. I would love this guy but have we actually had any decent links to him? I think in the position we are in we would be mad not talking to him but I haven’t seen anything from a reputable source, I may be wrong just wondering.
