I agree but, for me, this lad has been around the first team since he was 16, had a rough first loan and 2 successful loans with the latter at Oxford playing against the better teams in this league. A succession of managers come in and start again playing senior players... When chances come it's difficult if you haven't been playing. He needs to continue to play regularly to push him on... He knows this and the club should too. Play him or loan him but if you expect him to say doing neither hell walk for free or be should for a low fee. All indications have been that he could be an England player but he won't reach that value here unless the club develops him and his value

Sit on the bench / forced to play in U21s for 2 years then walk away!! If they are not going to play him, at least loan him again this year. Same for Alves.... Why would the new crop of youngsters sign up to stay here??

Yes he did, but one bad game doesn't mean he is crap... Needs a run of games.

Agree, we have to play winks not Skipp. Nelson had a poor first half but I'm not sure the team as a whole were great in that half. It improved in the 2nd as it did Sunday with the introduction of Winks. I didn't think Hamza had a great game, except for his exceptional goal, which put extra pressure on Nelson... Hamza didn't close down for their 2nd goal.

Agree, didn't have a great game and seemed very shaky at one point but he pulled himself together. Nowhere near his Oxford form especially the games since he was injured (except the QPR game where the whole team weren't great). At this point in his career he needs someone helping him out on the pitchand I don't think that is Faes or Hamza. As someone else said, Hamza at right back did him no favours.

Issue with manager churn is that the come in and don't understand the history of players... Nelson has been around the first team for 5 years, and was a first choice championship CB last season (unfortunately had his 4 month injury layoff). Nelson has to play as many games as possible this season (not just cup games) and if Cifuentes is going to stick with the other 3 he needs to get a loan. At the end of this season Vestergaard will go on a free and if we go up Nelson will "not have experience" so won't get games that season either. Why would he re-sign and not ride out the last season to walk away on a free. Leicester need to give him/get him experience at championship level this season to either use him or give him value to sell. Not sure what's happened with Braybrooke but his career as taken a wrong turn since his injury (injury, bad loan...). This was a guy who captained England youth sides. Maybe all he needs is a good confidence boosting loan or maybe he reached his ceiling. Alves seems to have dropped behind Monga and with others in front of him he needs a decent loan too. One of the issues I have with Alves his end product which isn't great... A good loan will help. Main issue with loans are that Leicester don't seek loans so unless agents promote their players for loans or a club comes in they won't get one. I fear that the younger crop of players will see what is happening to those and not sign a pro contract, simply move on.

I get your point about getting a better contract but I did say currently in terms of youth development... Players are having to push for loans, no loans manager, even when huth was having jollies watching games. Also they don't see a pathway to first team football as they aren't given a chance... Look at the last couple of seasons. The loans they got for this season were because they pushed for them hence going on the last day of the window. We can all see what a mess the club is at the moment, why would you want to be part of that when you could play Prem football either next season or the following season after another season playing in the Championship. He won't need to chase a new contract as if he plays regularly this season, triggers in his contract will likely force the club to renegotiate or they will want to renegotiate. As I said elsewhere, money is part of it but playing at thus point is probably more important. If he is going to the top the moneexpandedy will come

He will expect to be a first choice in the Championship next season and make a decision on what to do at the end. Maresca does like him but he won't be going to Chelsea. If he does play as a 1st choice centre back I would suspect LCFC will be renegotiating during the season maybe due to contractual triggers or because they want to keep him. Will he want to stay at LCFC??? I think they need to sort themselves out and also show him he has a good future there. He isn't stupid and whilst money is part of the picture at this stage he will be looking to play to develop himself further before moving up the wage structures.
