Depends on the wages IMO, but we need (i) midfielders of a different profile to those we currently have and (ii) goals, and he offers both of those, so I'd probably agree on balance.

They want cover, he's relatively cheap, is professional and has PL experience.

I agree. Build around the youth we have, let people like Coady put his money where his mouth is and help mentor some younger players, and rebuild. El Khannouss has what every club needs which is the ability to unlock defences; we should be building around this guy not looking to ship him off. A big ask there re. returning to the model that was successful for us, though, given the higher-ups and scouting team don't look to be a patch on what we had in the second half of the 2010s.

His wages are a problem, but he seems like someone with his eye on what he wants to do after he retires. Hopefully he fancies a crack at management, wants to go and play under Martin (a defender turned young manager) and is willing to take a pay-cut for it.
