EFL Officiating Abomination Journal 23/24
iancognito replied to Trelleh's topic in Leicester City Forum
Stroud was pathetic a few weeks ago and bloody awful tonight. You'll never see a more obvious pen. THAT is why VAR will stay because these idiots miss blatant calls like that. Ricardo gets a high challenge in the first few mins no booking, the next 3 fouls nowhere near as bad all got booked. Compared to the last two refs he was terrible. -
This is part of the issue and has been mentioned elsewhere, people don't want to necessarily go to a lot of the Champ games but know if they give up their ST now it could be years before they get it back and could miss out on the glorious home games of United, City, Liverpool and the rest. Therefore they're literally just there making up the numbers. But Ronnie Todger also had it right when he mentioned that our fans really aren't that up for it. For a lot of fanbases - Leeds, Newcastle, Liverpool, even Forest to an extent, they live for their football. Too many of our fans have City as a hobby, a nice day out, it's not their main passion in life. I see comments like "people leave because they want to get home for their dinner at a reasonable time" and just wonder why they don't say "I'm really not that arsed about the club" By all means, support the club how you want to support them, don't let others lecture you how you support them but next time the players down tools and ship 4 goals in a relegation struggle just remember they're just showing the exact same commitment you did on Saturday.

Nonsense. Last year was awful, pointless aimless passing without purpose. This season it's all about drawing the opposition and then breaking through with fast passing. There's a pattern this season based on quick wingers and a change of formation. The final 18 months of Rodgers were Puel-esque.
-
We used to have that "loyal supporters" chant that went up when people were leaving. Maybe a few more "Cheerio" ones or "we can see you sneaking out" This isn't just a Leicester thing though, there's a lot of libraries posing as football grounds right now.

In many cases I agree with you and the club's history is full of players who were written off and then went on to become heroes or greats elsewhere but this lad doesn't seem to fit our style or patterns of play. He doesn't spot passes, he doesn't close down very well, aside from one tap-in goal early on he's not had any sort of goal threat, I'm struggling to see what his strength is or his value to the team. If you bring in players on season loans you expect them to have an immediate impact or be a positive part of the side. We're not a feeder club or some sort of Championship academy, we have a PL academy thats role is to fill places in the squad, we shouldn't be helping others with development. He didn't pull up any trees at Reading and it's hard to see him getting much better in the next 6 months. If he's not for sale, there's very little point in him being here because he won't be with us after May anyway.

Thing is we received 2009 tickets but did we sell them all? If some were held back it's not as accurate.

Not talking ALL over 50s by any means but there's a lot that have been there every season that barely joined in during the O'Neill years and just do it for the day trip. And I totally agree about the phone addicts who get all the goals videoed and uploaded somewhere because they watch the thing through a screen. I'm well over 40 myself so I'm not coming at this from a teenage viewpoint. I saw a bit of Bundesliga on Sky last night and can only be envious of an entire stadium chanting and joining in no matter what the score.

I genuinely thought these and Ipswich would be top 6 this season, surprised to see them so low in the league. They've looked half decent in all the highlights I've seen. Hoping for some more of the comedy defending they showed today. Probably JV starting but I hope it's Cannon coming on as sub not Nacho.
-
Too many 50+ in the crowd that have been on bus 1 since the 90s and the reduced away allocation isn't helping casuals and lower priority get a look in. Are they still doing ID checks at aways? I haven't even tried to get an away ticket since last season since that started happening.
-
I hope we have a look at him long before then
-
The one thing he has to get better is the decision making. We've lost a couple of goals this season when he's played the wrong pass out or been pressured. There has to be a release valve where you just knock it long as a last option. There were 3 giveaways today and we were only saved because - as seen on a few occasions this season - the finishing in this league is awful. There's nothing wrong with playing out from the back but it needs more rewards than risks.
-
It's an away draw at the end of the day. A lot of bed-wetting replies over the past few days would make you think we lost or got hammered.
-
There will be 8 lines of 4 and a bus in front of the goal in most of those but seriously we need to open up or at least maintain the gap to Ipswich pre-Boxing Day. If they take 1st place off us before then or beat us to take it then it's a psychological hurdle to get back on top.
-
That's one to silence the whingers Enzo out? Idiots.

Didn't lead to the goal did it?

Maresca fuming

FFS. First time in a month I haven't had a KDH Anytime Goalscorer bet.
-
Mainly yes but when people talk about us making mistakes with passing and creating our own issues it's usually from him picking the wrong pass or simply not taking the long option.
-
It wasn't a comment that really needed a stat, not one as misrepresented as that anyway. His pass completion is higher because we pass it more and Iversens kicks were mainly longer. A lot of the passes at the back that get us into trouble are his ones into CBs or centre mids. Most of Iversens were 60 yard clearances to the touchline. Also I wasn't exactly slagging him off just making a point about his decision-making.
-
Great shot stopper but he makes some terrible decisions with his passing. Iversen was ditched because his passing wasn't up to scratch.
-
This team would be great with a striker. Nacho's either 40 yards from goal or 5 yards offside so that he can't be passed to or kills our move. To spend 6m on Cannon and not even give him a debut when he's been fit for a month is just odd.
