Leicester 'could face points deduction next season'
Bryn replied to ClaphamFox's topic in Leicester City Forum
I’m generally not a conspiracist but this is the PL exacting revenge for us winning the league. That shook the financial establishment behind football to their core as they realised they could never guarantee shareholders of established clubs endless supplies of free money if upstart clubs could take them on. The Super League failed, so the new strategy is to use “FFP” to take down clubs with wealthy owners. They’ll tread water over Man City and Chelsea until they’re certain there’s noone who can leapfrog them. If they actually wanted fair competition, it’s as simple as a salary cap and absolute limits on transfer expenditure that are the same for all clubs. -

Forest’s defence that they made an extra £17.5m by delaying the sale of Brennan Johnson is far less arbitrary and nonsensical than FFP itself. -
Ah well, we salvaged some pride.
-
Faes does this every game now
-
God wouldn’t you just want Vardy in here
-
Playing with more width this half which is making a difference.
-
It was working aye. Now it’s not.
-
It’s not working against Championship sides, we don’t have a blueprint to create clear cut chances and we leave enormous gaps at the back.
-
Stolarczyk Albrighton Faes Vestergaard Justin Ndidi Winks KDH Fatawu Daka Mavididi I’d like a look at this second half.

4-3-3*

I’m loathe to criticise Maresca, I rate him as a man and as a manager and we achieved great things for half a season. But this formation is done. It had a novelty factor and generated momentum but I no longer see a point in it. We’re meant to be drawing the opposition on - instead teams are sitting back and smacking the ball over the top. Our centre backs are getting sucked into midfield. We’re meant to be creating overloads - is anyone else seeing that? All I see is enormous gaps at the back and outnumbered attackers. The wingers are doing the same cut inside move everytime and there’s no space and no overlapping fullback to create width. Where are our players? I’d love to see the heatmap because I don’t know what half of them are meant to be doing anymore. It’s time, Enzo. Adapt, or fail.

Think this even more now. Nothing to lose. We need variety.
-
I think we need to try a different system here. I’d like to see us try a more traditional 4-4-3 with full backs making space for the wingers to come inside. I’d say Ndidi, KDH and Winks are capable of totally controlling this game.

Fatawu really playing like a young man today.
-
Chance we get hammered here. Premier League teams waste far fewer chances.
-
No room for sentiment. That’s Vestergaard against a Premier League striker.
-
Choudhury wasn’t stepping into midfield yesterday, both Vestergaard and Faes were. Choudhury was playing like a sweeper.
-
I’d absolutely give him a new deal, but it does have to be on considerably lower wages. He’s still good enough, for me, but we don’t have the ability to pay £100k a week anymore. £50k tops.

Championship winger.

I thought we played fairly well today. The problem we’re having for me is we’re not creating high quality chances, and that’s the whole point of playing this style of football. It’s ok to have fewer chances overall if you make high quality ones and take them. I didn’t think the movement off the ball was good enough in the final third, and the times we got that right we scored. I think a fit Ndidi and Pereira bring a lot of that back. I felt we defended well, bar the mistake from Faes. Hull’s attack is no joke. I thought Justin and Choudhury had good games defensively. I’m surprised Mavididi completes the 90 every week; I guess Enzo just doesn’t think he has anyone to put in for him.

I’m happy with that. Had little confidence going in.
