In fairness you never know. Vardy wasn't too shabby and he hadn't even played in the Championship.
-
My order of preference would be Faes then Souttar. Keep Coady for his experience and I just hope that we don't sell Nelson because I think he could have a very decent future.
-
Absolutely, he's no longer worth it.

I thought it was criminal, looking at Daka's performances last season, that he didn't at least get game time to progress particularly when we were winning. For me it was because Maresca was very much the typical 'style over substance' type manager and, out of all of our strikers, Daka possibly fitted that style best, albeit he was particularly useless at finishing. I'm hoping that Cooper, who is reputed to give youth a chance puts some work into Cannon because given the right service in the right areas, he appeared far more likely to convert than Daka! In this respect I really do believe that Maresca going could have been a blessing in disguise because his system with our players was never in a million years going to work in the Premiership. I think Cannon could come good.

Very true. However, there is a happy medium to be gained and it's not all been about transfers which in fairness, are sometimes kept quiet for sound business reasons. Most businesses however, that are trying to sell a product, spend a lot of money on customer relations in a bid to keep them happy and be assured of their future custom. In our case, I suppose that if the current crop of season ticket holders refused to renew for example, then there's a waiting list to replace them so it's of no concern to them. I must admit to being in the group of people who considered jacking in our season tickets in this year for a number of reasons but particularly the complete shambles behind the scenes for which no-one appears to be accountable. However, after so many decades going you realise that the club remains but owners pass through. We'll give it another year but very usually, we have no spark of real enthusiasm nearing the start of the new season.
-
Can't remember the name of the club, but a few years ago there was one that did quite the opposite and put the name of a charity on the front of their shirt to support it. A nice thing to see for a change. Perhaps we should just put 'Ward' on the front of ours? 🤔

Well investigated, very interesting!

Surely better to have inferior squad players than first teamers? There's going to be a very limited budget. The proof will be in the pudding I suppose.
-
My point is is that we haven't even got a decent first team yet. Get those first, then spend on the padding and backups with what's left. A free transfer is not free, it costs millions in wages. We're bloated as it is.
-
But we've paid millions to bench warmers that have been mediocre, that's a big part of the problem. Get first teamers first, throughout the positions, then add the squad padding afterwards with what left.
-
But the first one has huge scope to improve, is ambitious and can potentially be a future money earner for us. This one at 31yrs, already can't hold down a first team place, is not going to improve and has the potential to go down hill rapidly like Bertrand.
-
In which case, after Fatawu and Mavididi, haven't we already got enough squad players particularly if we adapt formations to changing situations. Arguably one of the reasons we're in the mess we are is because we've been paying high salaries to mere bench warmers.
-
I just think it's imperative, when we're either short of money or can't spend much money, that we sign first teamers and not a plethora of squad players. Arguably we've already got enough of them.
-
I'd sooner give Cannon a go. If at 31yrs he can't be a regular at Fulham why would he be good enough for us? Though I do get he's a utility player. But ... up front and in midfield we need first teamers not aged bench warming squad players.
-
Thought he was more a forward mainly that can fill in on the wing?
-
Fatawu is only 20yrs old. This guy's nearly old enough to be his Dad and still hasn't come good! No comparison at all.
-
Wow, 6 goals in 33 games, sounds like a real stunner! 🤣

Leicester 'could face points deduction next season'

Shouldn't be though should it? They know what the rules are before spending (not that I for one minute agree with them) but they try and push them to the limit to gain an advantage. Some just aren't good enough at administering it. -

It's exactly the same for every other Premiership team. No excuses, basic business. Any business has to juggle and rationalise finances. They would know at the start of every season what their income would be from television/media sources, gate receipts, other sponsorship and perhaps player sales. They would know what current players wages would be. All this would be known before committing to buying any more players and also committing to some further ridiculous wages and contracts. Even then, your allowed to be several millions out! If the vast majority of Premiership clubs are able to do it and work out the vaguaries of amortisation also then so should our lot be. The book stop firstly with Top and then those below him. If the numpty takes the same cavalier approach with the family's business empire then his Dad's legacy is going to eventually go down the pan. I doubt he does. -
Not at all apart from what's on this site whichis hardly convincing stuff but admittedly not a true and full example. My point is is that with Vestergaard, Faes, Coady, Souttar and Nelson, possibly even JJ, none of which the new manager has seen yet to evaluate, we have far more pressing positions to fill like at least 2 midfielders and a striker! Vestergaard, Faes and Coady are Premiership proven despite what people might think of them individually. Souttar despite not playing last season is still a very decent player and Nelson an excellent prospect. A 21yr old apparently non regular player in a different style of Italian football is at best a risk. We, due to circumstances, will not be spending bundles of money, we need to prioritise. He and the centre half position is not a priority. Even if we had buyers for Faes and Coady, I'd still think that money needs spending elsewhere first. Just imo.
-
Don't see anything at all in this guy at all that would warrant spending money. Hardly an upgrade from Coady, Souttar or even Nelson.
-
Ndidi won't be here and I don't see Golding anywhere near at certainly the start of the season.
-
He'd also need to get involved in the game which he rarely does. His few early goals last season, whilst taken well, flattered to deceive. He wasn't good enough for the Championship let alone anywhere near the Premiership. Not even worth a squad number for me unless we're absolutely desperate for numbers for the bench or cup matches.

Whilst I agree, whatever the truth is, it's a mess that any vaguely competent owner and board could have avoided! You can't overspend by the massive amount they have without knowing unless they're particularly stupid. It's probably the latter. -
I'll send the exorcist!
