I've thought the same about tidal, there is a large tidal plant in France and you can see various turbines on the docks in le harve. The general consensus appears to be it's difficult and expensive to maintain. The French one uses a tidal river rather than a general coastline. There is some geothermal potential down south, there are plants in Southampton and at the eden project, but again I think the cost Vs reward isn't as easy as wind or solar. Batteries will help with smaller peaks and troughs, but they won't help if we have several months of generally still weather like we did last year.
-
As it's nonsense, perhaps you could enlighten the group? Unless you are planning on pointing to the countries that have excellent geothermal and hydro resources such as Scandinavia? In which case we need to focus on changing our geology before we start worrying about what fuel we use.
-
We need gas for same reason China uses coal. It's because its a form of power that can be turned on quickly when we have no wind or the sun isn't shining. Nuclear is good as it's on all the time but you can't fire it up between windy days.

So you are suggesting we need to boo him more? Which other players would benefit from this treatment?
-
Hopefully the bus won't turn up then I can have the afternoon off. I can see the DM headlines now: “Polanski’s 55mph Britain? Football fan misses kick-off in travel farce”
-
Its a good job there is no election for 3 years, you are going to explode at the next one if that is your thought process. They do so much wrong. Getting wound up about this is really odd IMO particularly as its a sensationalist headline about things that are factual and easy to check. Its kept me amused instead of writing boring reports. Probably not much of a spectator sport though (no pun intended) so i'll stop and go back to reports. Yawn.

To clarify, the Mail and Telegraph have claimed its a policy or they haven't?
-
At least I didn't call him a tit whisperer.
-
The Mail did not say it was policy they said 'plan'. But then we live in a 'post fact world' so it's probably not relevant to the discussion.
-
Perhaps the media should ignore him altogether? Then you can complain that they have deplatformed him instead. Serious politicians want to be questioned by the media so the public knows who they are and what they are about. Grifters want to hang around on social media and don't want difficult questions so they can't be shown that they don't really have a clue. I know which camp I believe ZP and NF sit in.

No games here. You accused the right wing media of making it up. Polanski was asked about it and decided not to deny it was being discussed. So it's not made up by the media just to pick on the poor greens, it is being considered as part of their transport policy. The only stupid game being played is to try and defend a party from being asked about it's policies. Weird. For what it's worth, it would be entirely logical for the green party to consider policies like this and it would be odd if they didn't IMO.
-
So he should have said no it isn't policy?
-
So I think his answer was supposed to be, I appreciate that the mail has found an older policy in the archives of our website, but I can confirm that it is not party policy and we have no plans to introduce it in the future. It could be he did say something like that and was misquoted by the guardian of course.

Q: [From the Daily Mail] Will you drop your plan to cut motorway speed limits to 55mph in the light of polling showing 60% of your supporters are not in favour? Polanski says the Mail and the Telegraph are always going through past Green party policy documents, and ignoring qualifing comments saying the policy is under development. He says, in a fuel crisis, reducing speed limits can make sense. But he says he wants more focus on public transport. Well at least we now know for certain that whilst its not in the manifesto it isn't being ruled out either.

Leicester will be the first English team relegated due to a points deduction that did not come as a result of administration.
-
Should win both of those.
-
I read about this, they can't deny it because the policy is still live on their website. Its one of many hundreds of policies that are voted on by their membership, so its possible that ZP and his team weren't even aware it was their policy. Its not a serious party really and in many ways its just the same as Reform IMO.

Had quite a few Okells over the weekend, lovely stuff.

Could be a low crowd today

Its just a policy of low-density sprawl to encourage people to move from the city to the suburbs. Hey ho, plenty more green space where that came from. -
Its because she knows you liked your old cat better.

I checked our social schemes and you are right, still gas. Probably due to the cheaper install cost and cost saving to the tenant. Must be our other private schemes and apartment schemes that have heat pump boilers installed. The 4.2% is a ludicrously low figure of 8k houses per year. Its low to the point of being unbelievable.
-
Just what I see on the drawings, I don't pay that much attention in fairness. Maybe the social houses don't have them?
-
I suspect they no longer go in at all. You see hardly anyone cycling from our end of town, just lots of cars.
