Yes, although that is from the David Wilson Homes buyout which is a Leicester company. Davidsons now build over 1000 houses a year and is based in the same office. Bloor Homes is from Hinckley and builds 5000 or so houses a year. Funnily enough, J Bloor also owns Triumph Motorcycles which are now manufactured in Hinckley.

It was built 16 years ago so its probably 6 years out of warranty. Its probably a maintenance issue, it usually is with Public Sector buildings.

If he has done it to sell on then he may have had the foresight to get a warranty.

You wouldn't normally pay for a warranty on an extension but I don't think there is a definite line when it becomes a rebuild. On a new build property, then he would be advised by his funder that a warranty would be needed. Hopefully he borrowed cash for the work and he was advised as such, he would have struggled to remortgage without it. If it was done less than 10 years ago, then yes it's unsellable.

They won't have them. Essentially the lenders have decided that the alterations are to such as extent that it's a new build and therefore requires a warranty to be allowed to lend against it. This will apply for the first 10 years after the works have been completed.
