I think because they can drink it quickly and more of it (because usually less flavour (especially the chilled stuff) and lower alcohol content, people think they're getting more drunk and can brag about how many pints they've had. So they go for Dishwater Black Label or ice cold cerveza. Most of those people have never tried anything else You'd rarely down a really nice ale in one or two goes. Needs to be savoured. Don't get me started in Strongbow. I like cider, which is why I don't like Strongbow.

I think that's an astute summary. It's a system where everyone needs to fit, or it doesn't work. Which unfortunately is probably more difficult to find at a lower level.

I guess it depends on whether you want a defensive force to defend the UK, or do you also want to defend the Falklands, St Helena, Bermuda, Gibraltar, etc. Because if it's the former, then UK armed forces as they stand should be adequate. Our island nation is geographically very defencible, it would take an enormous effort to create any meaningful beachhead. If it's the later then that involves a much higher level of logistics, maintaining a significant presence around the globe in order to react swiftly to any threat, which the UK forces are probably not able to do as effectively as would be liked.

Can't work out how Joanna Page won. I just remembered her being bad at tasks and not funny. Kumail was the highlight of last series, very down to earth for someone who has been in Hollywood blockbusters. Interesting line up next in as much as I am familiar with all the contestants. Not sure how funny Conti will be without a dummy, but might be able to use her skills to food effect and I don't think Petts is particularly funny. Ayoade rarely disappoints though, but there's always one person who either you don't know or don't like who you end up rooting for.

I prefer Holy Grail too. I'm always puzzled, hilarious though it is, that LoB is always the one that is mentioned as prime Python. I wonder if it's more edginess makes people want to be associated with it in order to appear cool? NB. You can't appear cool. You either are or you aren't.

But 16 degrees in Feb wouldn't feel cold, you'd be feeling quite summery, especially if it had been in mid single figures the day before. How we feel about temperature is all relative.

You can't expect a man who has been repeatedly kicked in the head to understand the nuances of these issues.

Like how long would it take to drive a car across the observable universe. (Many times more than it's actually been in existence, if you were wondering. You could watch, in real time, the lives of everyone who's ever lived, several times, before leaving the solar system. As The Hitchhikers Guide says, "Space is big, REALLY big!"

Does so much need spending on defence though? If anything has been learned from Ukraine and Iran, it's that drones costing thousands can take out ships and planes costing tens of millions.

It's not wrong to call it out. What is wrong is to racialise it. To use your own analogy, with only 50 green balls around, it's much more likely that the green ball will attack an orange or blue ball.
