When I was much younger I submitted two novels to be published, neither taken up, though one publisher returned an encouraging letter that suggested I'd only just missed out. This was pre-social media, I imagine self-publishing is much easier now.

Turtle doves are increasingly rare. I've never seen one and I'm a bit of a birder. I wouldn't expect to see one in Leicestershire either, you'd need to go further south or east. Collared doves, now they're two a penny.

I thinking it's worth pointing out it's not just average temperatures that are of concern. There's an increase in heat spikes. The average temperature would be 20c. That doesn't tell you about the huge 10c jump midweek. If you haven't noticed this happening, at least your head will be warm in the sand.
