  1. If they're going to do anything, why can't they... A) Let us know what we can do by way of mitigation i.e. how much we need to reduce wages or sell players (granted, the club probably already know this, but not making it public.) B) Give us the penalty points now, so we know what we're up against. It's only fair to any incoming manager and players. With this uncertainty, it will hamper our ability to recruit.
  2. Sadly I think it'll be yet more apathetic "entertain us and we'll support you" reaction from the crowd, much as it's been for years. The worse we do, the less we'll be supported. Though maybe that'll sort the wheat from the chaff.
  3. All of which is done for the benefit of football apparently.
  4. Having a sci-fi binge at the moment. Recently read Prelude to Foundation and Foundation (the later being almost 80 years old and unintentionally humourous because all the characters (and they're all male) are constantly smoking. Barely a couple of pages pass by without someone lighting up! ) and enjoyed them (despite the dated view of the future). I've also read Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep and it's become one of my favourite books. I've seen Blade Runner numerous times (original and director's cut), but the book is sufficiently different to be worth reading. In fact, BR 2049 probably has more in common with the book. Right now I'm reading Fahrenheit 451 and enjoying that too. Again, dated, yet in many ways Bradbury captures our modern fast culture right on the nose. Got Slaughterhouse 5, Brave New World and Pebble in the Sky lined up too, largely thanks to a quant old-fashioned bookshop in Grantown-on-Spey which was owned by a tiny little old lady who had a lovely for sci-fi and a shelf (behind the till) full of classic Sci-fi!
  5. I honestly couldn't be less excited.
  6. I noticed this too. As prolific as every.
  7. Might as well trust them, because not trusting them will make no difference whatsoever.
  8. What if Rudkin followed you into a toilet?
  9. Trump's speech afterwards Not one word of reason, just total denial of reality.
  10. Looking forward to Andy Zaltzman on the next series.
  11. Apparently, when a mummy and a daddy love each other very much...
  12. If you're going to go, go.
  13. Yep, went last week. Been going there for at least 25 years and it's still just as good. Up market dining for a very reasonable price in a lovely setting. Favourite UK restaurant.
  14. Lovely, been before?
  15. Not all at once
  16. Just back from Shetland. We were lucky, had really nice weather, but it's so beautiful. I was worried that the remoteness might make it expensive and the roads terrible, but no, very average prices for everything. In fact I found it quite cheap to buy unique handmade, local gifts rather than the massive produced stuff you'll find on much of the Scottish mainland. As I mentioned too, the roads were amazing. Even in the remotest of areas, smooth, well maintained and marked. The food... all of it... superb! It's nearly all local produce (what else is there? Norway is as close as Scotland.) I highly recommend a visit to Busta House for a drink in the garden by the sea, Frankie's Fish n Chips, the most northerly chip shop in the UK (and therefore, world?) and Pete's Cafe in Lerwick. At Pete's Cafe had a sassermaet, cheese and onion cob. Sassermaet is a UN recognised and protected food made in Shetland and it was like eating the best cheeseburger ever. Oh, nearly forgot the Cake Fridge. Literally a large fridge at the side of the road in a small hamlet, full of homemade cakes, with an honesty box! The Cake Fridge - Shetland 01595 810911 https://g.co/kgs/1jtrWs3 The beaches (especially St Ninian's Island's tombolo beach) and cliffsides and ocean views were all gorgeous. We were only there 3 days as we were touring Scotland and we want to go back soon for a week or two self catering. If you like wild and woolly, a bit of nature and getting away from it all and not too bothered about nice weather, I highly recommend!
  17. I was also working there for about 6 months as a temp around that time. Best thing was the staff shop. I have over 100 ties that cost 50p or £1 because they've got a nick or a mark on the thin part you tuck away that no one else sees.
  18. I've worked in a couple of calls centres for a few years and one of the problems I think is the English language. We don't have an impersonal plural "you". Whether you mean this person or them, it's all you. French has tu & vous, German has du & sie, Spanish has 4 words! So it's very easy to say "you did this..." meaning the company, but for that person to feel personally accused. NB, we did used to have this if course. Thee and thou... But apparently that was "too complicated", all those thees and thous!
  19. I'd just like to say The Mustard Seed in Inverness is superb.
  20. I keep telling everyone. Transformers are NOT people! When will anyone listen?!
  21. Has Schmeichel got his coaching badges?
  22. Like Prince Andrew has experience of being an ambassador for the UK?
  23. Chelsea pay £10m for Enzo and over spend resulting in a 10 pt deduction, getting relegated, 9 pts adrift of safety. Leicester give the job to Wayne Rooney, who demands that Vardy plays every minute of every game, even stoppage time, cup games and extra time, even when injured or begging to be subbed. Vardy scores 30+ goals and Leicester finish 17th, thanks to goal difference, overcoming their own 10 pt deduction. Scenes!
  24. Is Corberan what Luthien said when she first glimpsed her future husband? Yes, I will do obscure Middle-Earth jokes.
