The quality of our squad suggests we should be fine, which I think is what influences the outside view of us. On the other hand, our three wins this season have been against fellow strugglers Forest, Leeds, and Wolves. Our wins towards the end of last season were against Southampton (tosh), Watford (already relegated), Norwich (already relegated). Our last league win against a decent side was probably Palace at home in April. So it will be a bit longer before I'll be convinced we've turned a corner...

100% Rodgers sets us up to sit back and defend

Leeds look poor. But we don’t really deserve to be in front

Look awful so far

We've decided we can't afford to sack him, but we can afford to go down. -

Another tactical masterclass to try and defend the shaky 1-0 lead -

Think we've been poor today. Don't really deserve our lead to be honest -
Yep. I don’t get the impression the fanbase is going to start chanting ‘Rodgers out’ anytime soon though To be honest a fair proportion of our home crowd would never do it if the board are still backing him
-
Booing, leaving early/boycotts, groaning all pointless - alienates those who want to get behind the team during the game, and often mistaken for having a go at the players (which may be the case, but still) There’s only one thing that will work - shouting ‘Rodgers out’

It’s 6!

On a serious note, the 5 subs rule is a big reason to get rid of Rodgers. He doesn’t have it in him to adapt. You can see it in this game - waiting until 15 mins to go before making a change, having gone two down from a Spurs sub.
-
Double sub from Spurs in the 58th minute when they are 3-2 up. Think whole 5 subs thing is changing the game, and not in a good way
-
This is right. Saying we need top 4 form after today to survive is total rubbish. The wider problem is though that we’d need mid-table (ish) form to stay up and I can’t see that happening under Rodgers.

Good that the planners have recommended approval. Some info leafing through the report: the club proposed a target to limit additional cars on matchdays to 1,200-1,400 (from an extra 8,000 capacity) the planners say this is more than they would like, but it could be "tolerable" with mitigating measures they say temporary parking will need to be found during construction, as 450 parking spaces at the ground will be out of action the planners say the council may ask the club to make a contribution towards paying for more park + ride services in the evenings and on weekends the club might also have to pay for schemes to incentivise people to not use their car, e.g. free or subsidised buses the cops have requested there should be CCTV cameras at "key access points" to allow facial (and vehicle) recognition the Campaign to Reopen the Ivanhoe Line has suggested the club pay towards a station at the ground the club have asked for the planning permission to remain valid for 5 years rather than the usual 3, due to the "economic climate" and the cost of materials (this has been accepted)

100% this. It also shows that the football punditocracy judges managers according to a facile “how much money have they had” metric. There is also the point that owners rarely comment publicly, whilst players are media-trained perfectly to say nothing at all in pre-or post match interviews. The manager has quite an advantage when it comes to determining the media narrative around their own performance.
-
My question is how they will give him before they let him go - and whether it will be too late. We’re still early days in the season obviously, but without a drastic turnaround in form over the next few games we could be struggling. Weirdly despite the awful performances I still don’t get a sense of urgency from the fans. I think a lot seem to be under-estimating how bad a situation we are in.

We are so boring it’s painful

Half an hour and we’ve mustered a lame shot on goal from a free kick

Rodgers the great tactician (!)

Bit of a gamble to hand a half-decade long contract to someone who’s never played in England When did this become normal? Whatever happened to three-year deals? -
Embarrassing if so

Chelsea 2-1 Leicester - Post Match

Went to the game and thought it was a bad defeat. Having slept on it I think we are still underplaying how bad it was. Chelsea away is a difficult fixture. But we have to acknowledge that in professional football, playing with an extra man for 60 out of the 90 is a massive advantage - and all the stats back that up. Their second goal in particular was abysmal from us. To be carved open like that by a team with 10 men is something I’ve not really seen happen very often at the top level. -

Had a huge opportunity at half time. They were down to ten, got drummed at Leeds last week, no Kante, no manager on the touchline. We should have made two substitutions, partly to correct his nonsense line-up and partly to introduce some width to stretch the game. Instead he does nothing. We concede the initiative. He ends up making two substitutions early in the second half. Rodgers has no desire to take the game to the opposition at all. I can’t see how we get out of this rut if I’m honest.
