In terms of female musical talent there's Adele and Lady Gaga. And erm, that's it. Beyonce doesn't write and play her own songs. Everyone else is just a record label reliant pop star. It takes shit loads of talent to write hit after hit and then be able to perform them all with a live band regularly.

Swift interacts and identifies with her fans in a way others don't. She gives a lot to them online and makes them feel identified. She also seems like a genuinely nice person and someone who cares about issues, and is willing to speak out and stand up for them. I think that is what does it for most of her fans. She's someone who people want to be and feel good about supporting. She's also obviously hugely musically talented compared to her peers. She writes, plays and performs all her own songs live. I'll always have massive respect for artists who do that, compared to the glorified karaoke singers that make up 90% of the industry's manufactured solo artists out there.
