I fully understand all of this. Sometimes though I think you need to set a precedent and start to stand up for things that really matter in the world and football is not really one of those things. I'm sure most people couldn't care less who the club has a shirt sponsor and that's fine but for me I wouldn't buy a shirt with their name on it. And that's the crux really isn't it? As fans we can't stop what shirt sponsors we have but we don't have to buy them, especially if the sponsors go against our own ideas of decency.

No owners are perfect but some are a lot less perfect than others. Not saying you are wrong but sometimes it can be a case of be careful what you wish for. I've not seen any serious suggestions of potential buyers. I guess we could sell out to some corrupt oil state of possibly Mike Ashley might like a go. Or maybe we could strike lucky a second time round? To play the Enzo way next season and to be successful at it (ie stay up) will require a significant recruitment in better quality players. Whether we will be able to do that on the cheap remains to be seen.

It depends on the small print in the T&C but firms have to be very very careful in regards to GDRP laws and they can be fined a lot of money, often in proportion to a company's turnover, for breaching them.

At what point to do we leave the jurisdiction of the EFL and enter that of the PL?

Let's hope so because we are going to have to sell before we can buy and that is if the transfer embargo currently under football league rules is not extended by the PL. I suspect that there will be fewer incomings than we really need and any that do come in will be free transfers or loans. Even the purchase of Abdul Fatawu is uncertain right now. Quite possible some other club might hijack that deal as currently I'm not sure we are able to buy him?

You are correct to identify these but all of them are basically making no difference in reality. The only thing that would make a significant difference are to cut player's wages. I'm guessing the free beers etc amount to around half a week's wages for one of our top players? The underlying issue that we haven't been able to raise enough off field revenue to match our spending and it is hard to see that changing anytime soon whilst we are still paying ridiculous wages to players.

Maybe you are earning a good salary but for many, the season ticket at their football club is the one luxury they try to afford. So whilst 5% may seem acceptable to you and, may indeed be acceptable in the grand scheme of the prices for the last few years, for some it will impact quite a bit. Also not everyone has a mobile phone and for some, not over 65 or indeed officially registered as disabled, they either find them very difficult or impossible to use. I, for one, do not have a mobile phone so would be one of those that has to pay. Added to that, the ridiculously low take up this year , shows that a great many people wish to continue with some form of physical ticket. So I'd suggest this is the club essentially ignoring the wishes of a great many of its fans. But this would only mirror the wider relationship between fans and football clubs which has reached a point where basically fans don't matter any longer.

The football is boring, the intent lacking, any though of plan B totally absent. Players who seem to have no desire to win, a manager who seems a bit our of his depth and a board that can't run a business without losing a fortune. Club is just in a bad place right now.

So basically in the the full financial report in spring 2023 the directors stated they were confident we would comply with the premier league's sustainability and profitability requirements. Considering the figures just released I'm not sure how they can possibly have been confident of this.

It doesn't of course but without knowing what their contracts are it is hard to say whether they get an annual pay rise like most people pr whether it is a fixed contract for so many years with interim increases etc. Whatever the case player wages have got to fall and need to fall for the game to become sustainable. I wonder how much we've forked out in agent fees too. Pariahs of the modern game.

I'm not sure that is correct. As it stands we are not only unable to register any new players but we are also unable to offer new contracts to players out of contract during the period of the embargo and presumably unable to offer new terms to any existing player. I may have this wrong so please feel free to correct me. There's no getting away from the fact that these results are truly awful and we deserve everything coming our way. Of course the final figures to be considered won't be quite so bad once we take off costs of women's team etc but to allow wages to increase to that level is simple madness. To me it looks like promotion is absolutely essential. Yes we will end up with a negative points position to start the season but without the Premier League money I think we are truly stuffed for years to come. Missing out will likely or possibly mean a great many years in the doldrums of football. We'd likely not only get a points deduction but the transfer embargo would also be continued, probably for at least one full season and I can't see how we would meet the EFL financial criteria either in the short terms or medium term without off loading most of the first team squad. If we had a decent youth team set up I'd feel more confident but we really don't seem to be able to produce that many top quality players that way hence having to buy more and more players. The rebuild will be massive and without promotion I can see us being outside the top flight for at least a decade and maybe longer. There are examples of clubs taking 20+ years to get back to the top flight and falling well down the league ladder. I'm not confident that won't be us too. The next few weeks are critical to the short and medium term future of the club.

Too true. I feel like we've been mislead at best,possibly lied to at worst, by the club. Sure I recall talk of us not recruiting last season so we could make FFP. Seems like that wasn't correct if the figures being bandied about are anywhere near the truth. Of course fans can shout their displeasure during and after matches but with the club being privately owned there's really very little they can do in practice apart from boycott the matches en masse, which isn't going to happen. I will always appreciate what Top and his father did to bring success to the club but right now that is looking potentially a large price to pay for what might be a long long time in the football wilderness, big financial problems an short terms squad issues. Hope I'm wrong but I fear for the next few years without promotion which is looking less likely by the day.
