  1. Doesn't matter who plays against Arsenal on the season's evidence so far we will be lucky to get out of our own half. They will be far and away the best team we've played so far and we'll be lucky to escape a complete hammering.
  2. Sorry but a draw isn't good enough against a team likely to be around the bottom 6 this season as things look right now. We have a fairly soft first 9 matches and need at least 12 points from them. Right now I can't see us winning many games if any under Cooper. We just look devoid of ideas, structure and quality. That point has probably kept him in a job but it will be too late to sack him soon and I can't see he's going to be good enough to keep us up. There's a reason Forest sacked him and we're starting to see it.
  3. Anything less than a win and Cooper should be sacked. It will be too late again otherwise. Trouble is they haven't looked as bad as their league position and I can easily see them winning.
  4. Sums things up perfectly. The first 9/10 games are absolutely crucial given the opposition we have to play in them. I'd say any fewer than 12 points from those games and we are as good as down. Certainly in a bad situation. I suppose a draw away isn't bad but he's the most negative manager I've seen since Gary Megson. Just can't see where those necessary wins are going to come from. Only a win against Everton will do now. Anything less and I'd say thanks and move on before it is too late.
  5. Not impressed at all. We're set up to be negative and that is what we've seen once the games start. Apart from around 30 minutes v Spurs and 10 minutes or so in the other two matches where we've looked ok. I'm not confident in the manager. The new signings are a mix of who knows and bang average or worse. But mainly I just can't see where the goals are going to come from. We will need to win at least 12 games this season to have a chance of staying up and right now I'm not confident we will win more than 2 or 3. The next 7 games are season defining for me. We have now some games that we need to take points from or we are going to be really up against it. I think any fewer than 12 points from our first 9 matches basically sees us relegated, given the opponents we have to play in the next 6 and those better teams we will not have played by then.
  6. Looks like our shape is starting to form for the season. Basically defend like hell, hope the opponents don't score or at least not more than one, hope they tire a bit and maybe sneak a goal.
  7. The last bit is quite stark. Especially as, i think, any fewer than 11 or 12 points from our first 9 matches will see us with a mountain to climb, especially given the opponents in quite a few of those matches.
  8. Yes but presumably he didn't say from what era. 1970S? or 80S
  9. Interesting mix of views on the Palace message board. A fair percentage just glad to see the back of him basically saying he's been poor for them but a significant minority think he might do ok for us and that he's never been given a proper run of matches. Consensus that he's not got much pace and doesn't win that much in the air though. Does feel a bit like when you go to the supermarket and the area with yellow stickered price cuts and there's only the ham and pineapple pizza left. Hope he does well for us but I'm not sure he's going to score that many goals. Be good if he could get half a dozen based on his time at Palace.
  10. Obviously a very good result but doesn't really tell us anything we don't already know. Good to know we can at least easily beat an exceptionally poor opponent. Hopefully will instill some confidence.
  11. Villa are a very decent side and will not be as profligate in front of goal as Spurs and they are a lot better than Fulham. Think they will win easily. 4-0 to Villa.
  12. I fear this may be correct. I think his statement re player recruitment was very telling. Though , of course, a player doesn't want to see a direct replacement come in, they do want to see signings that at least allow the team to be competitive. Right now it is clear this has not been the case. Two don't event make the starting line up and the other two are basically has been squad players at best.
  13. Won't be a permanent deal just yet another loan to a club with no intention of buying him.. He really needs to go for his own sake. His career is going nowhere here he's just wasting the best part of his career. His agent should be working harder to get this done.
  14. What a mess. Disenchanted key player with little time to move him on and find a replacement. My guess is he will still be here and therefore we have a player playing for us who would rather be elsewhere. Does the manager then play him or leave him out for a worse option, though hard to believe that really would be the case.
  15. Can you just turn up and buy on the evening these days?
  16. Same here to an extent. However, a win helps confidence so I'm hoping we can do this. Cooper really needs a win. A loss here and there will be even more disquiet among fans.
  17. Moyes made it quite clear in his public statements that he was looking to take a break from management at that time.
  18. Well I suppose at least we can't lose during them nor do we have to watch his terrible style of football. Other than that I'm not sure I see a positive.
  19. after €18M + €1M 2cd #LCFC bid rejected. Obviously not the right cds being offered. Typical Rudkin.
  20. Absolutely. Right now we look a disjointed mess. We sit deep, create very little in the way of scoring opportunities. The sole tactic seems to be sit back, hope the opposition don't score or at least only score once and then try to do something for around 20 minutes and hope we get a goal. All this stems from a manger who exudes a negative approach by his set up.
  21. Depends just how bad we are going to be. Wages probably wouldn't be too bad either. I think the manager is a big reason not to come though.
  22. Potential stepping stone maybe?
  23. At least we could all sing look on the bright side of life
  24. He basically has one tactic which is hope the opponents don't score.
  25. Looking a very poor signing. Basically he's come here for a final pay day as no one else really wanted him. He adds absolutely no quality to the side at all and doesn't look like he's even trying very hard right now. Needs dropping but I doubt he will be.
