  1. This is the main concern for me. And they haven't looked like they have any sort of pattern or identity in pre season and that has naturally progressed into the season itself. Early days but we've essentially played for 20 minutes against Spurs and fluked a point because they were so profligate in front of goal.
  2. I'm sure he has. There is a difference though between youth players and established older pros. Also hard to say that we've filled up our ranks with a lot of dynamic youngsters. This doesn't seem to be the direction we want to go.
  3. Right now I'd say McKenna is really in. You're getting players talking about what a great manager he is, how good on detail etc etc. Bigger clubs will certainly be watching.
  4. Maybe I am being a bit harsh but I think this is more to do with public perception and profile and Cooper just doesn't have it. I think most of the other clubs in the premier League have managers that players would rather play for. Maybe I'm wrong and I hope he keeps us up. he's sure got a difficult job. You're probably right re manager choice.
  5. True though. They have a more dynamic manager who is highly regarded, definitely more of a draw than Cooper, plus they look like a progressive and interesting project which looks like it knows where it is going (even if it ultimately fails). Meanwhile we look a bit like a rusty old ship desperately trying to patch up all the holes with any old wood we can find.
  6. It is possible this is the case but frankly we have only ourselves to blame for the financial position we find ourselves in and the potential points deduction that may come our way. It would be naive to think that football agents would not be aware of what is going on and it became even more obvious when it was documented by local press and national press, with leaks from the club, that we needed to sell a player for 30 million to help us make FFP regulations for last year. Although there has been some hysterical reporting there has also been plenty of rational stuff in the press about us. I'd say losing a manager regarded in the sport as progressive, upcoming, high profile and attractive to players and replacing him with a low profile manager with a not especially good record has probably had just as much influence in recruiting new players as some dodgy press articles.
  7. That's not necessarily true though is it. If we have allocated 5 million of our budget on the transfer fee, another wadge on his salary and another lot for the agent then, that is money we don't have to spend elsewhere. Therefore we may not be able to match any other club in a transfer. I'm not saying this transfer is right or wrong. personally I think there are arguments to be had both ways. It is obvious he adds a lot of experience and nous which is undoubtedly useful. However, he doesn't add what we really need which is goals. My main concern really is financial if we are relegated. He's not good enough to drive a promotion push and at his age will have no resale value. This means we will be stuck with him until his contract runs out. A diminishing asset. Indeed I'd say that this is becoming more of a concern with each passing season. If we go down we have very few saleable players that could either bring in revenue or help to significantly offset falling revenue.
  8. Completely agree. I think we played well for around 30 minutes. For the other 60 we were either terrible or very ordinary. We were fortunate that Spurs were so wasteful. Other teams will not be. I expect Cooper to use pretty negative tactics here with 8 or 9 behind the ball in a low block. His record with Forest away from home was absolutely shocking. I know some on here have targeted this game as one we can win. I'm afraid I don't think this will be the case. But all depends on which Leicester turn up. If the one from the first half against Spurs I think Fulham will win 3-1 if the second half then it will be closer but I still expect them to edge it.
  9. Got back at the weekend after 5 days in Paris. Agree with just about all of this. Venues were packed and the support from all nations was fantastic. I think ESPN actually have the TV rights and you could watch it all on Discovery+ for a one -off £3.99 payment. BBC just tends to show GB stuff. Some of the organisation was not as good as London and the volunteers were definitely not as good but were still decent. Attending London and Paris are definitely two of the best sporting experiences of my life. I don't think LA can top either to be honest. They will, of course try to have massive crowds. Apparently they are going to build a 40k venue for the swimming but the city is a bit of a dump and they have pulled back from building a proper integrated transport system which from a spectator point of view was one of the strengths of Paris. Also I wonder how climate change might affect things even more in 4 years time. Temperatures over there can get to extreme levels. Still I'd recommend anyone going if they can.
  10. Not very inspiring. 3 years is far too long. A decent enough pro I suppose.
  11. The best way for our club to deal with morons like this is to say that he will not be welcome to attend any matches played at our ground between us and United. Typical disgraceful attitude, the sort that has basically killed the game and will continue to do so.
  12. No but they would be prepared to pay mega bucks for say the Manchester derby to be in New York. I agree with you and hate the fact that football is a product and that fans make the atmosphere but they no longer make the financial difference they once did. If 1000 fans boycotted Leicester another 1000 would just roll up. Even more so at bigger clubs where there are big waiting lists for season tickets and where season tickets are very pricey.
  13. With the amount of money from TV deals I'd argue that no club should be running up losses and borrowing should only be used to fund structural development such as stadium improvements etc. Truth is that from a financial side fans actually attending matches doesn't make much of a difference anymore in comparison to turnover from other areas. Player wages and agent fees have brought financial trouble to the game and need to be brought under control. I'd start with agents and legally restrict the % they can get on any deal.
  14. Not shown much sign of that in the last few years though have we.
  15. I don't see how his appointment would fit the supposed playing ethos the owner wants. His connections to Forest mean that if things go badly, and with Cooper I fear there is a more than likely chance they will, the fans will quickly turn against him and we risk a toxic match atmosphere. Also from a player point of view who may be considering to come to Leicester he's hardly a positive reason to sign for us. Looks like a desperate appointment. Obviously hope he does ok but suspect he's likely to be out by Christmas.
  16. Probably end up with Oscar Garcia. Would probably be able to disguise any pay off?
  17. Pretty sure we will be looking at mangers currently not in a club or whose compensation fee would be very small. we don't have the money to pay a lot of compensation.
  18. Rumoured to be 10 million Euros so that's around 8.5 million but it isn't a guaranteed payment. It will be a negotiation between us and Chelsea with that as a background figure. They might pay it but if he really wants to leave we're not in a great position. if we were not in such a financial mess we could refuse and put him on gardening leave if they don't pay the full compensation.
  19. Serious question but does Will Still have all the relevant coaching badges. There was a time when Rheims were paying 25K for each game he managed them in?
  20. Whatever happens this needs sorting out quickly. As a club we need to know where we stand. Although this isn't exactly the same situation this is what the general manager of RB Salzburg said about their coach Matthias Jaissle who was eager to leave for another club just before the start of a new season and following a very successful one for the club. General manager Stephan Reiter: "Our view is that a coach that is so busy exploring a new job just two days before the start of such an important season should not be in charge when it starts. We want to start the new season full of energy and conviction. We need 100% focus from all those involved for that." We obviously have a bit more time but this is going to be a huge pre-season for us and we need a fully committed manager and coaching team.
  21. Let's see who the actual shirt sponsor is in the end. However, if it turns out to be the one muted on here I will not be purchasing a shirt. If you consider that to be an extreme stance against a club I support, I respect your opinion, though I have to say I completely disagree. For me it is a decision based on my moral views and a decision I'm completely comfortable with. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and providing it is not based upon ignorance then it should be respected. However, whilst you may consider not buying a shirt extreme what I consider extreme is that for some the very word survival doesn't equate to the mere survival of a wealthy club in the Premier League but to the actual fight for life that goes on in many totalitarian states known for human rights abuses and for the murder of many of its population including ethnic minorities.
  22. The CPS didn't agree. A CPS spokesperson said: “We have a duty to keep cases under continuous review. In this case a combination of the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light meant there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction." I don't believe they ever revealed what the new material was. Also I believe the internal review conducted by Man Utd also decided that he did not actually commit the offences with which he was charged. This is their official statement. "Manchester United has concluded its internal investigation into the allegations made against Mason Greenwood. Our process commenced in February 2023, following all charges against Mason being dropped. Throughout, we have taken into account the wishes, rights and perspective of the alleged victim along with the club’s standards and values, and sought to collate as much information and context as possible. This has required us to proceed with sensitivity and care to obtain evidence not in the public domain, including from those with direct knowledge of the case. Based on the evidence available to us, we have concluded that the material posted online did not provide a full picture and that Mason did not commit the offences in respect of which he was originally charged. That said, as Mason publicly acknowledges today, he has made mistakes which he is taking responsibility for." I'm not supporting Greenwood and wouldn't want him at our club but care needs to be applied in this case as none of us are aware of the full facts. But he won't be coming here in any case as he's almost certainly way out of our budget so no need to worry.
  23. Of course. I didn't really want to let this topic descend into politics etc and I realise that, for me, this is a topic I'm invested in but read the following World Report 2023: Myanmar | Human Rights Watch (hrw.org) Myanmar: Thai State-Owned Company Funds Junta | Human Rights Watch (hrw.org) I think someone else has replied with another answer so I won't repeat it. Maybe they have divested themselves of this link now and if so fair play to them but I'm personally uncomfortable with these links.
  24. Yes seriously. I'm not stupid and fully understand the club's financial difficulties. There just happen to be things I value more than my football club. You can call it madness if you want I prefer to call it something else.
  25. Let's just say I agree with the Government Pension Fund of Norway.
