  1. 5 wins in his last 29 matches as a manager in the Premier League, admittedly with two clubs, but says it all really. That's not too far off a complete season. 0.82 points per game, a total which is quickly getting worse match by match.
  2. Hard to see anything but another defeat and poor performance. Even a 5-0 defeat would not be enough to see the back of Cooper though.
  3. Not really that thrilling at the moment is it and we look nailed on to go down.
  4. Quite clear that 1 The manager isn't good enough 2 The squad isn't good enough either. 3 The board are clueless and recruitment has been pretty poor once again. We're in a mess and we can get rid of Cooper but frankly I don't think anyone keeps this lot up. There are just too many weak players who are not of the required standard especially in defence.
  5. He's not good enough to keep us in this division. Will be ok in the Championship though.
  6. Not worth what we paid for him I'm afraid.
  7. I really don't think he's going to be sacked at the moment. Not saying that is the correct thing but we are not cut off at the bottom and a narrow, on paper, loss to Chelsea isn't going to see the board move against him. Personally I think he will be here until Christmas. If by then we are in the bottom 3 and looking like there is no hope I think he will go as we won't want to give him the January transfer window which will be absolutely key to any chance of survival we may have. This isn't my opinion, I'd sooner he went now, just where I think we are.
  8. The very least I would expect from a manager is that they make us hard to beat. Maybe not entertaining to watch but we need to at least make sides work hard to score against us. Completely the opposite at the moment. Personally I don't think our squad is anywhere near good enough over the course of a full season but we could at least look organised and have a plan. He's just out of his depth but for all the posts on here he's not going anywhere. It is tight at the bottom and we're not cut off just yet so he'll doubtless get some more time rightly or wrongly. Wrongly in my opinion. Fans need to be seen to turn on him at home for the board to even contemplate a replacement. Will that happen? Unlikely I'd say.
  9. Got the break to work with the players that are with us and do some extra work off the pitch and get ready for when we return. Won’t be any days off for the staff." This is all starting to sound like Micky Adams. Well we will get back on the training pitch and the lads will work hard. Blah blah blah. Very glad I couldn't watch today as it sounds like a total pile of ****.
  10. Will he though? I'd say the pressure was greater over these last ten matches which included some we had to win against sides I think we can all agree we expect to be around or in the bottom 8 clubs. Looking at the next few fixtures only West Ham at home sticks out as a match we must and probably most fans hope we would win. If we lost a lot and badly and are still on ten points by Christmas he will be gone but the decision becomes much harder if say we are on around 18 points at Christmas.
  11. Looking at the fixtures when they came out I had us down as needing 12 points from these first ten matches or I thought that would probably be it. The next 6 fixtures will tell us a lot more about our chances but I'm not confident we will stay up if we keep Cooper on as manager.
  12. He's not going to be sacked right now. Let's be honest we'd all take 15th at the end of the season. Not saying that is where we will finish but right now, though I would have liked a few more points, it hasn't been the total disaster most were expecting. Might still happen but I'd say he's here until December. The real decision will be whether or not to let him have the January transfer window or not. It is very hard to see too many points from the next 6 games and if we lose them all and badly then that might be it. But if we can somehow get 3 or 4 points from them then we will probably be not too far cut off making it more difficult to get rid of him.
  13. Ipswich will likely win quite easily. Our defence is just terrible. We concede too much space and too many shots and create so little. I think it will 4-1 to them. Cooper to survive until at least Christmas.
  14. A player who makes Soumare look like a Rolls Royce of a player. Needs to be shipped out as soon as is possible.
  15. Whilst I don't disagree with the thread of what you are saying, when I looked at the fixture list I had in my mind 12 point after the first ten games. This was given who we were playing and where. Let's see if we achieve that, we still have a chance. I don't think that points total was anything that could be considered unachievable given our fixture list. I'm not a great one for stats as the only one that really matters is the total points any team gets. However, I acknowledge some of the underlying stats appear to be of some concern. We concede a lot of shots, we could have conceded a lot more goals by now, and the flip side is we don't create a lot of clear cut opportunities. Right now I'm guessing our goal conversion from shots is quite high? I'm sure someone will either confirm or put me right. Over the course of a season I believe we'd have to be very very lucky to continue to pick up points playing the way we have done so far. There will come a period where are goal conversion drops to zero if we continue to create so little whilst out goals conceded total rises too. Also I think it is quite clear that Cooper doesn't really have much of a clue what his best team is. He also doesn't seem able to get the team to play well for two halves of the same match. I think too that the league is a bit strange this season with 4 teams failing to pick up a win and this is clearly helping us right now. This won't continue indefinitely though and, though Southampton look pretty nailed on to go down, I don't think anyone else is. We will need this luck to continue for a while yet. I also don't think those wishing for Cooper's dismissal anytime soon are going to be rewarded with the positive news they want. The scores in each match and the table do however, give a false sense of security, one which could very rapidly unravel. At that point will Cooper be the manager to get us to safety? I have to say I'm not confident. I think he's safe until Christmas. Then will be the acid test for the board. Depending upon where we are will they entrust him with another transfer window, in which we clearly need to bring in a couple of players, or try someone else?
  16. Doesn't add anything positive at the moment.
  17. Not sure he is. I know what you are saying but is is early days and other sides at the bottom will pick up points. We're currently on track for 32/33 points which will be pretty tight and probably 2 or 3 points too few to stay up. Next three games are crucial. Lose at Southampton and Ipswich then i think we're nearly as good as down. Our fixtures after these three games look pretty daunting. We need 6 points from the next three to be on track.
  18. Is it deluded to actually want to be entertained at a football match? Don't think anyone is talking about challenging for Europe. Sometimes a bit of honesty is a good thing and quite honestly this is like watching the football we played under Megson but with better players.
  19. An often overlooked and key aspect of the game.
  20. There are those on here who have already made their minds up about Cooper and that clearly isn't going to change. I admit he doesn't inspire much confidence in me but today we actually managed to win. A crucial win. I think we need 12 points from our first ten games to give us a fighting chance given who we are playing and that our fixtures after the first ten don't look conducive to a many points being won. Whilst a win is welcome football is also an entertainment industry and it is hard to feel entertained when the stats back up what we see in each and every match. From BBC website so no idea how accurate. Shots 6 by us and 17 by them. Just 2 shots on target though that was the same for both teams apparently. Touches in the penalty area us 12 them 33 We didn't muster a single corner against their 9. Whilst, of course, I acknowledge that we won today, i also don't believe you can continue through a whole season with stats like these and hope to stay up. I think that, to a certain extent, Cooper's hands are tied. I know he could be more attacking and use his subs more proactively but when you look at our bench it is pretty poor. Edouard, Soumare and Reid are not up to the required level and neither is Coady any longer. Vardy will do ok but is way past his best and can't play a full 90 minutes and be effective any longer and Ayew simply isn't good enough either. The next three games are absolutely crucial and whilst I'd feel more confident with another manager in charge that won't happen after today's result and if, a big if, we can pick up 6 or 7 points from the next three he's going to have done enough to be given more time by the board. Fewer than 4 points from the next three and he has to go in my opinion.
  21. If they hold them up in front of their eyes for 90 minutes they might have a better day out.
  22. He may well believe in the team but the in reality I suspect the team do not believe in him.
  23. It really isn't. As we proved in 2016. Of course it is important but you can spend a lot of money but not get things right and you can spend a modest amount of money and get a good management team, good recruitment and a team that functions like a team. I'd say we are some way short of the latter right now. If you are happy with the level of performance this season then fine. Others would disagree with you.
  24. Sure is. Given the fixtures I've always felt we really need 12 points from our first ten matches. Not impossible but looks unlikely right now. Any fewer and I think, given the fixtures to come after these first ten games could see us as good as relegated by Christmas. 19 games as a manger at this level without a win doesn't fill me with confidence. Not sure who needs the win most the club or Cooper.
  25. 18 games in the premier League without a win. That's virtually half a season. Ok most with Forest but that is a terrible record and is reason enough to doubt he has the ability to manage at this level.
