Leicester v Villa Match Thread 31/8/2024
daverollo replied to ozleicester's topic in Leicester City Forum
Wilf masterclass incoming in the creative hole behind the front 3 On the face of it this is a very strange team, especially with Vesty being dropped to the bench for Okoli. At least he has seen sense with dropping Reid and replacing him with Ayew on the left. It'll be backs to the wall defending first half, inviting the pressure onto us with a view to punting it forward for the Fat and Vardy to scrap for bits and pieces. Lump on zero shots on target first half. This is not so much evolution from how we played last season, it is full on revolution. Not sure I like it. -
Jordan Ayew Signs 2 year deal - Official

Whenever I’ve seen him play, it’s always with a decent level of commitment and bottle. Puts himself about and not intimidated and can pose a threat in the final 3rd of the pitch. If he brings that with him he’ll do alright and prove a lot on here wrong. Think Albrighton with a bit more pace. -
Tottenham (H) - Mon 19 Aug 8pm - Pre-Match Thread

Going in with ZERO expectations after the pre-season we have had. Was hoping Cooper would go for evolution, but based on what we have seen so far it looks more like revolution with the formation and where he wants the players to play. E.g. left back bombing forward when we have a far more adept right back who could do that in Riccardo. The wingers as well in Mav and Fat, were great last year coming in from wide positions and their work rate in tracking back and defending was superb in comparison to other wingers we have tried over the years. Anything other than a loss by less than 3 goals would be a surprise, dare I say a draw would be amazing at this stage before kick off. I live in hope though, that by some miracle we will pull something off that completely dumbfounds the form guide. COYB -
23 years old, my arse, he looks older than Wilf! Welcome aboard!

Championship Manager 01/02 (Yes Really!)

Was this the edition where Cherno Samba was an absolute baller up front? Spent far too much time playing this and previous versions all those years ago -
Group C: Slovenia, Denmark, Serbia, England

Shambles. Southgate complete fraud. First England game I have watched all the way through for a couple of years. Nothing has changed. -
Delighted to see the club has finally made a decision. What pleases me most is that they have gone with a manager that 'wants' the job. Not some big time Charlie (Potter) who needed his arm twisting to take on the role and clearly not convinced he wants it. His record is decent and during his spells with England, Swansea and Forest has demonstrated an ability to tweak his playing style to adapt to what he has to work with and who he is up against. Two big things he needs to do short term 1) Win the players over and get them to buy into and believe in the way he wants them to play - I get the impression the players really liked Enzo and his micro management, but maybe towards the end of last season, no so much 2) Win the fans over with some results and strong team performances. Far too many naysayers in here, but if he gets the players playing with the right attitude and application on the pitch then it should get the fans on board. We all know it will be a tough season ahead and will likely be among the favourites to get relegated. Leicester back being an underdog is what most of us of the extended period of supporting the club are used to! Wishing him nothing but the best!

I thought we played pretty well first half. Corners were shite, but we moved the ball around quickly, just couldn’t pick the lock.

This ref is absolutely garbage, blowing up for any contact on a Sunderland player. Games gone full on not contact with this clown. At last Wilf is on!
-
Toughest test we’ve had, good to see us come through it. If Sunderland can find some composure in the final 3rd they’ll make the playoffs with the quality and commitment they showed this evening. Interesting that first half possession was only 51% and we looked the more knackered in the final 10 minutes. A really good to test that Enzo will take a lot from.

FFS, you’ve had a mare

Maybe, but I was thinking tonight how leaner Vesty looks, think he has shed a few pounds. This is also the longest run of games he’s had for us, so his match fitness and sharpness improved, no doubt his confidence growing with the managers backing and team mates actually respecting what he is doing. Looking excellent in a back 3 we’re playing. Looking forward to seeing how Coady fits in, he’ll get plenty of chances.

Normal service resumes after that shot

Just WOW - did anyone actually predict that line up? In Enzo we trust - Certainly looks like an adventurous attacking line up - I kind of like the look of it
-
Quite a few of the Cov players look on the chunky side, hopefully blowing out their arses in the final 20 and we can capitalise. KDH getting his usual stick in here, I love the fact he is not hiding, always finding a position and wanting the ball, he’ll do more good stuff than bad.

Lads look nervous, let’s get some nice passes going and a crunching tackle or two to get the crowd up

I’m enjoying seeing what Enzo has done so far. Some real positives in terms of shape and intensity out of possession. We’ll learn and hopefully Enzo will, a lot more about the team and what’s needed by playing against Liverpool in this game today. -

Two different teams each half again? Or a longer runout for certain starters to build fitness? Eg Winks, Coady -
Welcome aboard Harry! This has the potential to be a really good signing for us. If's, buts and maybe's of course. A fit and motivated Winks as a deep lying playmaker could work very nicely with some of our speedy forwards. Has a sweet right foot and not afraid to pick a pass. Very happy with this signing. COYB

Clean sheet in first 45mins, against a top side. Happy with that. Now to engineer a giant Shithouse in front of the Gallowgate end this next 45.
