  1. Ha good spot, it felt like a win. Kalvin Phillips was our best player that day!
  2. It's definitely better than it was, when I say better... I mean it's more balanced. Teams can run through us on either wing or through the middle
  3. Not sure if that was intentional or not but it made me chuckle
  4. Wait till we've played Ipswich and Southampton (2 teams that Cooper needed massive luck to win ) I never want people to forget just how bad we were under Cooper. We could barely muster a shot and his weird tactics gave the opposition the freedom of their left wing to attack.
  5. You know what to do Mr Wilder! Sign that man up.
  6. Not sure why he'd accept that. Can't imagine any club would be clown enough to pay him what we are, even with the relegation clause.
  7. Finally seen the replay. Even I think it's a pen and red. Absolutely atrocious decision making by the CB there. Manning is a clown if he thinks that's not a read. Double jeopardy only applies if you make an attempt for the ball. Pulling the man down first and then kicking it doesn't qualify
  8. Wait how old are they? If they're over the age of 10 then that's insane
  9. Not really sure losing to one of the finest teams in Europe is bottling it. Had Spurs or Chelsea gone out, that would be bottling it.
  10. That's a massive shame, the club just doesn't hold an ounce of respect for the fans. Would have been some great PR if they acknowledged that they intended to do something themselves, but instead have allowed UFS to put one on given the quality of TIFOs we've seen before. I guess you boys aren't too popular with the decision makers atm though
  11. I asked ChatGPT to come up with a system that primarily focuses on the sustainability and future of football clubs. Gotta say, I think it's pretty good. Doesn't prevent owner investment but ensures that if the owner decides to leave one day, that the club won't collapse under debt obligations. Fixing Football Finance: The Sustainable Commitment Model (SCM) Ultimate Goal: Prevent clubs from being financially destroyed by reckless ownership while allowing ambition and sustainable growth. Core Principle: A club must be able to survive and honour its financial commitments without owner support, if necessary. 1. Cash-Based Compliance (CBC) Clubs report actual cash inflows and outflows, not amortised accounting figures. Covers: transfer payments, wages, agent fees, and real-time revenue. Removes timing tricks and ensures spending reflects current affordability. 2. Equity-Only Owner Funding Owners can inject money, but only as equity (non-repayable). No loans, no debt leverage, no financial strings. Ensures club isn’t loaded with repayable obligations that can collapse it. 3. Rolling 3-Year Spend Cap Total annual football outgoings (wages + transfers + agents) capped at 80% of average 3-year revenue. Scales ambition to income, rewards stable growth. Forces choice between transfer splurges and wage inflation. 4. Live Obligations Dashboard Monthly reporting of all financial commitments: Transfer instalments, wage bills, bonus triggers. 12-month and 36-month projections. Monitored centrally for early warning signs. 5. Pre-Season "Going Concern" Test Independent auditors assess whether club can operate safely for next 12 months. Clubs that fail: Can be blocked from registering new players. May face enforced restructuring or change of ownership. 6. Net Transfer Cap Trigger If a club records net spend > £150m over 2 years, it must: Pass a forward cash-flow test. Submit sustainability plan. Publish an independent audit. Comparison to Current PSR Rules: Feature Current PSR SCM Proposal Basis Accounting (amortisation) Real cash-based accounting Owner Funding Unlimited loans allowed Only equity allowed Transfer Reporting Amortised Actual spend as paid Risk Detection Reactive (after breaches) Proactive (dashboard + audits) Fairness to Small Clubs Low High (scales to revenue) Philosophy: Football clubs are community assets. Financial rules should protect their existence first, and performance second. The Sustainable Commitment Model: No gambling. No loopholes. Just honest, scalable, future-proof football.
  12. Nothing much, much the same as you, wasn't aiming to get your knickers in a twist either. It was just a little joke.
  13. Big Guy Branston He was on the BSLB podcast a few weeks back and just came across as very anti-developing youth. He seemed to be obsessed with the fact that because he was bigger and balder than an 18 year old that the 18 year old couldn't possibly get the better of him.
  14. I think the school of thought is that he is good enough to contribute, whether that's as an impact player or starter. It's the reality of all players. We don't want to play players who are just going to end up in League Two. We want to put time and effort into developing players who's ceiling is high. People aren't calling for every 15 year old in the academy to play. They're calling for the one who's looked mustard in the u21s and has looked more than comfortable against senior defence's in the Papa Johns or whatever it's called these days. I think I disagree slightly, I'm all for harnessing and developing potential. As long as you see that potential above the level you're currently at. Then you reap the rewards from that further down the line. Planning for the future will always be better than making short term decisions. Although in Monga's situation, it does feel risky when the player is 16 and could still leave on a free. On balance though, I'd rather go down that route than live my life thinking that the only answer is battle hardened lads in their early 30s.
  15. Alright Guy
  16. Let's kick start that faultering league campaign of theirs. Forest 4-0. And let's toss in a Vardy red so he can't play against Ipswich
  17. I do get your point of view there to be fair. Although to counter that, he gave no impression he was aware of the issue when joining and I still think on balance. Joining a Premier League team as a novice much of a gamble. Especially when it seems he was courted by Top.
  18. Just had a browse of their forum. The general vibes are unbelievably similar to what you'll see on here
  19. We'll just about make what we lost this season on Eduoard back on the profit column when we sell Bilal.
  20. Yeah as far as I can tell, they do it because they have to and use it as an opportunity to develop local youngsters and provide them good education and life skills. I believe the connection to the first team is still very much through the B team where they can sign youngsters on pro deals without the big clubs just being able to take their pick for a nominal fee.
  21. I don't want him in charge, but I reckon even RVN will have us comfortably top 6. I think we're still another 2-3 years of mismanagement away from being a mid-lower championship team. With the players I'd expect him to have at his disposal I'd expect 99.9% of managers to have us top 6 quite comfortably. I don't want him anywhere near us though purely for the fact he doesn't care about us or his team. He absolutely loves hugging the opposition at full time. Ignores the fans and basically ignores his own players.
  22. Takes away the sting of so many our players leaving on a free. That's a lot of money walking out the door for nothing.
  23. We were a Premier League club when we hired him. We took a chance on a young manager, the unproven manager certainly didn't take a chance on us.
  24. I am starting to see why Brentford sacked off their academy and opted for a B team comprised of 18-20 year olds.
  25. Made it look a lot simpler than Steve "Fergie" Cooper did, didn't he.
