Are these UK times?

We'd get a lot more done and more money if he wasn't so power hungry preventing a proper East Midlands set up. The bulk of government spending is now going to Nottingham/Derby - Aka East Midlands.
-
The3 City and County Councils don't exactly see eye to eye on many things and it''ll be worse once the government have restructured it all giving Soulsby even more power.

OS - https://www.lcfc.com/pages/en/media-article/gary-rowett-jordan-james-leicester-city-squad-fitness-injury-update-lcfc-pne-preston-north-end-championship Rowett: James Being Treated Prior To Preston Bout by Sam Jones Published Jordan James returned to the Club early to receive treatment for an injury sustained on international duty, Gary Rowett has confirmed. We host Preston North End in the Sky Bet Championship on Friday (3pm kick-off) On Wednesday afternoon, Gary Rowett provided news on the fitness of his squad heading into the encounter Jordan James came back early from international duty with Wales There were also updates on Jannik Vestergaard, Aaron Ramsey and Harry Souttar We’re back in action later this week, facing Preston North End at King Power Stadium as the Sky Bet Championship resumes on Good Friday with a 3pm kick-off. The on-loan Foxes midfielder played 56 minutes of Wales’ FIFA World Cup Play-Off Semi-Final defeat to Bosnia & Herzegovina last Thursday, before being withdrawn, missing out on the following friendly fixture against Northern Ireland. “He’s obviously come back for treatment,” Rowett explained on James. “He landed a little bit awkwardly. It wasn’t anywhere near perhaps what one or two people felt at the time, which was that it might be something more serious. “He’s recovering well. He hasn’t trained today, but a lot of the international lads either haven’t trained today or aren’t back yet. He’s one that certainly tomorrow morning we’ll be having a discussion to see whether we think he’s available. “If you speak to JJ, he’s adamant that he’ll be fit, like most players do, which is a great sign, but obviously we’ll try and find a balance between the two games, making sure that if he’s fine for the first one, he’ll be fine for the second one. “We’ll have that conversation, but at least it’s a positive conversation, rather than sitting here saying he’s definitely going to be unavailable for the two games.” Elsewhere, Jannik Vestergaard and Aaron Ramsey have both continued to be involved in training in Seagrave, while centre-back Harry Souttar stepped up his recovery with minutes in an internal match on Wednesday. “We’ve been quite fortunate in the way we’ve worked and the good relationship we’ve got the medical team already,” the 52-year-old continued. “It means we’re hopefully all making good decisions around players. “We’ve got a few players coming back. Jannik has trained well for a period of time now. Aaron Ramsey has trained well and trained consistently. “Harry Souttar is playing in a game as we speak and I think got through 45 minutes. Again, he’s making good steps towards making a return at some point. He’s been out for a long time. “There were three or four players who had less time off than the other lads, because we felt it was important they did that, the likes of Jannik, Souttar, Ramsey, the players realised they needed to do some extra work, which I think is a really good sign.” Waiting for the return of a trio of internationals in Bobby De Cordova-Reid (Jamaica), Patson Daka (Zambia) and Divine Mukasa (England Under-19s), the Manager told the media he does not expect it to hamper preparations. “Bobby and Patson will be back tomorrow (Thursday) morning," he added. "Divine is back tomorrow and will be fine to train. It doesn’t affect us too much, but it will be just one or two we’ll have to make a call on. It works against everybody who has internationals. There’s nothing new with that.”

!973 Another fine building demolished -
It's not the cost it's the lack of will there's been several lines reinstated / extended around the country, one in Northumberland and Oxford to Cambridge spring to mind and needed a lot more to get them running than the Ivanhoe would cost and the money was found.. As I said above the East Midlands and Leicester in particular are invisible to successive governments. Leicestershire is the most poorly funded county with government funding in England.
-
Compulsory Purchase, they do it plenty for the High Speed Line to Brum. The only thing stopping it is the will and that's probably because it's Leicester / East Midlands under funded by successive governments
-
I hardly think they compare to public servants who have to have credentials and many years of academic training. These are just entertainers most of which have lucked themselves into the role, that's not to say they're in anyway not deserving of their success. I just don't think the BBC should be spending high levels of the licence fee on these when there are plenty of young media trained people that I'm sure could do the job and be entertaining.
-
Why is the BBC paying out such massive salaries? Surely there are plenty of young ambitious media trained music lovers who could and would do it for way less than this. I believe when a BBC presenter gets 'famous' they should be moved on as I'd rather my licence fee was used to give young newbies a chance rather than paying out large sums to the same old people on the BBC merry-go-round of jobs Mills, who took over the breakfast show on Radio 2 from Zoe Ball in January 2025, has worked for the BBC for more than 25 years. He earned £355,000 - £359,999 in the 12 months leading up until April 2025, according to the latest annual report, making him the corporation's 11th highest-paid star.

John Ghent Leicester Estate Agent Leicester, March 1972 — and a skyline dominated by industry. Taken on Almond Road looking towards Aylestone Road, this view captures a time when power station chimneys and cooling towers loomed large over the city. To the right sits the area near Freeman’s Park, once home to the old cattle market — another reminder of how different this part of Leicester used to be. Today, much of this scene has completely changed… but for those who remember it, this was just everyday life. Do you recognise this view? #Leicester -
