  2. Leicester on brink of consecutive relegations after appeal against six-point deduction fails Leicester on brink of consecutive relegations after appeal against six-point deduction fails Story by Jeremy Wilson • 5h • Leicester City were charged last year for breaching profitability and sustainability rules - Mike Egerton/PA Leicester City’s fears of being relegated to League One have deepened after an appeal against their six-point deduction was dismissed. The sanction had been imposed in February by a Premier League-appointed independent commission, prompting them to fall to 20th in the Championship table. Since then they have slipped a further two places following a four-game winless run. Winning the appeal would have put Leicester five points clear of the relegation zone, but with five games remaining, they are one point behind Portsmouth, who also have a game in hand. Leicester had been charged last year for breaching profitability and sustainability rules for the three-season period ending in 2023-24, when they won the Championship. Premier League PSR rules state that clubs cannot lose more than £105m across three seasons, but that figure is reduced by £22m for each of the counting seasons that a club are in the Championship. Leicester, who had wanted their accounts to be considered over a 37-month period rather than 36 following a delay in submitting their accounts, were found to have spent some £20.8m over the reduced £83m limit. The Premier League also disputed the sanction, claiming that a failure to provide financial accounts for the 2023-24 season when requested should be treated as an aggravating factor, resulting in an extra point deduction. That appeal was also dismissed. Leicester were relegated on their return to the Premier League in 2024-25, accumulating just 25 points to finish 18th, and now face the prospect of back-to-back relegations “With the matter now at an end and five games of the season remaining, everyone at the club is fully focused on the matches in front of us and on shaping the outcome of our season through our results on the pitch,” a Leicester statement said. “We know this has been a challenging period, and we thank our supporters for the backing they continue to give the team. “The responsibility now is to ensure these remaining games are approached with the focus and intent our current situation demands.” Of the Premier League’s attempt to increase the sanction, the appeal board said: “We consider that the commission were entitled to treat the non-disclosure breach as aggravating the PSR breaches, rather than imposing a separate sanction for it.” Leicester have said that they were “exceptionally cooperative” to the Premier League’s investigation. Leicester will celebrate the 10-year anniversary of their historic Premier League title win next month. They have since won the FA Cup and the Championship, but have also been relegated twice.
  3. Man City don't play like Man City now they have Haaland we'd need someone like Žan Vipotnik of Swansea
  4. We acknowledge that an independent Commission’s decision to recommend a six-point deduction on the Club has been upheld by an independent Appeal Board. The decision, accepted by the Club, relates to our profit and sustainability position for the three-year period to June 2024.

  6. Ah but wins a free kick which mull over for several minutes and then blast it high over the crossbar, out for a throw in or try a short one mess it up and end up defending a goal.
  7. Jordan James of Leicester City Jordan James aggravated an injury problem during a fitness test last week and may now be a doubt to feature against Swansea this weekend, Leicester City manager Gary Rowett has said. James picked up an injury on Wales duty, and while it initially appeared to be a concern, Rowett quelled those fears by suggesting City’s top scorer may even be in contention to feature against Preston last Friday. But James did not make the squad against North End and then missed out again on Easter Monday as City drew 1-1 at Sheffield Wednesday. Rowett has now said the injury issue was made worse when James underwent a fitness test before the Preston fixture, with the midfielder keen to get back out onto the pitch. Now he may not even be back to take on Swansea this weekend, when City will again attempt to get out of the relegation zone. “They weren’t really close,” Rowett said on James and fellow attacking midfielder Aaron Ramsey following the 1-1 draw at Hillsborough. “JJ had a fitness test for the first game which made it seem like he wasn’t far away. By having a fitness test he’s maybe aggravated it a little bit. It didn’t quite feel like he was close for this one. Aaron Ramsey didn’t make either game. “Those sorts of players in these sorts of games, both goalscoring number eights that can come up with something out of nothing, of course we’re going to miss them. “But we’ve got enough players on the pitch to win the game. We’ve got enough players on the pitch to score more than one goal. That’s the expectation for those players.” James has now missed eight of City’s last 13 games. They have failed to win any of those eight matches.

  13. You might see him next year if we survive otherwise he'll be gone.
  14. aye I've had my doubts about Mukasa's commitment but his last game was his best and most influential. Hoping he can build on that. Reid just seems to run around following the ball.
  15. It begs the question often cited about managers 3 of our most successful eras have been with Gillies, O'Neal and Pearson all of whom had a strong view of team ethics and were not afraid to come on strong when needed.
  16. I've not seen him play up there but maybe O'Neal is getting to him he certainly would stand for no slacking.
  17. The PL is set up to do well in Europe that's why there's no attempt to level the playing field. They know that the better the 6 do in Europe the better the overseas income. Home income is guaranteed with Sky and the English fan. Therefore high wages for the 6 to draw in the best players worldwide trickles down as other teams try to challenge those top spots. The players want parity so the high wages trickles further down the leagues.
  18. Nacho got the winner for Celtic yesterday
  19. Maybe the over-seas players are stopping home grown players. There was a story a few years back of a guy trying to get a trial sending CVs to all the clubs and got nothing back he sent the same CV with a foreign sounding name and got replies. There seems to be a belief that over-seas players are naturally better.
  20. Will we hear they only won it because all the other 6 were crap like they said when we won it.
