Ben Ashton BBC Sport England A total of Β£3bn and counting. That is how much Championship clubs have lost in the past 10 years. To put it into perspective, for that amount you could buy a pie and a pint at a game 300 million times over. It would also get you about 760 properties in London's Mayfair - by far the UK's most expensive place to live. Alternatively, it covers the cost of 12,000 houses worth Β£250,000 - enough to fill a reasonably-sized town. You get the idea. With two second-tier clubs still yet to submit their accounts for the most recent year, that figure will rise further in the coming weeks. Just three Championship clubs recorded a profit in 2024-25 and one of those, Stoke City, only did so because a Β£90m loan was waived by new owner John Coates to offset what would have otherwise been a Β£29m loss. "No club can survive for the long-term in this system and if that continues, catastrophe will happen," warned Portsmouth chairman Michael Eisner. "There are dark clouds hovering over the English football pyramid and it seems to me there could be a real collapse where only the Premier League survives." Pretty stark words from the 84-year-old former Disney CEO who, at Pompey, oversees one of the clubs which has spent considerably less than most others to have played in the division. So, has the financial bubble burst in the Championship? Or is it more a big balloon that has been slowly inflating towards popping point over more than a decade? v Preston The last time Leicester City had this many shots in a league match, they celebrated the greatest moment in their history. Now, they could be on the verge of sinking to their lowest ebb. Not since taking 32 shots against Everton on the day they lifted the Premier League title 10 years ago have they peppered a goal like they did on Friday. Thatβs now 11 times from 20 games this season that City have failed to win a fixture in which they scored first. Itβs the worst record in the league outside of Sheffield Wednesday.

Unlikely but what would be better is if the both got knocked out in the semis.

Pop Music Before The Beatles Β· Richard Rizk Β· "Bobby Vee" β the teenager who stepped into tragedy The dramatic beginning (Buddy Holly connection): Bobby Veeβs career is one of the most extraordinary βaccidentalβ starts in pop history. On February 3, 1959, Buddy Holly died in a plane crash during the Winter Dance Party tourβalong with Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper. The next concert in Moorhead, Minnesota still had to go on. A 15-year-old Bobby Vee, from nearby Fargo, quickly formed a band called and volunteered. He got the job because he knew all of Hollyβs songs and could perform them convincingly. That single performance launched his career. Within months he recorded his first hit, and soon signed with Liberty Records. -Bobby Vee became one of the leading pre-Beatles teen idols of the early 1960s, with 38 Billboard Hot 100 hits and multiple gold records. *US hits= βTake Good Care of My Babyβ (1961) β #1 βRun to Himβ (1961) β Top 5 βRubber Ballβ (1961) β Top 10 βThe Night Has a Thousand Eyesβ (1962) β Top 5 βDevil or Angelβ (1960) β Top 10 βCome Back When You Grow Upβ (1967) β Top 5 *UK hits= βTake Good Care of My Babyβ β Top 5 βRubber Ballβ β Top 5 βRun to Himβ β Top 10 βThe Night Has a Thousand Eyesβ β Top 5 He was especially popular in the UKβhis compilation, indeed his albums even charted highly decades later. Bobby married Karen Bergen in1963) and enjoyed a long and stable marriage, They had four children, many of whom became musicians Known as a family-oriented and modest personality (unlike many teen idols). -By the mid-1960s: The arrival of The Beatles and the British Invasion changed pop music and teen idols like Bobby Vee lost chart dominance. -Diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease around 2011, he retired from performing and died in 2016 at age 73.

Man C 1-0 penalty i I know thereβs a lot of Liverpool haters on here but surely no one wants the corrupt Man C to win more trophies?

How about the 10 feet or more between the 2nd goal scorer and the nearest Leicester player.

Yeah he was the last line of defence but Fatawu and Okoli could have done better to stop it getting to Thomas

If and when they ever get around to restructuring the House of Lords need to change the name) properly then any Bishops in there should only be there on merit, by being voted in if that is how it's assembled. Personally I'd like to see a mixed of all the trades, legitimate societies etc.

The Pitching In Northern Premier League Β· Follow At the age of 40 years, 7 months and 19 days, AFC Rushden & Diamonds manager Elliot Sandy became the clubβs oldest-ever player after featuring in their 2-0 defeat to Bedworth United on Saturday. He becomes the second NPL Midlands Division manager to don a playing shirt in a matter of days, after Anstey Nomads FC's Conrad Logan came out of retirement and kept a clean sheet during last week's 6-0 victory over Carlton Town! Impressive stuff from both men

Buskin with The Beatles Β· Follow On this date in 1963, The Beatles performed two sets at Sheffield's Azena Ballroom, where they were introduced onstage by promoter and future London-based nightclub owner Peter Stringfellow. After initially agreeing a Β£65 booking fee, Brian Epstein had tried upping it to Β£90 in light of the Please Please Me album's chart success before settling on Β£85. Not that Stringfellow was overly concerned. Having originally intended to showcase the group at his smaller Black Cat Club inside St Aidens Church Hall on Sheffieldβs City Road, he'd followed police advice to switch locations because of the anticipated deluge of fans by hiring the Azena for Β£29 - and had then sold 2,000 tickets despite the larger venue's 500-person capacity... while raising the ticket price from four to five shillings as the big day approached. Paul wrote the two set lists on the back of a Parlophone promotional postcard that was astutely retrieved backstage at the end of the evening by Roy Simmonite, the drummer with support group Mark Stone and The Aidens. Also on the bill: Count Linsey III And The Skeletons.
