  1. we breached the PSR rules, we exceeded the allowable loss threshold. But the PL rules, in their current (poorly drafted) form meant that they didn't actually have jurisdiction over us to charge us for that breach. But we still did breach.
  2. Yeah but I watch Faes from the stands so I know what goes on inside his head
  3. Sure, but I guess it just feels like we're talking about something that hasn't happened yet. Did a significant amount of people seriously expect more than 0 points from Tottenham and Villa? They finished 5th and 4th last season. Villa have been excellent since Emery came in. On that basis, is it a terrible start? For sure, I think he's not got the balance right at times, with the triple CDM approach, but I can also see the logic behind what he's attempting. The Ricardo situation is puzzling but we simply don't know enough about what's going on there so
  4. What is sorry? Did 19 other teams get promoted too? Did 19 other teams have a managerial change in the summer? Do 19 other teams have PSR restrictions? It's possible to recognise some of the real life factors that have affected the early part of our season without it being some sort of excuse or loser mentality. You're right to say that points matter just as much in any/every part of the season. But to expect us to be performing better now rather than later seems to ignore the reality of things
  5. It's not necessarily a loser mentality. That view can simply come from recognition that we've not a played a fixture yet with a fully settled squad, and whilst you can say that affects all teams 'equally' it kinda doesn't when 1) you're a promoted side and 2) two of your opening 3 games are vs top 5 sides with settled teams and managers.
  6. Amazing what people can tell from the stands isn't it
  7. Spurs and Villa finished 5th and 4th last season. Haven’t Villa been one of the best teams other than Man City since Unai Emery came in? Did anyone really expect more at this stage? With the window only just closed we haven’t even played a fixture with a full squad yet.
  8. On the other hand, being ‘more positive from the start’ could have seen us fall further behind in the Spurs and Villa games. it’s all a trade off.
  9. Don’t think he made any specific howlers but I’d need to see the Skipp foul and the Vardy penalty shout again. but his overall game management was woeful. Wildly inconsistent about enforcing or not enforcing restart positions. Managed to get in the way of the ball 3-4 times. Was constantly in the way of Winks. kept whistling at Villa to hurry / warn them for timewasting but never booked anyone. in the first half board only added 2 mins when it should have been more, there was stoppages within the 2 mins and yet still blew up on 47:50 managed to annoy both sets of fans, players and managers
  10. What was that weird moment in the 2nd half when Villa were preparing to take a freekick in right back position and the ref made them change the ball position a few times, then blew his whistle to halt the game and pointed around at all the Villa players and gave a sort of crossed raised arms signal? it was bizarre. I wondered if he was warning them all against timewasting?
  11. We’re referring to different incidents then. There was an incident after our ‘equaliser’ the ball clearly hit the ref but he played on regardless. Probably didn’t dare stop the game again!
  12. But is that the rule? The ref appeared to stop the game every time it touched him, apart from that one time he didn’t. so wild inconsistency and terrible game management
  13. Ref stopped the game and ruled our goal out because it hit him, then later in the game the ref played on after it hit him? So…?
  14. I mean, that's self evident? There's nothing new there. We need signings. Until they're confirmed, they're not confirmed. We have until the window closes. Simple as that.
  15. In what way is he being arrogant? He's got 40+ players. He can only name 25 in the squad and only 18 in the matchday squad? It's just simple arithmetic that roughly half of their players are going to not be involved much. Making footballing decisions without sentiment, for the benefit of the on-pitch performance is exactly what a manager should be doing...?
  16. I don't think anyone we sign will be 2nd fiddle to Vardy. Vardy simply can't play every game and can't play all of most games. Whoever we sign will be starting/rotating with Vardy
  17. We simply can't have the window close without us signing a striker
  18. Thank goodness the manager and players don't seem to share the mentality of the fanbase...
  19. This forum has gone totally bonkers
  20. Leeds about to have their second "we would have won the league if August didn't happen" season in a row eh @Pub breath?
  21. OK thanks - I haven't missed anything then. I guess we'll have to see what the squad looks like once the window is closed. And I never put any stock in preseason games, so one less thing for me to worry about.
  22. Other than Enzo leaving and Cooper coming in, I've largely ignore the preseason. Can anyone summarised the substantive mistakes the club has been making? Or is this just general grumbling? I'm wondering what I've missed
  23. Sometimes the problem is between the chair and the screen. Nothing I can do about that. Sorry
  24. Yes as everybody knows, managers and their entire ideology should be judged on 45 minutes in the first preseason game.
