By the strictest interpretation he didn't offer support to a proscribed organization because of that full stop (and the biggest grammar pedants in the world will die on that hill), but the meaning of his sign was very obvious, hence him being arrested, same as the meaning of that palace banner. it's why "we're saying he didn't do those things" isnt the slamdunk defence people are suggesting

what exactly are you expecting them to state? their argument is that he's never done anything of those things and there's no evidence for them (a lie, but they're not going to admit to his wrongdoings), at which point it would come to him being accused because he's from a country with a history of corruption and match fixing. if you genuinely believe he's innocent and being smeared, or want to pretend he is (either of which Forest absolutely do), the only conclusion is xenophobia. It's throw shit at the wall and hope it sticks, because everything he's accused of is well documented, but it's internally consistent.
