What you are proposing is that the Director Of Football isn’t responsible for negotiation of player’s salaries, lengths of contract, buying players, or selling players. Ie. The budgets and trading activity of the football element of a football club. If the above is true (it isn’t) then you’re right, the failure to strengthen the squad in January isn’t his fault. If the above isn’t true then please explain what the role of DOF does involve, because it seems you’ve made it entirely redundant. Or maybe I should just stop trying to be popular and not mention how terrible Rudkin is at his job

They don’t look awful, they looked knackered. If you think we don’t look fatigued too then fair enough, we see the game differently
-
Watched the Saints yesterday on their equivalent of Foxehub. They looked tired, passing was off, lacked energy, running back, getting first to the ball etc etc. Their partisan commentators were saying that the long run of wins was like watching a different side and concluded that they look exhausted. An easy parallel to be drawn to us. The psychology of whether you feel tired, I think, will have a big part to play in the run in. Saints won’t be in the mix for top two now, and one other team will fall away feeling fatigue. A player signed in January to provide a bit of freshness is really important for the squad mentally. Like a well placed family member / supporter for a marathon runner … that little boost that gives you the second wind. I wonder how many more January windows we’ll need before Rudkin learns?

Maybe that he got us that 17 point lead, and we’re still top by 6 points. I guess??🤷♂️🤷♂️ -

Terrible referee. Leeds could have had 6 more bookings. We were desperately unlucky. Leeds incredibly lucky. We will still win the league. -
Ipswich look knackered!!!

It all looked a bit muddled yesterday. Off-form and tired looking engine room, no sparkle from the wingers, and a laboured approach to breaking down their very defensive / pragmatic tactics at 0-2. Enzo himself even had a lacklustre day, the subs seeming a little confusing. It seems like we may be over-complicating things at the minute. Hopefully a week of simple clarity in training can turn it around. It seems like Enzo needs to walk in the doors afresh, and be the clear thinker he was a few months ago (there’s nobody I trust more to do that than Mr Maresca) -
Agree entirely, the little boost / fresh enthusiasm to the squad would have been great. Most of all though we’re desperate for another option at centre mid - losing Ndidi & Casadei has resulted in KDH looking knackered. let’s hope we ride it out

Entirely agree … the aim of our attacks seemed to be a far post cross, which I feel has been something that’s been an increasingly familiar route. It doesn’t make much sense though as we never score from them!! -
I’d say that he does. Guilem in the BSLB podcast indicated that he thought 8-10 were good enough in the squad…. So assuming Enzo agrees (wouldn’t be too difficult to imagine given their friendship). The obvious ones to me: Mads KDH Ricardo Winks Mavididi Then likely ones: Fatawu JJ Vesty Faes Ndidi Daka Doyle Vardy at 38?? Anyone I’ve missed? We’ll need to be recruiting an awful lot of talent!!

Yeah exactly this. Cannon for Vardy Anyone for Praet Could have been 20 minutes earlier. Nelson for Vesty (recovering from injury) I thought was an obvious precaution and extra minutes for BN. And some rest for KDH or Winks. We do seem to be making less subs as the season goes on which is counter intuitive. I watched the last 20 of the Saints game after ours, they looked absolutely knackered and their commentators were very aware of it. The toll of a long season is starting to show - regular rotation and subs will be a key advantage of ours -

I thought he looked really very average. His energy levels are woeful, kinda Tielemans effort -
He’s not a winger. Not sure he’s a number 8 either for Premier league - so will be on the for sale list at the end of the season?
-
I think his point was how long have they been counting passes per player / success of them? 20 years in the 2nd flight? Seems like a long time to me.
-
Watford look better than I thought they would. Strangely Hamer looks reasonably confident and ok with the ball at his feet. watching the Watford stream and their commentators think the ref is overly lenient but lets the game flow, and “what chance does anyone stand when the Centre back overlaps the winger”…. They’re very impressed with our movement.
-
Only if we don’t sign him. Otherwise no chance. The contract will be agreed by all parties and be triggered by an event(s), in this case promotion. If we go up, he’s ours. If we don’t there’s possible a different clause that may, for instance, give us a week of first refusal… or nothing, he just reverts to being their player. Contracts take a long time because they are comprehensive. Chelsea fancying him and gazumping us will have been covered off.

I thought it was a red at the time (not because I agree that it should be, just that with modern refereeing thought it would be). I can see why they’d be irate.

Player / Coach next year?? Are they still allowed??

A group of lads I used to attend games with relented to spousal pressure and took our WAGs to the Victoria ground. 90 minutes of being spat on by the tier above, and their relentless intimidatory atmosphere and we’d successfully ensured that we had lads only away games forever more!

All the players songs would make a great sticky thread!! Would improve the atmosphere!? It’s how the England Barmy Army operate - make sure everyone has access to learn the songs
