Boom, boom, boom, now let me hear you say Bamford.

Bilal El Khannouss (Stuttgart loan, official)

Disappointing, but not really surprising if he does end up going. Keeping hold of BEK this summer was always going to be difficult. I’d be ok with him joining Newcastle, especially as Champions League football is too good an opportunity to turn down. If he ends up at Leeds though, that would be as disappointing as seeing Hermansen leave for West Ham. -
His situation is a bit of a conundrum tbh, like a few players, he’ll be out of contract next summer. Cashing in now would be wise, we’ve let too many players leave for free in recent years, we need as many players in that situation out the door as possible. Or you give him a new contract, but with what he’s produced since being here, he can play a vital role in the Championship, but at Premier League level if we get promoted again, there’s too many question marks, he is probably best to go to a league where the pace of the game is slower. For the longer vision of Leicester City, Winks out and getting a younger version in like Siltanen would make sense.

Tochi Chukwuani(Sturm Graz) or Caleb Yirenkyi(Nordsjaelland) Then one of Arthur Avom(Lorient), Mamadou Sangare(Rapid Wien), Besfort Zeneli(Elfsborg), Otto Rosengren(Malmo) All players who can play as 8’s with some defensive nous!

In pre season it was pretty evident that the midfield needed more energy added to it. In a system like this, you need players who can press and cover ground, look at Bournemouth for example with players like Tyler Adams and Ryan Christie, they might not be the most glamorous of players, but they’ll bloody get stuck in. We’ve lost those kind of attributes with Ndidi. Soumare will forever be lazy. While whether it’s Winks or Skipp, I’d rather see one of them as the 6 with a box-to-box 8 with some defensive nous coming in. In an ideal world, I’d revamp the whole midfield completely, but whether it’s 1-2 signings in this position, they must have defensive nous, ability to press and ability to cover ground.

Made a mistake.

Noticeable silence because my mother has just come out of hospital and I have to care for her. But in terms of Skipp, back to being very meh this afternoon. I said in the match thread at half-time that I don’t really like the midfield dynamic. Skipp was pressing like a madman last Sunday, this Sunday he pressed high for about five minutes, the rest of the half him and Soumare were crap. I did also say in this thread that I don’t see Skipp as being a long term solution for the box-to-box role. A new box-to-box 8 is essential this summer, that and a striker are the two missing puzzle pieces imo.

His reaction today was that of a player who doesn’t really want to be here. He’s entitled to feel like he’s not been appreciated, but we all know he hasn’t helped himself in that regard, defensive errors and annoying attitude is a good recipe to be disliked by your own fans. He clearly thinks he’s better than Leicester City, he will probably get better than Leicester City. But the day he leaves this football club, will be one of the biggest reliefs I’ve had as a Leicester fan.

Gave him plenty of slack last season, but honestly, Ayew looks a completely different player, his hold up and link up play was excellent again today.
-
At least Vestergaard knows how to use his feet
-
Even though I thought Skipp played well against Fiorentina, this central midfield dynamic has to go, it’s been fvcking rancid in this game.
-
That is fvcking dreadful from Soumare, weak as piss.
-
Midfield needed revamping last summer, we didn’t really see it. Skipp leaving this summer was doubtful, but getting at least two out the door of Ndidi, Soumare, Winks is ideal imo, all three of them would be sensational business.
-
Winks out, Siltanen in, thank you.
-
Just like last week, Vestergaard is probably starting for his passing ability, Marti likes at least one centre back to have good passing range. For now I understand it, but hopefully Marti starts to show trust in Nelson in that regard, and he eventually takes Vestergaard’s spot.

We gather here today for a Abdul Fatawu Jordan Ayew masterclass!
-
After what he’s produced in pre season, the hold up and link play king thoroughly deserves the number 9 shirt.
-
Of players you’ve mentioned in recent days, Besfort Zeneli would give us that too. Ideally the possibility of a new 8 or BEK’s replacement if he does go, needs some set piece ability.
-
Daniel Amartey is still a free agent
-
Over the past three seasons is the stretch where he’s started to take off. After what he produced last season and how he’s started this season, maybe this is the summer someone takes a chance on him. Prime age, would probably cost around the £5 million range, potential there to be a shrewd pickup. He can also take set pieces!
-
BEK replacement option 2. Dominik Fitz - Austria Wien. Very consistent numbers in recent season’s, but last season was his best season to date, 12 goals, 15 assists in the Austrian Bundesliga. He has started this season in hot form too, scoring and assisting in Austria Wien’s first league game, while in Europa Conference League qualifiers, he has 3 goals, 3 assists in 3 games. Very much like BEK and Gulliksen, he can also operate from wide and deeper areas. In terms of goal and creation numbers from last season, his stats were ridiculous.

Mixed emotions on this one. Fee slightly lower than I was hoping for, unless add ons are involved. Also going to a mid table Premier League team stings a bit. With Potter being West Ham’s manager though, it’s a move that unfortunately makes sense. Hopefully these funds help get a striker and central midfielder through the door. As for the goalkeeper situation itself, I said on here a few days ago that Mads leaving this week, would give us the perfect window to assess Stolarczyk and see if he’s a worthy number 1 from a distribution standpoint.

“Hear me out” More like “ @Finnegan will knock you out”. After posting this nonsense.
-
What about a double Leeds swoop for Greenwood and Bamford
-
He’s been getting rave reviews from a few “scout” accounts that I follow. Like Gulliksen, very likely he ends up at a better suitor, but if we can shift some of the names you mentioned out the door, he’d definitely be high up on my list too.
