Isn’t he technically about 4th choice here behind Braybrooke, Page & Lundstram? Injury, fatigue or suspension to any of those 3 means Neale has to step up. Doyle can play in midfield as well but not convinced by him.

Remember Pearsons experienced signings like Wasyl, Hammond, GTF? They were good pro’s to have around the squad, but could also make an impact on the pitch when called upon. McCarthy, Cullen, Chaplin, Burns, etc have no positive impact on the pitch even at League one level and will be joining Thomas, Skipp and Reid in the bomb squad. I am disappointed we didn’t build more around our youth prospects. Riley Carr and Evans are obvious upgrades on Burns / Cullen and Logan Briggs would’ve died on the pitch for us whereas Chaplin is nowhere to be seen. Once again the squad build has been mismanaged by the higher ups.

It was so obvious our RW options this season should’ve been Jake Evans & Riley Carr.

Once again we’ve wasted our resources on a pointless signing. You could have promoted Riley Carr or Evans instead of signing Burns and saved his wages for another CB or midfielder.

It’s been that way for a while now. We all knew Aluko and Page should’ve got more minutes last season. No doubt the next batch coming through are better than the “senior pros” as well (Gray > Okoli, Neale > Skipp, Carr > Burns, Evans > Cullen, etc).

One thing thats helped today is we’ve got pace all over the pitch. Coulibaly, Aluko, McFarlane & Watson are all rapid. Page and Howell are deceptively quick on the ball as well. Swap Chaplin out for Alves and you’ve got a strong core who are set up nicely for the modern game.

SCR/PSR is very much an I.O.U system. These rules aren’t relevant to clubs like Man Utd of course, but they can still manipulate the situation to their benefit. Later down the line we will buy one of their players for an over inflated fee. See the Maddison / Winks / Skipp deals as an example and also the many strange transfers between other clubs.

assuming nobody is silly enough to buy him.. surely he doesn’t get into the match day squad now? burns, alves & watson should be ahead of him and we’re only allowed 7 subs in the league.

We wasted 330million+ from the Maguire, Fofana, Chilwell, Mahrez, Maddison & Barnes sales, let alone the other transfer fees we received in the past decade. Clearly transfer money in the bank means f all when JR is in charge.

Thing is, he’s not a serious footballer so he won’t be pushing for a move. At least the other dossers like Faes have some aspirations like playing for their country. Mavididi will happily run his contract down and collect his wage. If we can’t get rid we need to drop him from the squad completely. Both Carr and Evans will have more of an impact than him this season if given a chance.

I would give it Braybrooke and build the squad around him. He has captained the academy and England youth teams.

So Otchere and Hutchinson will still be the best strikers at the club after we sign Cullen and an injury prone Adebayo

Hello its Jon Rudkin here, are you sure we don’t need to sign a RB who is a 32 year old Championship journeyman and will have appearance clauses in his contract so Aluko and Joseph will have to sit on the bench

Braybrooke, Alves, Page, Aluko/Joseph & Nelson if he sticks around should be starting every game. Carr, Evans, Otchere, Hutchinson, Neale & Gray to be bench/squad players and get plenty of minutes as well.

Like you say he was one of the best midfielders in league 2 in terms of defensive contributions. However I would like to see Braybrooke, Alves & Page in rotation for the two 8 positions. It’s good Sammy can play as a 6, but his best work will come from the 8 position where he can support our attacks and unlock low blocks. I would like us to sign a holding midfielder to play the 6 position.

It wouldn’t be a bad signing if we also: - Sign Tolaj or someone similar to be our starting CF - Promote one of Otchere or Hutchinson (loan out the other one)
